  1. Hi,

I want to stiffen up the front end of the 370 a bit, I will not be tracking the car but do like to push it a bit when conditions allow.

I don't really want to go to the expense of coilovers at the moment so I was thinking of a stiffer sway bar and drop links as a starting point then perhaps coilovers towards the end of the year.

Without spending many hundreds of pounds can anyone suggest a suitable brand or are they all pretty much the same and you just pay for the name?

Also should I do front and rear at the same time?

Finally, is this a job for a relative novice with limited tools and no garage, I. E. Trolley jack, axle stands and socket set on my driveway.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  2. Pete,

It could also be incriminating in the event of an accident as well !!

I have just bought one for the 370 but will only provide recordings as and when necessary in the event of an incident to support any claim. I suspect an insurer would request recordings for any and all claims and the police may want to view footage if they pull you over or attend an incident.

  3. This reminds me, my wife had one of many phone calls from "BT" the other day trying to remote access our computer to resolve a problem, the last one insisted if she didn't allow access they were going to cut us off! This should be interesting as we have a sky broadband and calls account bundled with our TV package and have done so for several years !

Good luck fighting this Dan, but as previously mentioned watch your credit score, this could go down as a default even before you get it resolved.

  4. I liked the earlier suggestion of wacky races but then I'm that little bit older and remember watching it!

Dastardly and Mutley, penelope pitstop, anthill mob, the slag brothers and their boulder mobile etc.

Look it up plenty of images on line!

  5. I had coilovers and spacers on my 350 and set the coilovers to a fairly stiff setting it also lowered the car 15mm ish and I really don't think I can justify them at the moment so probably fit sway bars as a first step.

Continue to enjoy the sunshine and don't worry about all us mere workers and the rain & wind

  6. Rob, great to see old and new side by side. Never really saw the sense of a rag top in the UK but clearly a good choice with your weather !

I have to agree, after just a short time of 370 ownership I wouldn't go back to the 350 as much as I loved it. For me though I want to lose some of the body roll before I worry about the exhaust noise.

  7. I had the A A out yesterday as I couldn't be bothered to wait for an obd reader to arrive (on order)

The throttle body was/is carboned up, he reset and said to take it for a blast to get everything hot (good excuse for a drive out)

Regarding oil pressure/ temp gauges, it doesn't actually matter what you have if you don't know what they mean or are telling you - my daughter continued to drive her Fiesta with the oil can light on figuring it was still okay to drive until she blew the head gasket !

My temp gauge looks like a separate issue, pressure is okay and as A A man said the red light would come on if there were a real problem !

  8. AA been out today, said throttle body out of range, he reset and light is now off so good news, he said they get carboned up if only used for short journeys, which mine has been over the last few weeks so I need to take it out for a blast - good excuse if ever there was one needed.

Oil gauge still doesn't move though, AA man says there is no problem with oil pressure and red light would have come on if there were so looks like the actual gauge is at fault.

He also said obd reader wouldn't pick up the throttle issue!

  9. Coyote, that link states that version is not suitable for Nissan vehicles !!!

Jetpilot, I guess at the price they are I have nothing to lose, I am going to call AA out tomorrow to find out what my current problem is but want the code reader so I can find out for myself.

  10. Thanks Nic but until I know what's wrong I don't fancy driving it just in case, the are plenty of code readers on ebay, just looked at one that links to a smart phone so I think I will order one, get the codes then take it from there.

Unless anyone else has any thoughts?

  11. Engine oil is fine, level near full mark, no signs of contamination round filler cap or dipstick.

How do I get codes on a 370? Hear lots about peddle dance on 350 is it similar and if so is there a guide?

I can't find anything under 370z fault codes or peddle dance.

  12. Engine management light is on permanently and oil gauge stays at 6 o'clock, engine runs okay and idles fine, drove the car round the block but I'm afraid to take it any further in case there is an actual oil pressure issue.

Has anyone else experienced this or any ideas what might be causing it, I'm assuming the two are linked but have no idea where to start looking, also skills are limited.

  13. What's wrong with Satsumas !

I just can't believe they are taking so long to air, there will be many differing opinions but we need to give the new team a chance.

Dan, I'm in the dislike Evans camp, he annoys the heck out of me, but Top Gear will, hopefully, be more than just him and I do respect his petrolhead status.
