So for a bit of clarity to all - my insurer is Admiral and from when I spoke with them yesterday they seem to be taking responsibility for this which is good and hopefully one less headache.

They have said it is being passed to their internal assessment / valuation team who will call us in the next couple of days to discuss £££.

They have also said this isn't the first time it's happened???? All be it with a different garage lol. The case handler I spoke to said she has dealt with 4 similar cases alone!

So as daft as it may seem, I would imagine considering how often this happens, they must have a process for handling this issue!

Now I just get to barter for the value of the car! ;)

If anybody sees any high priced adverts for zeds, feel free to drop a link to it!

From our experience, Admiral are good eggs. We've had a multi-car policy with them for 10+ years, although the Z is insured elsewhere currently.

When we did have to claim though Admiral some years ago (wife reversed into a parked vehicle, bless - very minor damage and a dark and rainy evening in her defence) they were very efficient and it was all handled and settled very efficiently.

I do, however, appreciate that your case is a bit more, erm, complicated. I do hope that they resolve this to your satisfaction - good luck.

  2. First and third Saturdays of the month, from 09:30. Went along this morning and good to see another couple of Zs there, one being a lovely 1970 240Z.

Billed as a "classic" meet, but there was a good mix of old and new. Well organised with tea/coffee/breakfast/loos available too.

Let's try and get a few more Zs there next time!

I've been pondering over what wheels to get for my 370Z for a long time and i'm almost at the point of purchasing some but i've hit a snag... (have searched the web, including fitment industries and the forum extensively with no firm answer)

I want to get a set of Rota Grids (my choice, I know they may not be to everyone's taste) in the following set up:

    19 x9.5J ET38 Front

    19 x 10.5J ET20 Rear

The reason for this setup up is that this pushes the wheels slightly further than the Nismo wheels and i don't ant to use spacers at all. The car (although not strictly a daily driver) needs to remain well useable on the road as I use it for work occasionally.

I had been talking to driftworks and a couple of other companies and there are mixed answers on whether the fronts will clear the brake caliper, I know the front wheels are close and spoke design on any aftermarket wheels will have an impact but with a 9.5J running a 38mm positive offset I thought this would be enough.

    Any help appreciated

Currently going through thoughts of aftermarket wheels myself. I'm considering going down from 10.5 and 9.5 to 9.5 and 8.5. There seems to be more options that way and I can still use the standard 245 and 285 tyres as well.

Could you post a photo of your car here with the Rota wheels on? I've been looking at that brand, amongst a few others.

    Thanks.

I know the feeling. Spent £3.5k on custom made work emotions from Japan without tyres for my mark 2 Nismo. Willtheyfit.com was my source.

Truely stunning wheels. I guess they are the the ones on your old Z that I saw at Ace this year?

I spoke to Wheelbase Alloys yesterday, one of the very few suppliers who have an individual fitment guide - very helpful. I might give Tarmac Sportz a call as well.

Can't say I've ever heard of them but the offsets will work - slightly more aggressive than stock but nothing too crazy

Thanks for the comment Dave - having never delved into the world of non OEM wheel fitments I'm a bit worried about getting it wrong! Loathe to trust some wheel suppliers who only give a V2 Nismo the option of 18" rims when they're 19" and other conflicting information!

Then of course I've learnt that just because the offsets of the standard fronts and rears are "X" and "Y", they needn't necessarily need to be "X" and "Y" again when it comes to their OEM replacements.

With reference to the Savini BM12 examples, that's the general style I'd change to, if I do. When you say "slightly more aggressive than stock" I assume you mean they'll sit further out into the arches?

Best bet is to take the wheels off the one side and note the spec printed on the inside of the alloys.

As you say, take off the wheels to get the data printed onto the inside of the wheel.

The offsets on this dataset differs from the one you supplied above. Euro market model Nismo, 2012 - 2022.

  7. I'm considering replacing my standard Rays wheels with something different next year - CSL style/deep dish - along those sort of lines.

However, I need some data (offset/PCD) on my standards so I can end up with the new wheels sitting identically to the removed ones. Rim width and diameter to remain as standard so that current tyre sizes can be used.

    Any guidance and info appreciated.

    Thanks.
