If it did enter the engine then its probably dead but may not be. The only issue could be the conrods bending but you could be lucky. My friends Astra had the same thing and he took off what he could, dried it all out and put it back together again and it works again. There is hope

Strange as if there is a problem, when the ECU does it checks (every X miles) it will read a fault with the O2 sensors and flick the warning light on. The ECU flash should not change this no matter which way you do it. How many times have you done the foot pedal technique? The only way to fully get this turned off will be to put in a MIL eliminator i think, thats if its the same as my old car.

+1 Not keen on gold unless its on blue scoobies. Thats Bronze isnt it? Dont like it on those either, too common I'm pretty sure its gold on the scoobies but bronze seems to be one that the Yanks go for on the Zeds but I can't stand. I thought that too, but my mate has an old 1995 scoobie in silver and has bronze wheels not gold.
