  1. Update! The car went back to the garage today, it still hadn't missed a beat since the first incident. The sales guy was really canny actually, I drove it straight into their garage and the mechanic put the code reader on it straight away. Takes one look and says "yup, its just a sensor" Had a quick fiddle about then reset the ECU. He said it's pretty common with these cars, he told me to see how it goes within the next couple of days.... After a slow half hour drive about everything seemed ok so I went for my first slightly spirited drive around some local country roads. It didn't miss a beat. Tho I am super paranoid that it's going to do it again while driving at pace and try to kill me. I'm also super paranoid about every little noise I hear too, it's like I'm just waiting for something else to break. Hopefully that paranoia will fade in time. On another note, this thing is so nice too drive, it's my first rear wheel drive car and it's so much more fun in the twistys than a hot hatch in my opinion. Hopefully nothing else will arise in the next month and I will take it for a full check over with the guys at falcon when I get paid. I'm off to clean it again now (obsessed)
  2. The pedal dance can do both. The first half of the procedure will bring up the code.
  3. Orange is a massive gamble like, could either look really good, or realy really bad! haha.
  4. haha yea it does. It looks really clean, I like it. I actually much prefer the look of these wheels over the GT ones. Just a shame their doesn't seem to be many pictures of different colour combinations of them kicking about. I will probably play it safe and either go gunmetal or black.
  5. I remember reading your post before I bought my Z. Looks nice, pretty ballsy tho, not sure I'd have the bottle. Has your Z been lowered? Are the windows tinted too?
  6. Good point, all of the above colour combos work well! I really like the look of the black ones with the tinted windows mind.... Think thats just helped me make my decision.
  7. I'm planning on getting my standard wheels refurbed next month. At first I was thinking keep it OEM and just get them done in the standard colour but now I'm not so sure. I quite like the idea of getting em done in white..... I know its a bit of a risk as it might end up looking crap! Anyone got any pics or a silverstone with white wheels? I cant find anything with the search function. I've seen a few s2000's with white wheels and they look pretty hot. Edit.... Sorry this was meant for the alloys sub forum.
  8. Any idea what that actually means then? Searched that code on another forum and some people just re-set ecu and it doesn't seem to happen again.........
  9. First off, yes I bought the car from the garage with a dodgy rep, they stuck to their word and tidied up the paint and even replaced the side skirt for me before the test drive so I was happy to do business with them. Secondly I have recorded the error code on my phone but I can't upload the bloody thing. I have read it should flash ten times before the code starts but mine jumps straight into the code once I've done the dance. Its coming up as 1 1 1 111 11111. Three slow flashes then the rest is fast. I make that P1135 Intake Valve Timing Control, RH Bank 2 Correct? Hope not, doesn't sound too promising.haha.
  10. Almost forgot, I will try and record the pedal dance lights tonight after work.
  11. Just a quick post as I'm at work guys... Turns out Im working all next weekend, the only day I have to get it looked at this week is thursday, I'm unsure if I should take it to the dealership first or just suck it up and pay for the guys at falcon performance to look at it? At least I trust these guys and can leave with peace of mind after they have looked at it. Obviously if they point out anything of major concern I will take it right back to the dealership. I have drove it in to work today again with no problems what so ever apart from the light being on.
  12. I tried the pedal dance and the light just went mental, had no clue when it started, stopped or anything. It's pretty hard to read. The garage was whitley bay motors off the silverlink on the A19. I don't wanna give them a bad rep until I go down their and see what they say first. They might be super helpful and sort it straight out for me. Tho I am a little doubtful of that. Oh and I've just noticed the MPG on the dash says 7mpg
  13. It's not flashing, In that case I'll wait until I get a day off to take it in. Should only be a few days anyway. Beginning to think I've over exaggerated this whole thing and that everything is going to be fine!
  14. Do you guys think it will be ok to use for a couple of days until I get a day off to take it to the garage? I will just use it for work and back, about 10 mile a day. When I get paid I might buy a crap run about car with plenty of tax and mot and keep the Z for weekend use to avoid complications. On a brighter note, heres a recent picture after a quick clean.
