  1. And so you know, the V2 is actually no lower than a standard front bumper (exactly the same depth). However it does curve out to create the lip on the V2 whereas the standard bumper curves under the car. So speed bumps etc should be fine if they are now, unless they are downhill :)

  2. If you don't want something that will break down, avoid an old French or Italian car

The Focus or even Fiesta route isn't a bad route to go down, at least anything on those is likely to be cheap and with plenty of choice for people to do the work. I wouldn't even worry too much about it being diesel. Older diesel engines just aren't as good as they are now and the fuel consumption isn't always that much better....

Also think about Hondas, Nissans, Toyotas and the like, Jap stuff tends to go on for a while! :)

  3. no side reflectors? didnt realise that. personally not to my taste. So is mine a v1 then?

Correct, no side reflectors, cleans the lines up for me. But that is the design difference between the two - yours looks to be the V1 if it is the one in your sig :)

  4. But if the wheel is constructed in such a way as to not need a spacer, ie having agressive offsets then you're not saving the weight of a spacer, because the spacer is effectively built in to the wheel isn't it?

Depends on the wheel, but those well made will have been designed for the offset from the off and the spokes come to the right point for the hub to be in the right place.

  5. Exactly my reason for never spacing my Rays!

And with bigger wheels with good offsets, why add more unsprung weight?!

Wouldn't having bigger wheels with aggressive offsets have the same effect as spacers? The extra metal in the wheel to make it wider would also increase unsprung weight in the same manner as adding spacers.

I would have assumed this as well.

If the wheel is constructed to not need a spacer then you save the weight of the spacer. My (unclear) point was why do people buy bigger wheels with the intention of putting spacers on... :)

  6. I did mine and didn't claim a thing, so that was a waste of cash....

Hindsight, I would check to see if there were any warranty issues that could affect the car and if it hasn't had them done I would consider. eg mine had had the 4th to 6th syncro work done on the gearbox and if that had happened outside of warranty the parts alone were 4 figures. Since it had, there was no point really. Most other warranty jobs were less than the cost in reality. So check it out, and otherwise put the cash in the bank and leave it for 2 years. :)

  7. Thanks everyone!

Lots to think about. I think I need to find out what the best 8" sub I can lay my hands on is ....

Then start doing research into Head Units.... Cheers! :)

(Oh, and also try to get hold of Rob/H5!)

    You called?! :D

JL Audio 8W7 is the answer to your question.

    Alpine for head units.

My sealth install, I will post a link to a thread in a minute. I haven't got any pictures of the trophies

  8. I've been through this.

Someone drove into the Gallardo, was a tiny tiny scratch to the rear quarter. The lambo dealership recommended Accident Exchange. My incident was at 5pm, by 9am the next day a Ferrari 430 was on my drive courtesy of AE at a cost of £1100 a day :scare:

I had the 430 for 35 days and the total bill was £52k :surrender:

From the outset I said I would only proceed if I was totally unresponsible for the costs of the hire car. I did have to sign a credit hire agreement for the 430 but AE said that I could take out an insurance policy for £10 that would indemnify me from being pursued for the costs should they not be able to recover the costs from the other parties insurance. I ensured that they sent me written confirmation that I would not be chased for costs.

It was pretty stressul to be fair and took over two years to resolve! I had to send in a load of bank statements etc like they have asked you for. I had the money to pay for the hire car but my arguement was 'why should I pay for a hire car, for a no fault accident? thats what insurance is for!'

They even wanted me to justify why I had a 430 and I just told them that I fully expected a like-for-like car, the gallardo cost me £87k, why should I be without it for 35 days through no fault of my own???

It seems clear that the insurance company have not been able to recover the costs and are now pursuing you for it, do you have copies of anything you signed?

Same situation for us, just exhange Gallardo for Elise and F430 for MX5

  9. They are trying to avoid taking the insurance company to court. Send a copy on to your insurance company reminding them they are required to pay it....

This was one element of the fiasco we were in court for. The claimant sees the insurance company and you as one (through the eyes of the law) hence you being contacted. Part of your insurance will be legal cover? Get them involved....

  10. I run a JL 10W6v2 of a JL Slash 500/1 Amp, best sub ive ever had and really has some power for a 10".

Same amp with a 10W7 on the end. And I couldn't agree more!

Most people think there are a couple of 12's in the car when it drops
