  1. Finally found some time to sort out the wiper arms, thanks to the Queen.

Arms removal was pretty easy and straight forward, took me 5mins or less to remove both.

Took them water nozzles out, masking tape on the main hole and spring. Sand it down and peel off as much original paint as I can. Wash with soapy water, and dry before 3 coats of primer and 4 coats of satin black paint. Let it completely dry for 24hrs before going back on the zed. Added grease to the shaft as well whilst they are out to make it easier to remove in future. Turn out pretty good.

  2. Mod that everyone is banging on about, finally I have some time to sort this after 8yrs of ownership. The wiper delete. Takes literally 5mins and it's done, why didn't I do this sooner 🤔

  3. The only thing I can think of is the key you have is not a like for like. I can't remember exactly, but i think i got one for Micra (being advertised on Ebay as compatible for 350z) and it didn't work and I have to send it back for refund. I think the part number isn't same but again, it was many moons ago hence I can't remember details. Since you mentioned you get stuck at registration mode, I suspect your new PCB isn't emitting the same frequency that your car is expecting.

I ended up buying one from @ZMANALEX or Paul on this forum (I cant remember who but both break 350z) and it works fine.

  4. Try this procedure (i've not compare the procedure you posted vs the one i use in the topic attached). However, when I did mine many moons ago. I remembered that the warning lights (hazard) didn't flash but I can hear 'Clicking' sound, hence try to do it in a quiet surrounding.

When you swap your blade over to new key fob, you'll need to transfer the immobiliser transponder over too if you haven't already done it. Its like a little square/rectangle box that looks like a carbon block. Else I think you car will not start or driven.

  5. Standard cats should make it much better IMO. However if your zed has been remapped with sports cats, that might affect your performance. I know someone run pretty similar setup as your except sports cats. I think he has a non-res Cobra. Sounds pretty good and not too loud. Get a pair of used standard cats from @ZMANALEX

  6. Really unlucky for you however used zeds are going for good money now compared to 2 years ago. I saw range of £6k to £7k for above 80k miles on the clock (DE), HR goes for more money. All the best to you and get max payout soon

  7. Sorry to hear this mate!

Sounds like one or few 'a'ssh0L3 decided to play with a 350z just because they can (https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/19343805.gang-live-stream-stealing-car-social-media/) or has been used a a get away vehicle. I'm guessing they put rear wheels on a dolly and pulled it up a flat bed. Ask for CCTV footage in Tesco, they might captured your zed doing donuts in there before it got dumped there when petrol runs out.

My colleague's zed was stolen few years ago from a house burglary when he's at work. Police found the car few days later dumped on a street, zed was reported as get away car for a robbery. Zed was scratched and damaged.

Fingers crossed that you'll sort out an agreement with insurance.

  8. After 4 yrs or so sat in the garage cupboard, I've finally printed out the installation instructions. Took 20mins or so to install, but 30mins to figure out what's going. Everything works great when I first tested it, both connectors plugged in without door card assembled. Removed both connectors to put the door card back on, assemble everything back on.....you guessed it 🤦🏻‍♂️ everything stopped working. Could not figure out what's going on. Thought the fuse has blown, checked and it wasn't. Removed the fuse and replace again, the module works again. Hence decided to hook the door card back on loosely, plug in both connectors, remove and replace the fuse.....test and it works again. Moved the door card to assemble everything again....🤦🏻‍♂️ Doesn't work again. Removed everything to check all connections, found one of power cable came of the Scotchlok 🤦🏻‍♂️ repaired it, repeat the same assembly method again but being extra careful not to pull any cables put. Success!

Loved the auto fold when I lock the car, but the only down side is I have to wait for the mirrors to fully open first when I turn key to 'On' position before cranking up the engine, else the mirror will stop unfolding and will have to manually press the window button to unfold it completely.

I went cable tie happy ensuring everything is tidy.

  9. Emissions should be OK. From what I read, one of the reason they don't bring this into EU is this below

"In 2021, the EU will give a fine to any manufacturer who sell a car with more CO2 than 95 grams/km will get a 95 euro fine times the amount of units sold by the manufacturer that year"

Not sure about taking this into UK privately, assuming you'll just pay road tax to the latest tax band.

I bet alot of neighbours secretly looked on with admiration at your skills with a spanner.

You'll probably be the go to neighbour for advice if any of their cars won't start.

One neighbour walked pass and made a comment 'You are always tinkering with your cars'. Lots of activities for the past month. Rocker cover on my zed, then brake pads on my missus's car, and my car again today. 🤣🤣

  11. One issue after the other. Drove to McD 2 weeks ago on a nice hot summer afternoon for drive thru 🤦🏻‍♂️ noticed the air con isn't cold anymore and engine temp starts to climb. Lucky the queue wasn't bad, managed to pick up my order and start driving again. Temp drops back down immediately. Thought I might have some air pockets in the cooling system as I've removed the cooling pipe from the plenum to swap out the rocker cover. Got home and popped the bonnet to have a look at coolant level in the expansion tank, seems to have dropped from Max and about 0.5cm from Min. I also suspected the cooling fans aren't working.

Did a search on the forum, found a cheat code to check them fans. The auto test which I only found out 2 weeks ago. Test confirmed that both my cooling fans are not working.

Whilst looking down into the fan, I also noticed the AC fan belt needs replacing. Thought I'll sort out both at the same time.

Another quick forum search shows that I could refurb both motors myself.

Drive up some wooden planks to get some clearance to jack the zed up and found that I can get away with only having an one jack to get under the zed. Removed some of the bolts that's holding the bottom tray, and again I can get away without removing the whole tray.

Removed the cooling fan assembly, plenty of video on YouTube to guide and I can confirm that it isn't possible to not remove the coolant hose from the radiator. I used some cling film (triple layer) + a rubber band to stopped the coolant from pouring out. I think all in I probably loose about 200ml or less.

Took both motors out, marking them with marker pen to avoid mixing them up. I think the motor is the same, but them fan blades aren't. I found this out as I've mixed them. As anything rotating, I always give it a spin with hand to confirm clearance. If you have it other way round, one will rub, one will be ok.

Whilst the assembly is out, plenty of space for me to swap out both belts. Pretty easy to swap out, loosen the tensioner pulley and slacken the tensioner bolt. Same on both belts. Off the old, in goes the new in 15 to mins or so.

Upon opening up the motor, I found all them 'carbon tabs' (not sure what's the actual name' are sticked within the slider. I'm not a motor expert but just some knowledge of how motor works. The spring should be pushing the 'tabs' onto the rotor. I have to push them out with a little screwdriver. I noticed the carbon tabs have split in the middle hence I guess why it is not clearing the housing and allowing the spring to push them.

Lucky them tabs are pretty easy to sand, just a quick two to three passes with the sand paper gives it enough clearance. Did the same on all 4 tabs, some contact cleaner to clean it up. Next I clean the rotor, full of carbon deposit on it, just some sand paper and again contact cleaner at the end.

A bit of hammer action to seal the motor assembly back. Reassembled them on the the cage and back into the zed for a test. Again, I'm using the auto test to check them fans........😎 Success, both fans working great, both Hi and Lo fans are working.

Assembled everything back, added some engine coolant (recommend to buy direct from Nissan stealership, but they are pretty cheap £7.15 per ltr).

Did the coolant bleeding procedure, took me around 25mins.

All sorted in about 3hrs including bleeding.

Hopefully that's the end of the issues for now.