  15. Thats exactly what Im planning on doing mate. It's going to have to be next weekend now tho. I am going to let the guys I bought it from have a look first then take it to Falcon afterwards. I've just drove it today and everything is working perfectly, apart from the engine light being on. Just a bit of a ball ache because I left myself a bit short of cash this month, I didn't expect to have to go down this route so early.
  16. I have 0 no claims bonus and 3 points and just paid 550 quid for my insurance. I work in insurance so I guess that makes me a lower risk
  17. Wheres the rest of the thread lol?? Also have you had any problems with it? Or has it been smooth sailing?
  18. Yea, I think I overreacted a little bit yesterday. I did expect the garage to at least check the car over before selling it tho. I'm based near newcastle upon tyne, if anyone is local and wants to check it out I'd be super grateful. I have since found reviews for the garage and all of them are terrible, seen a few comments about them doing dodgy MOT's and quick fix ups to shift cars. It's not like I bought it from a small dealership either, the place is a massive trade site. Oh well, thats another life lesson learnt. I will give them a chance to get it sorted tho, I'm hopeful that its nothing serious. The car is sat there on my drive dying to be driven!!
  19. Thats shocking man! Do they honestly think that we are not going to come straight back to the garage as soon the light comes back on anyway? Unreal. I'm desperate to get my car in with a specialist to check it out, there's nowhere open tommorow tho and I'm back at work monday. A few people have told me to get my money back but I think thats a bit extreme.... It's got full service history and 2 owners, the last one was a Lady... It's only done 57k surely it should be ok?
  20. Yea dude, hopefully it's just something daft, like I said the car feels fine to drive now but the engine light is still on. It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence when collecting a car and not even managing to get it home before problems start tho! On another note its amazing how many dodgy looks I get off people when driving this, oh and every single guy in a hot hatch seems to feel the need to want to race me which I find pretty annoying too. Didn't expect this car to get as much attention as it does. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing just yet haha.
  21. Quick update guys, I tried to take it to my local garage first for them to check out but they close early on saturdays. I took it back to the dealership and the guy was a bit of a ****. Seemed pretty uninterested and said something like "wow I can't believe that's happened, I even drove that car myself before putting it on the forecourt" I get the impression they took the car in part exchange, took it for a quick spin then put it straight back on the forecourt without checking a damn thing. Anyway, he said bring the car back along first thing monday morning and they will check it out for me. I had to drive the car for work today and have done about 40 miles with the engine management light on, it hasn't missed a beat since the incident this morning. I'm hopeful that this is a simple fix but I've gotta be honest it's got me having second thoughts about this car, I've got a horrid feeling it's going to turn into a money pit and i'm going to end up regretting buying it. It's put a pretty big downer on a day that should have been awesome. I plan on letting these guys sort it out then I'll take it to a specialist garage local to me and get the guys to give it a proper once over. If they find anything serious I will be requesting my money back. I could really do without all this hassle at the minute...... On a brighter note.... at least she looks nice anyway
  22. Ok after a quick read through some other threads it sounds like its the crank shaft sensor. I have the EXACT same symptoms as the guys in those threads. Im gonna limp back to the garage in it now. I can't help but think they knew about this and re-set the ecu before I test drove it. Must remain calm!
  23. I took it straight to my local garage but they were shut! Im so gutted, I've saved for ages for this car and I've just paid out 600 quid for insurance, I've left myself with very little to live on this month and then this happens. I Need a car for work too. Complete nightmare situation. I'm going to call the garage now.
  24. Picked up my 04 350z today and the thing litteraly broke down on the drive home from the garage. Car pulls fine, at first everything felt as it should, tho it is quite mechanical, it has a lot of feel through the pedals and has a slight vibration through the gear stick but I presume this is normal? So there I was, driving my car home, really happy with my purchase then bam... the car cut out whilst sat in traffic, all the lights flashes on the dash so I turned off the ignition and started her up again, the engine management light is now on and I drove home slowly in it. It only has a months warranty on it, I'm going to ring the garage but I wanted to see if you guys had any idea what it might be first?? Is this the start of a nightmare of a car, or a simple fix? I'm considering asking for my money back.
