  2. i don't get you mate. Surely the Utec (which is cheaper than your quoted prices above) would be instead of the above mentioned? (apart from the Zeitronix) No need for harness as far as i understand, and tuning it (given that we found a place to do it at...) surely would be cheaper than that £800???? I'm pretty sure you need a harness - but I'll double check what I've read. You also need a tuner box to attach the sensors and that weighs in at just under 500$. The Utec box is around the 1000$ mark. And they need their own proprietary AFM gauge - my wideband AEM UEGO is incompatible - so not only would that have to be fitted, but a whole new O2 bung would have to be welded on as well. ££££££ + Tuning it will probably be cheaper - what I meant to say was, that price I stated was including installation. I don't know what someone would charge for setting it up properly though because naturally nobody over here has done one yet. It would be good to get all 5 maps onto it though. It's a snowball effect... not sure its good vfm, but it DOES look a good piece of kit!
  3. Hmmm. Would YOU spend £1600 on an ECU, harness, and new gauges and sensors because your existing one couldn't be reused? And then another £800 or so on tuning? That would make the ECU more expensive than the charger!!! I do like the look of it, but at present I'm trying to find out what the pin-outs are for the European ECU so I can see if it would actually work! Stephen
  4. (from my 350z blog that was last updated 4 months ago ) the harness being inspected by my cat The company : http://www.autosportwiring.com/ The person to speak to : Richard - richard@autosportwiring.com
  5. I bought an autosport wiring harness that gives you a full ECU 'breakout' without touching the existing ECU wires and terminals. I can give you a link if you want. I also bought colder plugs, an oil pan spacer (does the job, quarter of the price of the bigger oil pans), and the essentials are hi-flo cats and a decent exhaust. Any other q's, just ask... prescience
  6. Hi there guys LOTS of information - will put it into one big post and probably start a new thread. In the meanwhile... does anyone have a diagram of the pin-outs for a European 350Z ECU?
  7. Not sure I'd put the car in pic 4 in gear without checking VERY carefully Just seen my skirts on car 6! First time I've seen them on another car other than on the manufacturer's website.
  8. Cheers Matt. Well, I'm off up to Abbey today to see how the problem manifests, so I can better articulate the problem. I think they've hit a wall on this (not literally!) so it's a question of either being able to solve it myself or come up with a different solution. Stephen
  9. Just picking up on the fact that you told me it wasn't a replacement ECU, immediately after I told you I knew it was a piggy-back
  10. hence my slowly growing interest... seriously though, the Apexi PowerFC unit (which I don't believe exists for our engine) was a very impressive piece of kit, and I'd like to see similar for the Z.
  11. From my old Celica days, you lost quite a lot of 'European only' ECU stuff when you swapped over a replacement ECU; to wit, the immobilizer, climate control, and some other in-car electrics. Any danger of that happening here? I know it's an 'advanced' level piggy back, but would there be any ECU stuff that would cease to work with this unit?
  12. not sure - but if you send them me I can definitely forward them. I believe the problem arises because of the 'option' settings which are not uploaded. Abbey have told me that SS have been superbly helpful, but the problem currently is that they don't know what the active settings are for loading back into the SS box. Stephen
  13. Yep, cheers for that. Dan now has those figures but I don't know how that has progressed. Matt - is there a person at Vortech you'd recommend me or my tuning shop to talk to? Stephen
  14. But yours wasn't tuned ...? Arrrgh! Anyway, from what I can gather from talking to them this morning; as soon as you set a SYSTEM setting, the car refuses to rev over 4000 revs. I'm looking at the map you sent me on 22nd December but apparently those aren't the settings they are after ... ?
  15. I don't think they know, which is why they are liaising with SS. However they told me that the guys at SS have been extremely helpful which is why they are positive this can be sorted. I'm scratching my head as to why this should be different for the UK than it is for the US though. Is it the copy of the software we have, or is it something stupid like localisation settings? (I was even thinking of telling them to change to US localisation to see if that makes a difference!) Any ideas - no matter how leftfield - gratefully received.
  16. It's no longer a connection problem, apparently It's the fact that the values the box brings up are different parameters from the ones you'd want to set. Why this is, I have no idea. They're on the case but I didn't get a chance to speak to them yesterday; so Monday now, hopefully. Stephen
  17. Hi Simon So remind me again, 350Z with Supercharger (oil tapped off the block), what oil do you recommend?
  18. Keeps saying, "too many connections to user 350ZUKadmin" or similar. Started at about 6pm and been doing it up until half an hour ago. Took an hour to get back on!

  20. I can answer this. GM cars ARE faster - there are more forced induction GM cars than any other colour in the UK. So there you go. Topic closed.
  21. OK, but according to Dorian (prescience), this doesn't happen.
  22. I can't imagine I'm that far off getting this thing going. I have a tuner, a box, a cable, a dyno, and a car sat waiting to be tweaked! What knowledge are we missing? So the base map doesn't upload to the PC when doing an upload - OK - what's the solution to getting the values out of the SS box then?
