  1. The tc/stability control is nt very good on the Z as said above its only a driving aid. I think its better to learn how to drive the car with the tc off then when the back end does go you will probobly be able to catch it. With the tc on it is virtually impossible to get a feel for the car and in my opinion knowing how to control the backend is an essential skill in a high power rwd car. It could one day save your pride/vehicle/life.
  2. I like my plate. The car used to be a nissan demonstrater and I think it suits me well I suppose some of the older folks would nt get it though.
  3. I can see this happening Nissan need a car to replace the silvia which was one of there best selling sport coupes. As said above the sr20det is a legendary motor I think they will revive it just clean the emmisions up a bit. When it comes out I think I'll be trading my Z in I'd imagine it will weigh 2/3rds of the weight aswell but with the sr20det it will be much more tuneable.

  5. Went to Santa Pod yesterday There where more cars there than I expected and it took them till 12 to dry the track out and it started pissing it down at 3. I still managed to get 5 runs in I am quite pleased with the results because as said above the pod surface is s*** and on a decent road surface I could easily knock .2 off the first 60ft which would be worth double that at the end of the strip. I think the autocar figure is quite reserved I also had half a tank of fuel in when I started Im sure a racing driver would be able to **** a 13.7 on a decent road surface. I ve posted my first and last run the car is completly standard and was running on shell vpower.
  6. The owners manual specifys 98 ron for the uk model. I can get 30MPG if I really take my time on a long run[Driving like grandad on a sunday] and dont hit any traffic driving the same way round town I get about 20>25MPG depending on traffic. If I drive it fast it's upsetting I am glad it's not my daily driver
  7. I dont know how reliable the clutch is on the Z I can only speak from expierience, which is from 2 other nissans being a s13 and a s14a I took both down the pod many times on standard clutches running 250 and 280 bhp respectivly never had any problems the s14a clutch did go eventually but when i removed it it had no meat left on it.To get the 13.4 in the 14a I did use a paddle clutch because the standard unit used to slip a bit. lol mitsubishi's cant be compared to nissans because there @*!# they always break no matter what the model my brothers evo hardly gets out the garage.
  8. To get a decent time I think it's best to run 12>20 psi on the rears on standard 18"s a big burn out will help alot before the start as well.[dont think i'll be doing it in the Z] I am not worried about the clutch the Z is a sportscar the clutch is made for this sort of thing the only way the clutch will break is if it's on the out already.
  9. I'd be interested in this as well, when is it it? How much? It's on january 21st Its twenty five quid but you get unlimited runs Last time I was there at ten and had over 10 go's and that was in summer I dont expect it to be as busy in january. I'm up for that Thats good we can have a head to head you can show me how much faster the gt edition is
  10. You are joking about there being no salt on the roads are nt you?Japan's climate is very harsh in the winter alot worse than the uk.Who Do you think run's and funds bimta? The 350Z is a drift car and japan is the drifting capital but that said as long as people are happy with what they bought I suppose thats all that matters.

  12. That sounds like a decent time from the feel of my Z I sort of predicted a mid fourteen it would be nice to get in the 13's as I know m3's do a mid thirteen standard
  13. I am planning a trip down to santa pod in january they do a run what you brung. I am not a big fan of rolling roads and want to see how the car performs standard before I start modding do any of you know the standard time for a Z? Have any of you done a qaurter in your Z's it would be interesting to see what other people have done.
  14. Sounds like you got a bargain did nt realise you bought the car over here a lot of people buy these imports with out even seeing them which is what I cant understand if the cars over here then I suppose there's some bargains to be had as long as your prepared to take a hit on the resale.
  15. What boost were you running and could you translate that into BHP About 11psi at the time. Must be in the region of 450bhp, with torque probably about 450 lb/ft. Another thing that makes me think about the Aston figures is this. My friend who has a 200sx running 300bhp had a proper go against one. He said that the Aston was just managing to pull on him, albeit very slowly. To put it in comparison, he said that the Aston was that little bit quicker than his car, in the same way that my old Vortech Zed used to be quicker than his. With my car running 11psi, the Aston was totally, and I mean totally murdered. I would have gone upto full boost, but was struggling for traction badly as it was. Sorry to go off topic slightly, so when you had your Vortech, (running at 400 bhp?) it only just managed to pull away from a 200sx running 300 bhp? So a riced up 200 kept up with an aston (just)? If they were propperly playing and it was a straight run (as bends negate power advantages full stop) the 200 may well have kept with the aston but at a given speed the aston would have just started to pull away quicker and quicker and quicker. My car is fast, ferkin fast, it has dollops of grunt but off the lights lesser cars will keep up due to gearing and weight - the difference being mine will pull strong all the way up to over 160 without effort. Also the gearing too, I can guarantee that Aston has much much longer gearing than the 200. I can drop to a 3.9 diff and get 1.5 seconds off my 1/4 mile with the exact same engine. Ponies dont always tell the tale. An aston would probobly be quicker in a straight line but would have no chance round the corners against a slighty fettled 200 they only weigh 1260kg and as you know its all about power to weight I did a 13.4 qaurter and did my first 60 foot in 2 seconds dead my terminal was 106 my 200 only had 280 bhp it also used to pull hard to 170 due to the turbo over boosting it makes my standard Z feel slow especially top end whats the aston do a qaurter in?
  16. How can you be sure your car has done 8k it's not like you can ring the last owner up. I suppose some people are more gullable than others how can you be sure yours has done the exact mileage recorded on your car, like I have said on another thread , on any used car UK , JDM whatever unless you have sat in the passenger seat for ever mile ..no body can categorically say there mileage is 100% genuine on any used car..no good ringing the previous owner ! he was probably the one that altered the mileage in a recent trade survey conducted by the HPI company it was found that on average over 60% of UK cars had been mileage "adjusted"........ the majority by private owners I agree with what your saying but look at it like this on a uk car you can ring the last owner ring the nissan dealers where the car was serviced and if that does nt satisfy you you can always plug a lap top in and see if its been clocked. If I was sending my car to japan I could buy a nissan service book with genuine stamps for 150 get it clocked for 40 and get the interior and paint work tarted up for a grand to make it look nearly new the car could have done 40k but mr jap would never know he would probobly think he 's got a bargain when really my cars could have done 40k and be a proper drift slag. I went to look at a 55/s Z at keighly cars in yorkshire he wanted 16k for it apparently the cars got fsh ect ect some of you might have seen it, the car was a proper drift slag looked like it had been rolled on closer inspection none of the panels lined up. Those guys up there have been in the import game for years and have 100000's pounds worth of cars in stock but he still got ripped off after all those years in the game so I hate to think what some unlucky people end up with.

