  1. It never showed the eml, so I'm thinking it has been there for a little while. I only use vpower as shell is just down the road. My mechanic wiped the code but we checked again after driving it and it had come back. The only reason we found that it was there was because a dodgy o2 sensor popped up and we checked the codes to be sure of the issue. I'm not driving the car at the moment, so I'm not rushing to fix it even though I have the parts. I'm just struggling to find a garage that knows zeds and can work on quite a low car. The only place near me that could do it quoted 'the full day' to replace the sensor!
  2. Welcome, great people on here so you will never be short on advice should you need any!!
  3. If it helps, for me, a watch is an out of date accessory.. But watches like omega, rolex, tudor etc and other Swiss brands are more than that. When you buy a nice watch your buying a bit of history, something to remind you what hard work gets, something to pass on.. And more importantly in an age where everything is digital and easy, a nice watch is like sticking two fingers up to technology because tradition still stands for something. Bit like the different people who buy a zed.. You can just buy a zed, or you can buy a zed and enjoy the history and tradition that comes with the 'z' badge..
  4. I strongly recommend the brand 'tudor', originally created by the founder of rolex to be an alternative to rolex. In the past few years they have been re-introduced to the uk and are doing really well. Rolex quality at a lesser price. It also seems like they do more edgy designs compared to rolex, in an attempt to compete with the companies that modify rolex watches for customers who want something a bit different (rolex hate people modifying their watches and void warranties and refuse to service them). Some are more than you want to spend, but my favourite is the classic style... what do people think? http://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/2245213/tudor+men%27s+stainless+steel+bracelet+watch/
  5. On another note I think the omega seamaster is amazing, and they've done a James bond edition that's even better. The seamaster will cost like 1500 or just over but the James bond edition is 4600.
  6. i'm pretty confident that Rolex don't "do deals" with independent watch shops. You'll probably find that its a combination of reduction in tax, and most likely brand new/un-worn. You are probably right. Didn't really dig further on the reasons why, but been told Rolex is trying to control that soon due to independent shops selling them cheaper than they do. Bit late to be jumping in on this, but better late than never.. Rolex set the price that all official retailers sell them at. The boutique or store you buy from have no say in the price. There are companies that go abroad and buy them vat free or at a reduced tax rate and sell them in England as 'preowned but un-used'. Rolex are really on top of their brand and pull contracts from any company they think are devaluing their product. Also buying from anywhere other than an official dealer means the watch is not logged on the rolex database as sold in the uk, and warranty would be a nightmare if something went wrong!!
  7. Whilst removing the code for a dodgy lambda sensor me and my mechanic saw this code also on the log.. How many people have had this code? And from research I've found it can be the wiring harness rather than the knock sensor sometimes. Is that correct? I've bought both the sensor and the wiring harness to be sure. My main question is why didnt this code throw up the eml? And would having this code mean the car is down on power? I can't say I've noticed but haven't driven the car much recently and don't thrash it when I do...
  8. Devilishdeb will keep an eye open, If I take the zed for a drive I end up your way at some point usually.
  9. Sam mcgoo! Good lad that's what I was hoping to hear! Haha. I would love to go crazy and spend more on something really special. For me that was going to be the 911 but I couldn't do it knowing how common the engine rebuilds were and how common the issues were. I like the 370z a lot, but it would have to be the nismo edition. But with how little I drive the car as it is I figured depreciation would make it pointless losing that much cash on one over the time I had it. They go for 25k used, I'd bet they're worth 20k in a few years and so on..
  10. With winter coming the cars getting hidden away for a few months. With it out of sight I will have to decide if I want to go for it or not, either way I really need to do something with it. I think the turbo route is not much more expensive is it not? And I don't know enough to say definitively but I would think a supercharger is less strain on the engine as the power is progressively delivered instead of one big lump of power on boost..
  11. I think its just a sweetener to know that the money I may spend is not completely lost in the long run. Just kinda takes the sting out of the initial cost to do it. By the way, I would personally prefer to charge my own motor rather than buy one. With the exception of a zed that's well known on the forum you never know how well it's been looked after. I definitely wouldn't want one that's passed hands several times either.
