  1. What put me off the RX8 the most was the necessity to check the oil at every second tank of fuel. JK
  2. Dear Mr TheMinel... Whats this about a meet in Umbria? Might even persuade my partner (fluent in Italian) it would be a good run... JohnK
  3. Wow! That Sunset looks good in the sunshine! What? Oh, sorry, thought I was supposed to look at the car ..

  5. UK Spec Z? Is she a member? johnK
  6. Thanks for the warnings. Did use it before on my Saab exhaust tail trim for some time and didn't have any problems - but I do rinse off after a minute or two with soapy water. JohnK
  7. I used Wonder Wheels on mine last weekend. Worked fine including the inside of the tips. JohnK
  8. Sorry, should have said... These are the GT4 wheels
  9. After my track day I felt it would be good to have the re-assurance of a basic upgrade to the braking system. After reading various notes I'm planning: a) Replace fluid with Motul Replace pads, probably with Redstuff I'm not intending to do anything other than road use (sometimes spirited!) So, does this sound like a good plan? Or have I missed something obvious? Cheers, JohnK
  10. I'm having my two nearside wheels refinished this week (I finally feel I know how wide this thing is now! ) Wheel man says the finish is painted with an "illusion" finish - something about black first then a semi-transparent silver, then the lacquer. When I look at them the painting is now obvious but I'd never thought before about them being anything other than an lacquered alloy finish! Anyway, are any of the other Nissan alloy wheels painted in this way? Cheers JohnK p.s. I'll let you know the results of the job!
  11. Not sure what this is. My first guess was the lower lip under the bumper, but that is straight and this looks curved...... I'd like to know as well! JohnK
  12. Does anyone know where the GT4 demonstrator (L22 UST) ended up? At one time I thought the numberplate might just be cosmetic but last autumn I was passed on the M40 by a roadster plated as L44 UST, so I guess it was genuine. Thanks, JohnK (Trying not to be GT4 boring...)
  13. There's quite a few little niggles but they are all irrelevant when you turn the key and listen to that exhaust Then you dirve it and your grin becomes a premanent fixture. After my first test drive I was sitting in a hotel restaurant and telling my son, by phone about the test drive. He said "so, how much do you like it?" I replied, well its a rotten night, pitch black, pouring with rain and if it was parked in the car park outside I'd have to go out and play again!". And that was the same day I'd test driven a nice new 3.5 SLK. It just has to be driven - both to decide and then, when you've got it, to enjoy! I like mine so much I keep getting tempted to buy another just to split my excessive mileage! Cheers, JohnK
  14. Details recorded - thanks. JK
  15. Thanks for that. Re the pic: But I want mine to come up Yellow not Sunset! (Sorry couldn't resist....) Like the full set of pics though. Obviously a well-loved example. Cheers! JOhnK
  16. Washed my Z today, cleaned the alloys and the tail pipes! Looked under the bonnet and, horror of horrors, its getting dirty! Whats the current way of cleaning the enginer bay? (When I were a lad it were steam-cleaning - do we use pressure washers now, and where should we avoid??) TIA, JohnK
  17. Morning all. My front brakes have been making intermittent scraping noises the last few ways. Two questions then: 1) What sort of pad life should I get as a moderate to light driver (except track days!)? 2) Is there an easy way to check pad wear without taking wheels off? )The discs look ok - no sign of scoring). TIA, JohnK
  18. Try: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %26fvi%3D1
  19. Not my cup of tea, but set me thinking.... Maybe we could do non-permanent customisations using Vinyls. They seem to use Vinyls for the frequent livery changes on trains nowadays. Has anyone tried? JohnK p.s. I'm still resolved to keep my GT4 to OEM spec!
  20. One day of use and I thought I'd report back .... One round trip so far, the 35 miles cros-country to one of my customers. Very easy to use. Chose Shortest Route and then drove my usual route, noting where the differences were (I know all the traffic hotspots to ignore and enjoy the drive). The only major hiccup was the A road closure close to home which confused it for quite a while. Coming back, I put in a Via point and once on my way our routes were very similar. Only just fits in the dash cubbyhole (height is tight!). Thought I might dislike the 3D landscape mapping (I'm a great fan of the (2D) Ordnance Survey maps from my days of rally navigating) but I found the display both accurate and easy to follow. So far: 9 out of 10 - but I expect I'll get nit-picky as time progresses. Now to get all those Tesco 99RON filling stations in as Points Of Interest! Cheers, JohnK
  21. But as has been said before (by myself and others) the new x10 series wont fit in the dash cubbyhole. The extra 1cm height will require surgery! JohnK
  22. Some of you may find this new forum of use. Had a quick look but it's probably early days yet.... http://nissanhelp.cjb.net/ Cheers, JohnK
  23. Come on you GT4 Owners. Send me your details. I'd like to see if there is any pattern between build numbers and limited edition numbers - and, of course I'll let you know. Personal details WILL be kept confidential - I'm very reliable (my estranged wife said it was a less than endearing quality!!) Cheers all, johnk@pceffect.co.uk or johnk@transportdiversions.com
  24. Previous posts have indicated reception is fine, but I'll let you know! JohnK
  25. Great idea re: the Nissan Dealers. Gues we'll also need the GreenEnergy list of Tesco 99 Ron stations (found at http://www.greenergy.com/products/99_oc ... tions.html ) And then the Shell Optimax stations!! JohnK