  18. I think it has become much more difficult to apply stereo types to different car drivers. Not many people save up for cars anymore everything is on finance so we now see many more prestige motors on the road and a wider variety of people driving them. I think it also depends on your perspective someone who is 20 would apply different stereo types to different cars than someone who is 60. I personally stereo type suburus [king boy racer] 3 series bmw’s[repmobiles] audit t[hairdressers cars]I find it more difficult to stereo type say golf drivers, focus drivers astra drivers ect. As for the Z, being a jap car its again very difficult to stereo type the owners but saying that most of the people I ve seen driving them around here have been middle aged with grey hair which is not good for me but I would not sell it or be put off buying one. I think most the people that have them are not like me I am quite competitive and still have not had the opportunity to race another Z even though I have came across quite a few of them. Suburu drivers m3 drivers 200sx drivers and evo drivers seem a lot more competitive and enjoy a play. Which leads me to believe that alot of Z drivers buy them for the looks and not the performance
  19. The t is basically the same as the base model but with leather which means it has no ebd which i believe stands for electrinic braking distrubution which helps when driving fast it also has no brembos and an inferior lsd and the tc system is nt as advanced as the uk models or the jdm s/st
  20. I bought it from a a dealer in kent who normally sells prestige cars i.e x5's m5's m3's ect he took it in part exchange i was down there at 1 pm the same day it went in the auto trader. Dont get me wrong i have nothing agaisnt imports but i cant see the point when there are uk cars available for a simalar price.
  21. As you can see he has quoted for the larger Nissan wheels or a nice set of snazzy wheels to. What do you guys think? Cheers Richard not worth it you could buy a real z for that with brembos and a decent lsd would nt touch an import for that money especially a t I paid 16.8k for my uk gt with 14.5k on the clock its on a 53
  22. No You can now pick up a uk car for about the same price as an import imports are almost near impossible to sell Theres no water tight way to check mileage or history alot of insurance companies wont touch them alot of them dont have brembos the decent lsd or the high tech braking system. If you are going to get an import get a s or st but remember you want it 2>3k cheaper than the uk equivelant because chances are no one will pay decent money for it when your ready to sell
  23. Cant believe nissan are still putting those @*!# bose stereos in their 2006 cars. They where @*!# when they came out three and a half years later there a joke.
  24. As said above it does sound like the sync Try changing the gearbox oil if it does nt get any better you could learn to live with it. I ****ed the sync up on my s14a a few weeks after i bought it and it was ok for the 3yrs/20k miles untill i sold it I used to love getting the back end out and it went down santapod many times I never had any problems.
  25. I had this problem up untill a few weeks ago. I was doing abit of traffic light gp and drastically missed second i was sure i had bent the selector or ****ed the sync up. To my amazement it actually made the gearbox much smoother so I think when I got the car the car the selector was slightly bent and I must have straightened it back out with my @*!# gear change:) Have you had the car from new? If cars done more than 20k I would also change the gearbox oil for some decent fully syth stuff.
