These are still available and ready to go -
this has been on my radar for a whilst too. Interested to see which way you go with it

I've done a hundred miles or so now with the new shifter over the last week. First impressions are i really like it but it will take some getting used to. Its got a really precise mechanical feel to it, throw is super short as expected and requires more force. I don't think i would want to daily it mind, but for people who really like to drive their cars its really worth considering. Only down side is when my gearbox is stone cold 1st to 2nd has never felt great and with this setup only exaggerates that as now everything is more more solid, but after a couple of miles isn't an issue.

could be a stretched cable
-
Cheers, they look great and still easily adjustable if not using rails
-
i'm going full on fixed back side mounted.... not particularly practical but hey ho. Not done too much research on the mounts yet but i'll bear that in mind about the planted ones. I'll also see what GSM recommend when i'm there
-
cheers mate, as long as they're nice and sturdy
-
yeah its just me who drives mine so I'll happily trade it for that extra inch of head room. Which seat brackets are you going for? A lot of people seem to go with the Planted ones
-
i may pick your brains once i get my seats further down the line mate. I think i'll have to hard mount mine to the floor as I'd really like a bit of extra room for my helmet

Big list of updates this time first up, whiteline drop link set to the new ARB... coilovers could do with a clean then swapped out the gearbox mount for the new vibratechnics one got rid of the big daft plastic number plate surround off the front bumper. Made a new one from some stainless and welded some countersinks in place to mount it. Also painted it to match the nismo bodykit (relally happy with the paint match) and machine polished the area around where the original mount had rubbed and scratched the paint. Mounted with rubber gaskets between the bumper and new mount to stop any chaffage. New plate is shorter to suit 5 digits. Fitted the Braum harness bar. I am pleased with the outcome but dissappointed with Braum really. No problems with the bar itself, good and sturdy and mounting points are suitable, but the finish on the paint is crap (loads of imperfections under the surface) and flakes as soon as you touch it... really poor for the price of it. On top of that came with NO instructions so took a lot of figuring out on hope to use it and retain the stock 3 point belts for road use as well (if anyone has taken the stock belt assmebly apart you'll know what i mean). Made a cardboard jig before taking a hole saw to the boot carpet (i've kept the top carpet and stored it and just cut through the thicker bottom carpet). Last up I removed and painted the door handles again to match the nismo body kit. 3 coats primer, 4 paint & 4 lacquer. Has made a big difference for me, the stock grey handles didn't match the car at all. Also a bit different that the usual black others have gone for. If anyone wants the paint code i can dig it out. That's its now for my winter updates apart from the seats, which i wont commit to until i have sat in a load at GSM once restrictions have lifted (I'm 6ft 5 so its important to make the right seat choice for me). All that's left to do is machine polish the entire car come spring time

this looks great! where did you get the cap toppers from?
-
be worth the extra time and effort when its all done... its basically the 1 seat that can do a bit of everything! Any plans for how you're going to get it to sit as low as possible?

Nice work bud, going to look amazing when you're done!

I'm enjoying what you're doing with this, amazing work! Attention to detail is top draw -
Don't say that, I don't think i can cope with any more cancelled trackdays! In reality hoping for the best but expecting the worst

There on the 17th if you fancy it I can send you the link to the organiser. Or even if you just want to come along for some passenger action let me know. Going with some mates (S2000, RX7 and MR2)

cheers pal, got to keep busy somehow during these strange times I feel like i should have a disclaimer at the start of this thread... rather than the intended 70% 30% track this car is more like 35% road 15% track 50% axle stands haha. Car has been up on stands since the start of November with me slowly sorting stuff out for spring time so I've not driven it yet. I have sat in it and rowed through the gears and it feels really good. Still waiting on the arrival of the gearbox mount to complete it. Also I've booked 3 trackdays for this year already (booked before we got locked down again). Donnington Park in March, Anglesey in June and Cadwell Park in July if anyone else wants to book on and get involved. Need to get a couple of days at Oulton Park booked for this years as well as that is home territory for me (I'm fortunate enough to only live 20 mins away).

Quick progress update, didn't get much time in the garage over Christmas but there is still some progress. Removed the gaiter and refitted the trim around the new shifter. Fitted the new big fat front rollbar. Wish I had taken a picture of it next the stock bar as its a notable step up in diameter and weight so combined with the other handling mods should make a big difference. Also noticed a very tiny amount of wear from the oil cooler lines chaffing so i fitted some silicone tubing round and leathered it with rubber grease. Not really necessary as the oil cooler has been fitted for a few years and the witness marks from rubbing were minimal but it keeps me busy. Plus the silicone can be considered as sacrificial protection and will keep the oil lines tip top. And finally got round the fitting the Z-speed undertray. Its an extremely good bit of kit and I'm supper happy with it. The extra support to the front splitter and arch liner is a big plus as well. Came with a Riv nut kit of its now held on entirely with M6 fasteners. I also re-tapped all the existing holes to freshen them up and clear out any rust from the stock bolts (taking a little extra times with these things helps save time in the long run).

Congrats! looks super tidy already going off the pictures -
Cats out the bag now. Harness bar arrived yesterday to go with the out of date Sabelt harnesses i picked up for a bargain a couple of months back (they have barely been used by the looks of them). Booked in early January at GSM to pick some fixed back buckets, which I'll get on 0% finance

thanks for the heads up with this, i wont be refitting the gaitor but i may get something laser cut similar to this from 1.5mm sheet stainless then paint it Yeah the new shifter basically does away with the frame that the stock shifter assembly is mounted to so I am thinking the same that the uprated mount is a must Must admit i am very spoilt with my garage, its my little place to escape to. Even got a little heater in there now to keep my warm when im lay on the floor in there. Also got a small dehumidifier at the back to stop it getting too damp in there. It definitely not that tidy in there at the minute though there is bits of car and tools everywhere The double garage was my only stipulation when we bought the house haha I've made a start kitting it out and she picks all the stuff for the house
-
Yeah I'm thinking the gearbox mount will be a must now! I couldn't believe how crap the stock one was when i took it out. The issue with the engine mounts is they're going to be a pain to fit, i had a little look the other day and i just don't have the tools to get the top nuts off the mounts, the rest is pretty straight forward though. I mean loads of people have done it i just don't have the time or patients for it at the moment. If they don't sell i may keep them to give it a go further down the line.
