Can someone please explain what a 'shelled' bearing is? (I know what a big-end bearing is, just not what the term 'shelled' means in this context) Also, doesn't say if this is from a UK spec or JDM car.

I say Baloney. Firstly, if the car was a full UK spec and purchased new, any problems would be covered under the 3yr warranty. Unless, of course, they were due to abuse; fried clutch, lack of engine oil etc. (or crashes). Also, the Z doesn't have cambelts - it has timing chains which will generally last the life of the engine. £6-7000 on modifications I could believe, but not on maintainence.

There are speed measuring systems out there that can work in the dark, SPECS for example although this is of the 'fixed' type. There is also a system called MAROM, which is a portable/mobile sytem that uses infra-red. It's been trialed in the UK, but as far as I'm aware is not yet type-approved. What you probalby saw was an ANPR van. You'll know for certain it wasn't a speed-camera van, if you don't get a brown envelope through the door in the next couple of weeks.

Nowhere in the manual does it state 'Do not use synthetic oil' or 'Only use mineral oil.' Nissan would be on very shaky ground if they tried to deny an engine warranty claim solely because of using synthetic oil - Provided it met the specifications defined in the manual. However, they would have more grounds to deny a warranty claim if you used 5W-40 (synth or mineral) as nowhere in the manual does it list this as a recommended or approved grade (I know it doesn't say don't use it either). I know that is unlikely as a '5W' spec is approved in the manual as a 5W-30 and the '40' spec as a 10W-40 - the 5W-40 just has a wider viscosity spread. And, FWIW, I've been running full synth in my 350Z since 4.5k with no problems what so ever.

RRP is £53.30, but It's possible to get them cheaper. I paid £47.99 for mine, and IIRC mjpauto do then for about £43.
