    If it's not losing pressure that would tend to rule out any leaks including head gasket.

    But £250 excess though to replace £500 , have sourced a new washer and dryer (same models) and i will probably salvage as many parts as i can for spares off the damaged ones. Fair point Dave. Especially with you having the know-how to take them apart.

    I'm of the opinion that it is a quite straight forward repair. Once the bumper is removed and re aligned it's just a case of repainting. You should also have a go at claiming on you house insurance for the appliances.

    As has already been said, if the car is overheating under normal driving conditions, then the problem is likely to lay elsewhere. If it's only doing it when in traffic or after a long period of idling then the fans couls be faulty. I would take it to an independant auto electrician and and have the fans checked out. It may just be the sender unit. by the way.
