That's the thing Keyser, just doing the there and back and I reckon that's £120 in fuel alone, would be great catching with you guys, I'll wait and see when the bumper arrives what the fit behind is like. I've got most of the kit already, just need to find somewhere dry to do it. Even got plenty of steel plates and an anvil to shape on. Just nice to do jobs like this with a mate for moral support.

a jag without rust is not a jag, its a kit car yes the new bumper meets at the bottom of the lights and then goes round the sides to the wheel arches, the edges that are visible are then blended in. i'm going to be doing that and the paint prep, and i'm also toying with borrowing the angle grinder and mig welder from work and doing the rust removal and bumper fitting myself as it will save me £400 if i do it myself. alternatively i was wondering if the boys in the zed shed fancied a new challenge and a jumbo box of delux biscuits and cakes?

get some quotes the further north you go the cheaper it tends to get, the closer to london you are the more expensive it is.

if its only an exhaust system, there are plenty of custo exhaust builders who can fabricate straight onto the car at what ever spec you want. whats your location?

at a guess yes, but zmanalex would be your best bet for an accurate answer. there is a difference between left and right hand drive cars, and exhausts made for left hand cars don;t fit uk cars very well as the diff is in the way. but a jap car is right hand drive so it should theortically bolt straight on.

1) would a full colour change have a catastrophic effect on the resale value? Depends on what it is, but generally no, although a vinyl wrap can be hiding unknown damage underneath as you never know what its like till you remove it, which can put some buyers off. if your looking at a full paint job then its about £2k for exterior only and near 4K if you have all the engine bay and door shuts done etc. 2) might a smart repair job on these marks, followed by a vinyl wrap be a better idea? Not a bad idea, but a vinyl wrap can lift smart repairs when you reomve thevinyl if your not careful. 3) how long does a wrap last if you take care of it? How longs a piece of string; depends on the vinyl who fitted it, how its cared for,, what the weathers like. there are some new finishes out there that are good for 10 years. i'm looking into some stuff from the states but its not cheap 4) any other suggestions on tackling these that I haven't thought of? no 5) is it legal to shoot seagulls if they cr@p on your car? yes

for now i think the lights will wait, i'll get the rear on, and then see the budget, and i might order the sides to go on after.

i'm also going to get rob at likwid art to run me up some new rear badges. a new jaguar text for the left and a new XKR badge on the right but using the facelifted "R" design badge

while i'm at it i'm going to fit some reversing sensors as well. but it will be a hidden install as i don;t want any rear boot acne on the clean back end. i may even blend the spoiler in for a smooth look at the same time.

there was a slightly cheaper bumper option which was this But it only came with square cut outs which were 5" x 5" and the only tips that fit it are square jaguar ones at £300 for a set, which brought the price of the bumper up to the same as the one i've got coming, but on the one i've got coming i can easily get the guys who built the original exhaust for me to alter it slightly and put some round tips in for a fraction of the cost. Either way it was going to be expensive, but this way also allows me to showcase the hydrographics, like i have in my engine bay. and soon will have in my interior and some other exterior parts.

but you're missing mine; this bumper was chosen not because its the prettiest but because it comes up to under the lights, it means that I can do low quality welding under neath it as it cut out the rust and weld plates in. because there is so much rust to cut out it would cost a lot of money in filler restoring the shape of the car. this bumper allows me to cut the rust out, weld basic plates in, rust proof paint them and waxoil them to stop the rust coming back. it won't look pretty, but then the big bumper goes on top. hides all the repairs and looks pretty on top. to put it in monetary terms its the difference between a £2k job this was or a £4.5k to keep it looking standard. it would need 2 new rear rings, that's £1000 a piece, to fit them requires the rear screen, and the side windows removing, the whole back of the car dismantling, the old rearwings de seamed and unwelded, both rear wings welded on, and then blended back in. all the glass remounting. then the whole back of the car painting. doing it my wayshould leave money to dothe sides as well, butits a job that can wait a few months if necessary where the rear can't as the mot is next month and a rear bumper is some what vitsl to passing it.

jaguar have a range, mine is in anthracite pearl = golds turquoises in the paint. they did one called; I think; amerthyst, (I used it on my engine) in some lights it looks black, in others it looks purple

good man, might also be worth finding somewhere else to fit them that won't charge nearly £200

alright quad lights are off the table. @ekona, I have sorted all the oily stuff, the engine is now top notch, and I have sorted most of the rust, underside of the car is now done, and this rear bumper is part of sorting the rust at the rear. next job is to sort the rust on the side sills and the leading edge of the rear arch, and that's when the sides go on to match the rear. but I have to do it a bit at a time as I don't have the budget to do the whole car in one go. depending on how much I can do my self I might have enough budget left over to do the sides at the same time.

that's right it was Scott, he had good intentions, but poor business acumin, dealing with a guy doing the carbon work who was unreliable. the weave pattern was nice, the replacement trim to go round the back of the engine was ok. but I fitted the b pillars for tarmac and they were not the best fit.