  12. Evo's in general are great cars and good at what they do. The only thing I can say against them is that I think they are only a nice car when your driving it fast. The zed has so much more than an evo in lots of ways. The evo is a road legal rally car to me and will only be enjoyable when it's driven like that. I like to relax in the motor sometimes, have the engine roar other times.
  13. For me no there isn't a better car for that. When I was looking for a new car I had 3 in mind. But the other two had issues I wasn't willing to risk spending money on: Porsche cayman - had to be the S, bore scoring issues are common and very expensive. Spend up to 15/16k on a good example. Porsche 911 (late 996 or early 997) - same issue with ims bearing and bore scoring, both very expensive and common issues. Spend up to 25k as a guess on the right model. Or the car I've always loved.. 350z with a nismo kit - bulletproof engine, great all round car for me. Only big issue is rust which I was willing to tackle should I have to.. In short, it's a zed or nothing for me.
  14. Thats similar to the one I saw. 06 plate supercharged for that, Likeley to be knocked down to near 8k. Seems a little cheap though? Even if people are put off of the high tax and the lad hasn't had it long.
  15. So 8k for the average mileage clean 'looking' zed is a fair price? My motor in the condition it's in, nismo kit wheels and so on I wouldn't let go for any less than 7k as is. Maybe I over value my motor, but that's me. I'm very handy with my cars, so the idea of saving some cash is good. However I'm drawn more to the idea of h-dev supplying and fitting the lot to avoid errors on my part or the possibility of something failing and knowing whos the fault is (mine, theirs or the parts).
  16. Straight to the point... I know this is a very broad question but all opinions are welcome. How much would an average mileage supercharged zed be worth? Based on a vortech v3 and maybe a 2004 de gt model. A roll in, roll out price for the kit fitted and tuned would be 7.5k on a near standard car. But how much would a charged zed be worth to sell a little further down the line. This question has come about from me convincing myself that I should go for it and it would add some value if well looked after, making the initial cost worth it (spend 7.5k but increase value by maybe 3k for example). Then I recently saw a clean looking zed with average miles advertised at under 8k Opinions please
  17. Possibly, I can't remember haha. Depends on when it was, the car only comes out once a week or so when it's dry. I'm sure I'll spy you at some point.
  18. Welcome mate! I'm a newbie from West Yorkshire too.. Stereo is a big thing that can be a pain, but can be replaced. Check the oils as some burn a little, more so on the later models. Service historys a big thing but you'll know that. Depending on mileage make sure it's had a major service recently with all the oils (engine, gearbox, diff). Finally.. Check those rear arches for rust or bodywork. The rear arches are a bad spot for rust, and are the only part of the car that is prone to it and can't be changed easily. Hope this helps.
  19. I wouldn't get too disheartened by that mate. Some companies broker policies from other companies, and have guidelines to follow on prices. That will be why they asked you to try get a better quote elsewhere and then come back to them. It's likely that they need proof they were matching someone else's prices so they don't get audited and pulled up on a cheap price they gave. Sometimes they just aren't allowed to go that low on a price. Also, it goes on loads of factors, not just your car. It goes on the value of the car you could potentially hit, and new cars are just getting much more expensive.
  20. Dan@adrianflux thanks very much, I'm with you guys at the moment..
  21. As I said on a different post about the s2k, real men want there engine to roar, not scream haha. For me I do like the s2000 but it's just a little too small for me compared to the z.
  22. Thanks guys. Purchasing the zed I ended up with turned out to not be the smartest move for me.. It quickly drained up to 2k getting it up to scratch. Worth every penny though as I know it's the best it can be now (apart from a few things coming up in the pipeline)
  23. I owned an ep3 type r for years, and have been out quite a few times in a friends old s2000. Both lovely cars, and I was a huge Honda fan, the modified Honda scene was spoilt for me.. But to sum up in one statement, the s2000 vs the zed, I would have to say... 'Real men want their engines to roar, not scream' haha
