  1. So, i returned to UK today and straight into the Z. Todays mission was to get the HKS Premium Induction kit from Tarmac to actually fit, given i have the problems of the stillen and oversized radiator.... SO, after discovering theres no way the HKS pipe would fit with the OEM airbox (even with it sliced to a million bits) i decided thats no problem as ill just stick a cone filter on the end of the pipe so all is good. Ordered a Pop charger kit while i was away and got Mr & Mrs Tarmac to arrange for it to arrive the day i returned (perfect delivery by the way! :-) ) so, i wanted this: BUUUUUUT..... after some bad words, minor rage, head scratching, and more bad words, i ended up with this: Why? because the darned strut brace cant clear the air meter plug/socket!!!! Issue being a combination of the stillen inlet being obviously higher than stock, the angle of the air meter on the HKS pipe, and the fact the HKS pipe is all one single part (nice) but limits movement and angle it can sit at.... So, its in a working for now on the stock piping until i either: A ) dump the HKS pipe and get another brand B ) get a custom fab pipe C ) cut the HKS in half and get some silicone hose to join at an interesting angle D ) get some insane custom strutbrace E ) turn into a ball of flame rage and get twin turbos instead Answers on blingless thread post.....
  2. Aw, the poor Sunny Very clean looking underside on your new Z! Any chance of a couple close pics of the Leon Splitter fitted? i guess it give good ground clearance?
  3. So today everything strangely went to plan with no hiccups! Aim of the day was to get the Meister R's fitted in basic form, ie an inch higher than current and be level to let me over the mountain speedbump on my street, all in preparation for the bigger wheels to be fitted along with full alignment and then matching ride height to suit the new wheels. Of course this quickly led to mission 2 of the day......... First up - get the Meister's on: Now to do something with the rear damper adjuster extenders: So while getting the thing at reasonable temporary height with the standard rims, Mission 3 of the day arrived via Mr. Postie from Mr Moped 'Shiney Knob' Mark! After a pain of a time getting the original knob off it was time to return to Mission 1 final phase - do something with the rear damper adjustment extenders, which..... you guessed it, led to Mission 2 of the day....... Which was to do 'something' with the rear brace thingy in general, since i wasn't feeling the silver standard finish, so, from this: to this: Car is a bit dirty but now i can get over speedbumps, and be able to get the bigger wheels on in the next few weeks to let me tinker further with ride height at that point.
  4. The postman came 'a knockin' today Any free time tomorrow is now accounted for!
  5. Yeah.... not any more though :-)
  6. I don't know of any others. There are a few of the similar Interlagos Fire models about though. I would suspect this is a respray or a one off as Brickyard Red was a U.S colour only. Pete Yes Pete its a respray, but a top notch one (staggering invoice im glad i didnt pay :-p ), not a fault to be found anywhere, including behind door shuts, rubbers etc
  7. Yep, it is and i like it a lot, BUT, the wheels dilemma!!!!!! do i go black, chrome, bronze, gold, silver....sigh........
  8. So i'm new to Z ownership and to the forum (thanks for all the welcomes) and entered my 350 time with minimal to mediocre research. Ive owned just about everything over the last 24 years or so, RS turbos, GTEs, skylines, SUVs, M3s, Imprezas, EVOs etc etc but now i find myself in my first 2 seater! (bar a mk1 MR2 i had for a week way back in 2004). So i test drove a HKS S/C a mate (trader) had for sale. I really enjoyed it right away handling and driving wise, but a few other factors of the deal made me think twice.....but i came away from thinking 'why haven't i owned one of these?!?' 72 hours and 5 350z viewings later and i decide to view the mysterious Stillen S/C unknown brickyard 'down sowf'. After much inspections and tracing the real story and history behind it, investigating the few potentially bad news signs on it, and cash saving negotiations and bantering later i end up driving home a 2004 Z GT, brembos, Stillen S/C with unknown other mods, shitty springs, broken drivers window motor, dirty engine bay, minimally swirled paint job, on standard blacked out rims with stupidly low splitter home. In the the first 48 hours it underwent a clean - 2 purposes: find out what all is on it, what else may be broken, and to remove any paint issues. Cleanse, machine buff, polish layers, wax on then a first pass of the engine bay with steamer, plus some other clean ups reveals the suspected powerflow exhaust is actually a full Stillen, the S/C install is actually stage 3/4 with additional injector, box, nismo bumper/splitter/skirts, alloy full width intercooler, exedy, etc etc Post machine polish: bay before: bay after 1st pass: So this week saw upgraded boot struts fitted, interior cleaned, engine bay first couple passes, leather conditioner applied, fluids change, and this even a full strip and recondition of drivers window regulator motor (all now working perfect!!! soooo pleased) Next and imminent: MeisterR coilovers are apparently in the post HKS intake enroute from Tarmac Gear knob from MopedMark ordered New rims are being decided upon Double din head unit being decided upon
  9. Hello Not sure if you are still building these but i sent a PM regarding getting one
  10. Dibs also on GATES RACING MICRO-V BELT k040220rb £30, Additional invoice needed, PM'd
  11. A directive is not a lawful requirement. No part of road traffic law at the moment requires you to inform DVLA of a temporary wrap colour change. Informing DVLA to amend the colour on their record would only serve to help you if ever PNC checked by the cops (i'm guessing if they ever had need to check your car and it came back a different colour then you'd be subject of a traffic stop anyway, which is just inconvenience). -G- is correct however that you should inform your insurance, as they would be more than happy to invalidate your insurance on the grounds of failing to notify them of a modification.....
