  1. Not trying to do anything right now, I just found diagnostic software much more useful than a basic code reader for troubleshooting, and necessary for some jobs. Nissan DataScan 2 for 16 pin with Constult 2 protocol is £30, I should have a spare OBD2 lead kicking about so might be the best option for now.
  2. Thanks Alex, what would you suggest getting?
  3. Thanks, had a quick look online, I presume the £200 ebay ones are copies? (do they work?) Genuine for £1500+! Is Nissan DataScan II a more affordable alternative? http://www.nissandatascan.com/
  4. Probably a silly question; What is the best home use diagnostic software for working on a 350z? For Audi I use VAG-COM, which gives loads more information, measuring blocks, sensor readings, solenoid testing, logging etc compared to a hand held code reader. What is the Nissan equivalent?
  5. Hi I will take it if still available? thanks
  6. Thanks for the quick reply, not quite what I am looking for, thanks though.
  7. How much for the oil cooler setup if its still available? Does it have a thermostat?

    Did Russ take this?
  10. Less error between runs, you do not get wheel slip, you do not get the variations from increasing tyre pressure due to heat, or variations from tension strapping down. Makes it easier to see incremental gains run to run. You will still have to deal with heat soak, temp etc. You can manipulate the crank HP as you are using a correction factor. Dynos are a tuning tool, not a willy measuring stick.
  11. Mark said NA tuning is expensive bang for buck Component selection is critical as everything has to work together, eg fitting a high lift race cam will not give much benefit if there are other greater restrictions, but you will still have other negatives.
  12. Nismo R-Tune, JWT S1 and Tomei 264 cams tested on the same car/dyno, 290whp with bolt ons. (headers, exhaust, intake manifold, TB) http://www.superstre...-vq-street-cam/ 370 NA, Cams, 12:1 pistons, rods, head work, valve springs, ITBs, injectors, headers, exhaust etc http://www.superstre...e-engine-build/ Are you fitting parts yourself or paying as that impacts the budget a bit. I would try and identify the bottlenecks in the stock engine, eg if £1000 of headwork only gets you 5bhp, then the money would be better spent elsewhere on a limited budget. Though you dont want to build the engine twice if you find that it becomes a restriction at higher power.
  13. That is a rather nice collections of mods you have fitted, whats next on the list? Is the harness bar a GCFabrications one? Is there any change you could measure the height of it from the floor or roof or ledge so I can check harness angles. Are you getting seats to go with the harness bar? Did you notice any difference going from the stillen to the 06 airbox? The new brakes really fill the wheels, looks great!
  14. redzed8, was there a noticeable improvement in light output?
  15. I picked up a Haynes for some general reading Nicoclub has workshop manuals http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nissan-350z-factory-service-manuals.html Are there any go to workshop manuals or must haves? The printed ones seem to be £200+
  16. Cheers mate. I am still looking around and learning what all the options are as this is all new to me, so dont want to rush, and then wish I had gone down a different route. Plus projects are never finished, they are just an endless downward spiral of scope creep to bankruptcy
  17. I already have Recaro Speed seats so I will try them first, the low max seats look nice, but mega money! I am 6'1" and can just fit my hand above my head normally, so need to go down a lot, I suspect I may end up not fitting sliders to keep the stack height as low as possible. I picked up an OEM airbox setup cheap from ebay as an intake option It wont sound as good, but would suck less hot air, and filter much better. I do think the current intake could be improved by being brought forward, and boxed in, but the factory already did that rather well. I suspect I might miss the noise though
  18. A thread for my 350z, not going to be the most exciting thread at the moment but we will see what happens. Bought to be a fun and reliable car, also my first RWD car, so a severe lack of traction coming from quattro. 2004 350z GT, grey, 120k, I bought it last month. I picked up a spare set of wheels for track, used MPSS tyres on the track wheels and new MPSS for the road wheels Brake pad time Old pads New pads Oil and filter for trackday Took the car to Knockhill for the first time today, thoroughly enjoyable, totally different to my last car to drive. You can lean on the front much more when turning in without it washing out, but much less traction on corner exit (and much less power). Revealed a distinct lack of experience/talent on my behalf with a brief off road excursion Brakes were fine, but I did not push my luck, only doing 7 laps at a time, that was enough to get the front pads smoking. I cant sit in the car properly with a helmet, i have to slouch right down so my knees are up and arms out, not a great driving position. So seats will come out and I will make or buy subframes to fit Recaro Speeds. Are they any good UK low subframes? I have seen that people have had to cut and weld some of the off the shelf ones to get them low enough. Current planned mod list is Seats! Plenum spacer Decats or HFCs Uprev Considering Port lower plenum (£30 on ebay for a spare to experiment on) Stock airbox with 06 radiused velocity stack (current intake sounds nice though (but probably not the best)) Headers, probably not the best bang for buck but would be nice as a final touch before remapping Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
  19. I am looking for a 350z drivers side seat subframe, aftermarket or OEM if anybody has anything? I am fitting a bottom mount seat so side mounts are no use. thanks Andy

  21. Thanks again folks. Jay Kay, very boring drive, we just sat on the motorway all the way up, if we had more time it would have been good to detour over some nice roads but we just wanted to get home. What are you coming up to get? Torqen, pop charger already fitted, what plenum spacers do you sell? I need to lift the car to see whats currently fitted then decide on HFCs or de cats, quite fancy a set of headers as well.
  22. Took the 350z for a run over the weekend and am now a bit more used to driving it. Took a while to stop putting it in 5th rather than 3rd when going to overtake from 6th Went from Stirling to Fort William, Applecross, Torridan, Inverness, Loch Ness then back to Stirling, plus some other driving about in between. A couple of pictures of the car at the top of the Applecross road; Really enjoying the car as I get used to it, very tractable, nicely composed and reasonably quick, can overtake ok. I need to take out the fuel senders and clean the contacts, also need new brake papds before track time.
  23. My last car, bought as a Cat C when I was 19, a 1992 Audi S2, loads of mods including Porsche brakes, 27psi boost and 360-380bhp ish
  24. It would be nice to drive the gearbox before you buy it though, you could be lucky, or could buy a dog.
