Newbie Considering a 350Z coming from a Porsche
rtbiscuit replied to Tain's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
that would be me then it wasn't that i didn't like the zed, its the fact that its looks wrote checks its body couldn't cash. i suppose my expectations were to high. but i could never get the kind of sound out of it i'd hoped for. its not the best sounding V6 in the world but exhausts help. its one of the few cars the seating position did my hips in. if i took my preconceptions out of the picture the zed is a nice car, but i'd rather have the porsche. if i had to down grade form the porsche and wanted to maintain the pure driver focus i'd be looking at the M3's. if your wanting a fun weekend car i'd be looking at the TVR's. great sounding V8's stunning lookers and rare. the one thing the zed did give me was some great new friends. and a forum that i haven't left since changing cars twice since the zed. -

what are they like to drive? if your new to RWD they are a good starter car, very safe and very balanced and as they are heavy they feel planted Is the suspension harsh? not really, stock suspension is pretty user friendly, its a GT car after all so made for long distance cruising in comfort Whats the power delivery like? very linear, which makes it feel slow, untill you look at the speedo and realise how fast your going although it has 270 bhp newer models around the 300 mark it won't have the kick that turbo cars have, but has plenty of grunt for in gear acceleration and overtaking. How do you find running costs? petrol is £1.33 a litre it takes 80 litres to fill up, on normal driving a tank will do around 300 miles perosnally i don't think thats bad for a V6 but its no prius. it will use tyres if you drive it hard, 18" for a price idea 245/45/18 and 225/45/18. 3 services p1, p2, p3 and it alternates around them p1 is about £150-£200 p2 and 3 are around the £300 mark. Any major services i need to be aware of? no timeing belts to worry about all chain driven Any thing i really need to look out for when buying? clicky rear axle, burning oil, bad gearboxes I am trying to find one quite low mileage - something between 30k to 50k... autotrader Any advise/help would be great guys. go drive one, everyone has different tastes in cars, go see if you like it nad if its the car for you. just out of interest what are you coming from? car wise? -

plastic ones are probably the best as they flex more with impact. but you'll find alot of even the name brand aftermarket bumpers are fibreglass. i think the main thing is to go for quality. rule of thumb, what you save in money on the bumper you end up spending in the bodyshop. also cheap bumpers tend to have a crap gappy fit.

top up with oil, think it needs about 2/3 of a litre maybe half a litre to take it from the bottom mark to the top mark. the dipstick is not the easiest to read. once you have a top mark reading, take a mileage reading and then check to see how much it uses over how many miles. i.e. is it using 1 litre every 500miles 1000 miles 2000 miles. preferably get it to a good independent to do the checks.

i use an elm 327 bluetooth unit and the torque app on my phone. if thats not handy i stick a bannana in the OBDII port and read the code on a satsuma

blue smoke generally means oil being burnt, white smoke is usually water. red smoke means someone stucka flare up your exhaust might just be the decats and everything settling in. when was the last time you checked the oil level? what is the oil level? is it less than when you last checked? this first simple tests tell you if your car is using oil. if it is the next thing to work out is where is the oil going. oil can be used up just through engine wear, so don;t suddenly panic, might mean you need to run a thicker oil. if it is using oil i would suggest a compression test. it will tell you if the cylinders are holding compression and if not which cylinders. this might be due to wear of the seals. this would mean oil is coming up from the sump and being burnt in the combustion process.

depends how far you want to go. some of ths suffolk coast areas are good and have some nice roads. ipswich to aldburgh has som enice bits if you go the scenic route. round rendlesham forest is nice driving. tons of country lanes as most of suffolk is village and farming and 2 towns ipswich and bury the rest is farmland. -

Estate Agent problems, what would you do?
rtbiscuit replied to chettle's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Careful with your words ! My wife is in estate agency and I don't feel that she comes under your ignorant description. with any trade there are good examples and bad examples but it tends to be with estate agents there are more bad than good. i dealt with alot there are a couple of agencies i've black listed in my area completely some where i will only deal with specific people and the rest can get stuffed. and just 1 agency that i think is actually good at their job. I'm glad to hear your wife is good at her job, and if i was in your area and needed an agent, i would be straight down to see her if she is good. . but have to agree the system needs a major overhaul and some decent regulating put in place. concidering how much they charge and what the job actually entails alot of them are self inflated egotistical w@nkers/bitches. the invention of things like rightmove.com etc have made a huge improvement because its reduced the amount you actually have to go in and talk to agents. if some one set up a no bullsh1t and honest agency who answered the phone and returned calls, with sensible fees and a real customer orientated service would make an absolute killing in some areas. -

how may tenants you got Rich ? 2 tennants. also dealt with landlords when renting at Uni. check your rental agreement first, if your through a rental agency send an email or letter of complaint, this shows logged paper work then, then depending on your rental agreement you can take further action. -
i like the wood finish they used.

i did try them all stacked together and the middle focal point was very small, but for general playing they aren't bad, as i progress i'll probably upgrade to something more substantial.

as a landlord you technically need to ask permission to enter the premises. many dont though. we always ring our tennants first and arrange an appropriate time. or we knock on the door and ask. -

good luck with the valves, i hope it keeps going, onr of the things i come across with these is the fact that the valve jams. often requiring either a strip down or complete replacement. which one did you use?
