  1. I'm trying to test this fuse before I go to ordering a new washer pump. But I can't find the fuse or the box. There's a small fuse box under the battery compartment lid "Fuse box No 2" on the diagram below And there's a larger fuse box under the driver footwell, also on that link. But the third one on the link below "Fuse box No 1", I just can't see it in my real car. The handbook in the car makes no mention of it. Mine's a 2005 UK Spec Z. https://fusecheck.com/nissan/nissan-350z-2003-2008-fuse-diagram
  2. I only realized a couple of years ago I could do this. Been working at hmoe since 2012... ah well.
  3. Thanks. I'll eliminate the possible-but-unlikely "is it the fuse" question then order a new pump. I've found the guide, even I might be able to do that!
  4. The rear one doesn't wash either. Are they all fed from the same?
  5. Last autumn it was being iffy. I investigated and changed the one-way valve under the scuttle panel for a straight connector, and all was good again. However this summer it's gone again. This time there is no one-way connector to cause issues. Blowing water from my mouth into that pipe make it come out of the wipers and blowing air in the opposite direction makes the reservoir tank bubble. From that I'm concluding nothing is blocked. Pulling the level on the steering column does not give me the expected pump motor noise, although separately the headlight washers do work. Is there anything else I could or should try before assuming it's the motor and if it is the motor, where's best to get a replacement? Thanks, Michael.
  6. Thanks. Happy to say my Zed passed it's MOT this year - at least that's one out of three on the driveway. Some advisories but nothing major.
  7. The money will instead go into the pockets of the shareholders.
  8. There is already a system in place where you can summon a car to take you anywhere, without having to drive it or park it - Taxis. Most people prefer to own a car instead. Why would they suddenly swap to a self-driving taxi if a human-driven taxi already wasn't a good enough option to give up the car? Ignoring the negatives of knackered seats and unsolicited opinions. But seriously - we're all going to give up driving because a slight variation on the taxi theme becomes available? Unless it's a lot lot cheaper by the mile than a taxi, I don't think so.
  9. There seems to be a few news reports online that suggest it's real.
  10. Quoting: "We wanted flying cars, instead we got Twitter. We wanted clean energy; we got cryptocurrencies that use as much electricity as Argentina. We wanted sustainable transport, instead we got millions of car-hire drivers"
  11. Does anyone here actually know anyone that wants a self-driving car? I don't.
  12. I doubt Tunnocks have updated their brand since 1890, so I'll go with them first!
  13. Totally agree. I think many industries, cars included, have looked enviously at the mobile phone industry's "endless payment endless bi-annual upgrade" business model and realized how much profit can be made by a subscription model and a shocking waste/turnover of perfectly useable products. By introducing so much more tech into cars, they can make them obsolete so much quicker.
  14. According to the Times, Hybrids would be banned 5 years later after Diesel and Petrol. No mention of trucks I notice - some of the worst polluters. I don't see this working in that timeframe. Not unless the car manufacturers are going to sell for an equivalent price. Unless taxed off the road, people will just hang on to the petrol/diesel cars that are available on the used market. Also - a decision for 10 years away? It's not like the government can stick to a decision for more than a few weeks before reversing it in the fact of actual facts and logic.
  15. From Royal. Figured the orange would sit well with the rest of the orange in the dials. Lovely job. Top and bottom is alcantara, sides perforated leather.
  16. Replacement came from Halfords - a one way valve or a simple hose joiner will do the job. For anyone's future reference : Open up the brake fluid cover (Left hand side of engine bay if you're standing at the front of the car - it's the symmetrical opposite from the battery bay). Once that is open you can reach under the scuttle panel and it's really not very deep inside. Black hose on the left (which eventually goes to the reservoir) and then the white one-way valve and then a transparent (or mine was semi-pink, perhaps stained) on the right. I was able to pull off the black hose with my hands, and the transparent one I needed pliers to get a better grip.
  17. Turns out it was that. Replaced it and it all comes out good as new. Thanks.
  18. At the moment, I can detect no noise now, even at motorway speeds. Hopefully tyres have solved it.
  19. Hi All, Looking for recommendations in Stafford or nearish if possible. I need a garage that is capable of fixing the car if they should fail it, rather than the Kwik-Fit or ATS style of "it's failed but there's nothing we can do to pass it". But I'm hesitant to just hand it over to any old back-street MOT place. Last garage I was using has now closed. Not that expect my Z too fail this time, but I've been caught out with the above scenario before, on a failed W brace. Michael.
  20. So far so good on the new tyres. I really need to get it onto a motorway to be sure but on A roads at higher speeds, so far nothing.
  21. Hi All, Thanks for the advice so far. After about 20 mins of investigation I've got as far as knowing what it is not. The nozzles themselves are clear. Also, if I blow compressed air into the rubber pipe on the passenger side, the water in the tubes will shoot out the wiper on the drivers side until the tube is empty (although not the other way around..). And almost needless to say, I've checked water tank is filled up. The car was not used much for a few months from March-Jun and then even after that, I didn't use the wiper much as it was summer. The motor is working I can hear it and it does have the effect that the water does dribble out the drivers side and comes out the passenger side slightly less pathetically, about a 4cm length squirt. >Don't forget to check the one way valve under the scuttle. Is that something I have to remove the scuttle to get to? Excuse me if that's a novice question. I don't normally do car maintenance myself. Michael.
  22. On the second/longer pull of the lever it just kind of dribbles out. First pull little or nothing. Headlight washers blast out plenty, I can see it in the air. Any ideas how to solve?
  23. Tried it this morning, it's undetectable at lower speeds. New tyres being fitted on Wednesday morning, will test after that.
  24. Nothing on idle, it has to be driving for it to happen. It does feel like a vibration.
  25. My Z has been doing this for a long time but it took me a while to figure out the circumstances, i.e steering right. Any suggestions welcome. I am no mechanical expert. So there's this low drone from the front of the car. Feels like on the drivers side but hard to tell exactly. 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off, over and over. Only when you turn the wheel to the right - even by 0.5 deg it's enough to activate the drone. Turn left or go straight. No drone. Occasionally when turning right, no drone. Volume does not increase with speed of car or angle of turn. 2 second cycle does not appear to change frequency with speed of car or angle of turn. I'm needing some new tyres shortly so I'll see what that does, but I have a feeling it's not them.
