Sometimes misfires don’t cause an eml trust me aha yeah whip the plugs out and have a look, my De had an oil leak from the cam cover on the passenger side at the front causing oil to sit in the tube with the plug either way can’t be good for it, at the same time dual mass flywheels cause a hell of a lot of vibration when they’re on their way out, does the vibration keep going a short while after ignition is off?

Standard clutch and flywheel replaced around 5k miles ago. Vibration higher when I touch the throttle to rev up the engine. Started the zed again, heavy smells of petrol from the exhaust. I will upload video in next 2-3mins.

Can always do a video upload to YouTube then post here, is it constantly vibrating? Have you got a De engine? Has the cam cover leaked oil into the cylinder tube? Can you remember what plugs you put in them? iridium/ platinum have a life of 30-40k usually so might not be that, check the intake pipe behind the maf  for any leaks. If you are certain it’s a coil/plug whilst the engines running pull off the plugs one by one and see if the engine tone changes if it stalls or gets worse obviously that cylinder is fine, if nothing changes then you’re right probably pack or plug. Hope this helps

Thanks mate. It's a DE. Plugs were swapped before I purchased it. Only says spark plugs on the service invoice hence no idea but will remove them to see what they are this weekends. Spoken to a local mechanic on phone when I book my mrs's car in for annual service, he don't think it will be coil packs since I'm not getting any warning light. Will try/rest what you mentioned above over the weekend to diagnose.

  3. Since lockdown begins earlier this year, I've been working from home and only use my zed once/twice every 2 weeks. The last time I drove it was a week ago and everything is normal. Started it up this morning, all seems normal. Let it warm up while I wait for my daughter to get ready, got out the car and notice weird exhaust sound/note when it is warming up, seems to be a tiny bit louder and popping constantly (not the best technical term and a bit difficult to explain) Normal will be like mmmmmmmmmm (constantly but no audible pops, now is more like constantly bop bop bop bop bop. When I got back into the car, the steering wheel has high vibration and I can feel it from the footwell as well. No warning lights at all. Drove it off my drive and car doesn't seems to drive well.

Because of the vibrations I'm getting, I suspect one or more cylinder is not firing hence causing the imbalance. Faulty coil pack(s)? But I'm not getting any error code. Can I just swap one or recommended to swap all? Seems easy enough to get them out but is this a sign others might go too?

Thinking about it more, maybe spark plugs? Last time it was changed at 63309 miles, currently at 89940 - Done around 26k miles

Any idea what to check will be much appreciated before I start to take things apart and order replacement parts.

  4. Just been to groceries shopping, got in the zed and start up as per normal. As I drive, I noticed the oil pressure at 120 psi. I'm not sure if it was there when I first started my zed before going to the shops as I only looked at the RPM to drop to normal idle speed before setting off. It shots up pass 120 psi when I'm in gear and accelerate, dropped to 120 psi when idling. Got home, turn engine off and restart again, shoots up to 120psi again. No warning lights or any other signs, drives normal. Didn't notice the oil pressure since I last drove it 2 weeks ago. Oil + filter last changed in Dec 2019, driven less than 2000 miles since. I'm planning an oil change and filter change to see if this will resolve this. Anything else I should look at? Oil pressure sensor maybe?

  5. That's a big sheep you got there..... Needs a trim now since we have some good sunny weather B)

Great work as usual. Best ever post in this forum by far. Always looking forward to your next update. Good level of technical content along with lots of banter, loving it!

  6. I had similar issue 2 yrs back, rubbing only in one side. I think I have 2 P-clips. It was OK for around 1 year plus before it started rubbing. I got a replacement set when I complained. Guess what, the new set is shorter compared to the 1st set, can't remember exactly by how much, probably around 10-15cm. No issue since fitted new ones + 1 P-clip. If didn't take responsibility and not send another set, I would have moved to Goodridge.

  7. You can only program lock/unlock yourself without any equipment. For starting up car, you'll need to clone the immobiliser hence an auto locksmiths. I heard Nissan charges around £300 for a new key all programmed in. Cheaper option is to buy a 2nd hand key (£20-£30), replace the key blade (£5 for a blank, £15 to cut), get an auto locksmiths to copy/clone the immobiliser (around £100).

Yep, still having issues unfortunately :(. I gave up investigating for a while.. but I still want it fixed!

On the plus side... I passed my MOT first time with no advisories :)

Ill check them Auto electricians out :) Cheers buddy.

I know that feeling!! I'll probably do the same to have my remote lock/unlock working.

Mine failed MOT yesterday, but they have accepted that what they think was structural, was actually not true. They updated the system and gave a pass. Unfortunately the 'Fail' is now recorded. So my zed now has a fresh 12months MOT.

Good luck in getting it sorted.

All parts are in stock and good to go same/next day.

If the kidney brackets are corroded then they will have to be replaced, however from your image it appears to be the panel that runs behind the petrol tank that is corroded and if that is the case, just remove it as it serves very little purpose.

IMHO, this panel should not be an MOT failure as it is not structural

However I have the panels in stock if you wish to replace.

Kidney brackets are also in stock.

    Alex :)

Many thanks Alex. I'll see if I can talk him to accept this is not structural and can be removed without replacing.

  10. Having done some google search, looks like that's a kidney braces? and the part i need to replace is the one above is board assembly - rear floor? Would be great if you guys can confirm how easy it is to replace these 2 items? I have access to tools and ramp to replace the if they are easy enough? Probably the toughest will be the rusty bolts and nuts.

  11. Just failed MOT this morning, this parts needs fixing or replacing. Anyone had similar problems and how do you sort it out? Was it a big job (sub-frame out, exhaust out, etc) or something as simple as replace the part (without removing other parts) ? Passenger side has corroded, driver side still OK but if they can be replaced, I think both needs replacing at the same time. @ZMANALEXdo you have parts if it can be replaced?
