Last fill mine had done 22.88 mpg by the pump. The computer showed exactly 23 mpg. That's the most accurate I've had in any car. In my last 3 cars, BMW 3 series over read by about 1.5 mpg, my first Octavia vRS by 1 mpg, and my second one by 0.5 mpg.

Probably yeah. It's certainly more than likely than any problem is actually with the gauge or sender rather than the engine. Just for info for the thread, I'm using 5W30

That's a lot different to mine. From a cold start it's up around 120, and once fully warm it's 60 at 2000 rpm. Mine's done 43k. Something doesn't seem right there then does it. With which one? Pressures from the workshop manual: Idle - More than 14 psi 2000 rpm - More than 43 psi So 20-30 normal driving doesn't sound right.

Thanks for that. I don't want to go looking for faults that aren't there. Don't won't to park the other way around either, reversing off in to the street is that bit more awkward I should probably investigate how the water gets there in the first place and see if that seems right.

I was wondering if it's because my drive slopes a bit. The car is always parked nose up. I should probably try parking it the other way around and see if the same happens. Maybe it's just got really good door seals

Do they all do this? No water ever gets in to the car, it just sits on the sill until the door is opened.

The other thing you could do is buy a can of one of the so called 'proper' MAF cleaners like CRC Mass Air Cleaner. To be fair, they do contain different ingredients than carb or electrical cleaner. However I do think that stories of damaging the sensor is more likely down to people not treating them with proper care though.

They will look OK but will be dirty if they've never been cleaned. Mine looked like new but cleaning has worked. Just spraying them with the correct cleaner isn't going to hurt them. Just don't go rubbing them with anything. If it really worries you, buy new ones.

Ignition off, Philips screwdriver, take out the two screws, pull out the MAF, don't disconnect it, spray the sensing wires through the holes with carb cleaner or electrical cleaner, put it back Don't rub it with anything, just let the spray to do the work. And it won't necessarily look dirty, but it will be

The spring and cap, and the little spring that keeps the cap in place. Refitted the bottom part that the main spring fits over just to stabilise things a bit, but the noise is there with or without that.

Just to update, removed the assist spring which makes no difference to how heavy the pedal feels. Makes me wonder why they even bother fitting it. Anyway, a slight click remains. Removing the spring has made it barely noticeable but it seems to be the same click just not as bad. Can't work out why the spring makes it worse though considering where and how it fits. Can't work out where the click is actually coming from either, but at least now it not bad enough to bother about.

Just for anyone following or searching, cleaning the MAF sensors sorted this.

Big thanks to Bob (buster) for speedy delivery of my reflectors. They look loads better. Such a simple change which I think really lifts the front of the car.

Well Direct Line wanted an extra 260 odd quid (that's two hundred and sixty something) from me if I fitted an after market exhaust, so 30 quid sounds cheap to me!

I believe so yes, but I couldn't possibly claim to know that there is no god, and I wouldn't agree with anyone who does. The fact is that it could never be proven. However, I don't believe for one second that there is. No creator, and most certainty no god of any religion or holy book. Of course if anyone can prove there is a god then I'd gladly change my mind.

This makes no sense. How can you be a Christian, believing that the bible is the word of god, and then say that all the other gods exist too. Do you therefore accept that all 2800 or so deities exist? And I'm sorry but the true word of god should be open to interpretation. It's commendable that your faith has lead you to do good things and that you get so much out of it, as many people do I'm sure, but the faith and belief system itself make no sense at all* *To me

So since you have no evidence that your chosen god exists, firstly, what was it that convinced you that any god exists? Then, what made you choose yours? What made you choose Christianity over say, Islam or Hinduism? Why do you reject those faiths and gods over your own? I realise that there is an overlap here and that different religions are often just different versions or explanations for the same god, but surely only one version can be the right one or none at all.