  12. Huge thumbs up for this build thread, i'm really enjoying this . Great work coping with single garage too! id never attempt a gearbox out job in my single (also wish it was a double) garage!
  13. Suspension really seems to get people wound up on most car forums for some reason. At the end of the day its all about personal preference and personal circumstance as everyone wants something different from their suspension. Of course throw in at least a bit of knowledge and you can come to the conclusion of which to get. The original intent of my question was to get reports on the actual coilover/fitment/performance/issues etc and thanks very much to Mr TORQEN for the help to get me feedback on those. The only input id give for those who are not sure about suspension (as DarmoZ for example posted) is to make a list of what you want, whether is purley looks you want, or how you want to drive the car etc. My list was: Firm the ride over stock for casual use Get rid of the ridiculously low springs that are in there now Adjustable ride height (for when i switch wheels and so on) Adjustable damping (wanted ability to tweak when needed) This list told me i needed coilovers, and the fact i didnt want to spend any more than needed or for track use told me i didnt need 'true' coilovers or high end stuff. So, choices all sat in the £700 range, or with chinese at £350 (FK Coilovers are actually very good value BTW and ive used them on a CLK previously, but, fixed dampening) i eyed up all the options ticking my list items and coming in at that price range and narrowed my search down to TORQEN S or MeisterR Zeta. Ive plumped for the MeisterR Zeta but mainly because they are in stock right now and the Torqen S is 10-14 days away (which isn't bad really but i cant get in and out of my street at the moment due to offending mountainous speedhump). Seems the main difference between the TORQEN S and the MeisterR Zeta is spring rate - the TORQEN S should feel a little closer to stock ride on softer dampener settings than the MeisterR, in theory at least. I will report back after fitting, and again once they've been in use for a while. Thanks guys!
  14. Thanks to all for the welcome! pics will come soon.... i just took the DA over it today so its getting there :-) I see there is not a 'Members Garage' section on the forum, so i suppose everyone posts their ongoing projects in a thread just?
  15. Dibs on 1x 350z DE HKS Premium Intake System PM on its way
  16. Hey all, i did do a search here but didn't see any real feedback on these. Currently i cannot clear a speedbump in my street plus the ride is pretty bad due to the current setup of standard shocks with unknown mega low springs (yes yes i know, it wasn't me!). I do not want to use the standard shocks with a lowering spring kit, i also don't want a high end cusco type set up, so ive come to conclusion that something like BC Racing, or potentially these Torqen branded things may do the trick for the money. I'm not interested in the really low end chinese coilover kits at £400. The Torqen S runs a higher spring rate than most other kits i notice, so any feedback is much appreciated, such as : Overall finish and build quality Fitment / fitment issues Dampening range 'feel' Longer term use and ride quality Making adjustments after theve been in use for a while (ie issues with dampener adjuster or threads on sleeves etc. thanks!
  17. No pics until i get my machine buffer over it at least , but i think its the only brickyard in the area though not as bright as your purple! but identifiable enough Ill watch out for any local shenanigans.
  18. Aha, great, this is of interest to me for sure, especially once i have meddled the suspension enough to let me out of my street without having to drag it over an offending speed hump
  19. Hey all, i just entered 350Z ownership! Withing 10 minutes of trying one out i was confused as to why i didn't have one of these already, so, i fixed that :-) Just got it home, washed and into my tiny garage for a full clean up and kick off the mods mania. Seems like a pretty great owners club with lots of input and info, so here i am. Ill try avoid silly questions or repeat 'didnt search myself' questions
