  1. Looking good - and Andy's matt black looks good too!
  2. Buy one. Remove the decals.
  3. For a factory system it isn't all that bad really. You can get some reasonable sound from it but the balance of the sound is all over the place. The sub is very limited and can either boom or be non existent at different frequencies. I found a set up that I found it listenable and others thought I'd had some work done but it was all original kit, just the right headunit settings (for me at least). I have certainly heard much worse in much more 'premium' marques, but it's not close to say the Volvo Dynaudio system.
  4. As you can see from that door pic, the cable is completely re-run in mine. Splicing it adds a connection and introduces a weak link. You're right Bundus, check what you're paying for!
  5. Doh, sorry, Mine is a single DIN and if I hit the preset numbers then it jumps through the listings making it very easy to find tracks and I can search by artist, album, genre etc. Not used the touch screen interface for a while but would be surprised if there isn't a range of search options. The destruction manual shed any light??
  6. You do know that the Alpine search allows you to use the number buttons like text buttons to fast search for tracks etc? The other bonus with the Alpine is you can't be done for using a handheld device with the plod as the headunit is a fixed unit
  7. The car as a whole? Just a bit yep! One door.....
  8. Moved. Take a look around the site, plenty of info on buying. Any questions, just ask.
  9. To give you the full list of regular suppliers that sponsor the club... Envy Z1 Auto CS Rarerims And any others you see in the traders section......
  10. So do I mate, I didn't have one on my competition car, a single yellow top did the job nicely. I am looking into maybe changing the Zed battery to a yellow top but haven't begun to size it up yet!

    all new jag xj

I think it looks like it will take the game to ze Germans, just like the XF is giving them a kicking at the moment hopefully.
  12. That's not Craig's car - that one is on the road AND moving. Well done mate, huge amount of work and a lovely car.
  13. I know little about the JVC units and I have spent little time looking into iPod connectivity due to the poor sound quality. The only thing I do know is that Alpine units use their own software to play the files rather than the Apple stuff which is meant to be much better. The question I would have is around what the two cables connect to? Video iPods just have the one standard iPod socket so where would these two connections go??
  14. Agreed, but deep cycle batteries do help with the general health of the system. The big three do help, especially with older cars. If you think about the current draw on even sub 1k RMS systems against a skinny Jap battery most systems can benefit from the upgrade. And the way the split charge works is to charge the main battery, system battery second, so the alternator isn't generally an issue.
