  1. Hello, finally got round to fitting the new HU yesterday and all went well with the install. 1 issue I am left with though is after purchasing the car the rear driver speaker did not work. I was hoping it was the stock HU which would not be a problem knowing at some point that it would be changed but yesterday confirmed that it is the speaker (or wiring to it). I tested the wiring and it is open circuit so suspect the coil on the speaker. If I am going to pull half the car to bits to get to the speaker I might as well purchase replacement speakers regardless if it is the speaker or not. The car is a non bose so looking at 4ohm, at least 50w rms direct replacement coaxial speakers that I can just swap straight over. Any recommendations.
  2. Spotted this morning coming towards me. Painted grey that looks that primer and a big wing on the back. Looked quite tasty!
  3. Wow the robots are taking over. Real shame though!
  4. Is this kit available. I would love to get one for my son for Christmas.
  5. Don’t scrap it off. We need to keep the Zeds on the road. The comments on here suggest it needs a few quid and a bit of TLC. If you do not want to carry out the work then sell her on as a project. I’m sure there will be plenty of takers at the right price.
  6. Thanks guys for your suggestions. I was hoping for something a little closer about 25-30 mile radius of Darlington. Halifax is a little too far to travel.
  7. Like the title says really. I am looking to fit a new flywheel and clutch but struggling to find a garage around the Darlington area to carry out the work. Zmanalex has offered me a great deal on the items required (as he does with everyone) but I am either finding garages who will not fit supplied parts or garages who I believe are ripping me off for labour charges. Also taking into account that I do not know of any known good garages in the area this is turning into a real pain. I know a clutch is a clutch but I would prefer to send the car to a garage with 350 experience. I don’t mind travelling a few miles around the northeast for the right garage if you guys can point me in the right direction.
  8. Thanks, LUK was the flywheel I was looking at. As far as I understand they are the OEM for the 350. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  9. So read loads of posts and now I am baffled by all the clutch talk. My sons Zed has now covered 90,000 miles (HR model) on its original clutch and the CSC has been noisy for a while but now getting worse. He is also saying that he is now getting a slight vibration through the gear lever. Time for a new clutch, CSC and flywheel. He is all for a lightweight flywheel and upgraded clutch being the young buck he is but me being an older engineer, prefer mechanical sympathy and hate the thought of clutch chatter and vibration. I would prefer to stay with a DMF. I have persuaded him to stick with DMF for now. What are your thoughts and recommendations. Obviously cost plays a part and I realise that a DMF costs more than a SMF but we still have be realistic on price as it will only be driven on the road and apart from the revup map, filters and exhaust will not be receiving any more power upgrades.
  10. His first championship doing it on his own without cheating the cost cap and Horner slipping Michael Masi a few quid the year before that! I’m not bitter, honest!
  11. 2 spotted this afternoon at Sainsbury’s in Bishop within a minute of each other. Not many around this area. First a blue one then in the petrol station (where else would you see them) a wrapped grey one.
  12. What’s important about the reset button. Is that not for the auto function. Sorry for sounding a bit thick!
  13. Hi the passenger side window has stopped working. I can hear a click from the door panel so I am assuming it is the motor. Does anyone recommend a particular brand as a replacement (eBay or Amazon specials) or should I pay the extra and go OEM or similar?
  14. It would be nice to see Alonso fighting for a top spot this year as he still has the talent and not afraid to get stuck amongst it. Hope McLaren get sorted as I like to see Lando do well. Red Bull and Max, well no change from me from last year or the year before! 😡
  15. Is the reversing camera the type that incorporates into the ref plate light? It looks good. Can you please send me the eBay link.
  16. Same here. I could do with uprating the boot springs!
  17. Could always ask him to mot the car as part of the deal. That would give you an idea of the condition of the car. If it is as good as he makes out then he should have the confidence to mot it prior to selling it.
  18. Came as a shock. There’s something ironic about racing drivers and snow! Very sad news and a big miss to car fans.
  19. That’s different! Never seen that approach before.
  20. That’s the type of camera I was thinking about👍
  21. I purchased a ew Pioneer for my son for Christmas. Part of the purchase included a free reversing camera so I thought brilliant. We are about to carry out the installation of the HU and camera but I do not think the camera is going to be easy to fit due to the type of fitting. It is a cube type with an external bracket. can anyone recommend a camera that they have fitted and any photos would be helpful. I’d rather purchase a camera that I know will fit and put the freebie on eBay.
  22. I do not know the answer to that but the bits I’ve read and YT vids suggest you can but not with an amplified aerial as it filters out the high frequencies DAB operates on but you do then need a splitter. I’m sure someone will come along with more knowledge on the subject than me.
  23. I contacted Incartec and they supplied a full list of items required for the install to maintain the steering wheel controls etc. I am now thinking of putting a revering camera on the car at the same time. I do not like the look of the Pioneer camera as it looks too after market. I would prefer something that looks more OEM if you know what I mean. Does anyone have any recommendations and possibly a photo showing the camera installed. On yet another note going back to the aerial. If I am running a cable to the rear of the car could I run a coaxial cable directly to the aerial on the rear wing bypassing the amplifier and then fit a splitter so I could use the original aerial for both DAB and FM reception? I would of thought one of you guys would have tried this😁
  24. Hello, just after a little advice. I am thinking of purchasing the above head unit but I am a little confused about the facia surround and harness required for the steering controls. I’ve been on different websites and I am not sure if there is a difference between the earlier and HR models. It is a base model without the Bose upgrade but I do not think that would make a difference regarding the wiring adapters for the controls. Any links to the correct parts would be fully appreciated. Also what’s the best solution regarding the DAB aerial?
