  1. Source I don't think this was a surprise. And I wasn't really a fan of it anyway...
  2. It's been a long time away (over a month) but today I finally got my car back, and so far it is crunch free. I opted to have all the syncros replaced, as per my previous post. Unfortunately the work was held up because (and this might be useful to some) Nissan have changed 5th and 6th gear since my car came out of the factory and the syncros did not fit the gearbox. 5th and 6th gear also had to be replaced. They kept quiet about it when the parts were ordered and it was (apparently) not indicated on the information about the syncros. If this is true (and I have no reason to believe it isn't), it feels like Nissan are partly responsible for all this, because it sounds like they know there is a problem. Does anyone have any advice, or think it's worth contacting Nissan to argue about? That said, it is OK now, and Japex looked after me and my car and the most important thing to me is having it back. I guess in hindsight if I'd just had 3 out of 6 syncros replaced I perhaps would've only needed one gear replaced? But perhaps not, I'm not an expert. Oh well, it's only money.
  3. My car has been with Japex for a week now after an initial gearbox oil change didn't help. Having sent the gearbox to their local specialist, the conclusion is 2nd, 4th and 6th synchromeshes are all worn. Because of the time and labour to have the gearbox out, and because I've said I'm more concerned about doing things properly than cutting corners, they are advising to replace all 6 synchromeshes at an approximate cost of £1500 including labour. Feels about right and I've said to go ahead (pending parts delivery). The car has only 28000 miles on the clock (2010 reg) so it's a bit puzzling, and obviously my primary concern is I spend this money and time getting it fixed and it just happens again one day. Thoughts and advice appreciated.
  4. Thanks Will, I'll give them a ring
  5. I've managed to consistently replicate some crunching between 4th and 6th gear when accelerating; doesn't happen between 5th and 6th. Looking around on the forum this seems to be a common problem. The only thing is my car is now out of warranty; is this going to be expensive to fix (I expect the answer might be yes...)? And does anyone have advice or recommendations as to whether I should go to my local Nissan garage (Glyn Hopkin, Milton Keynes) or someone independent? If so; recommendations are much appreciated, I don't know anywhere. Car has only been serviced at main dealerships. Any advice appreciated
  6. Alright fair enough I guess I expected it to maintain a heat level rather than cut out completely & go cold again - a rather crude thermostat!
  7. With the heated seats on high, they will eventually cut out and go cold. Eventually, they will cut back in again. This doesn't happen on the lower setting, where they can stay on all the time. I'm guessing there's some over-heating protection cutting them out, but surely they shouldn't get to that stage? I'm not sure they've always done this, but then they're not often on the high setting. Anyone else experienced this?
  8. My Quartz 370z has its fair share of stone chips on the front bumper, and also some of the bonnet (one in particular is quite nasty and looks like it's down to the metal, but I'm unsure). I'm not that comfortable about doing these things myself, so I'm looking for some advice: Is it worth doing anything about them? Is it a waste of money because more will come back? Am I at risk of rust or other problems? Is the 'quartz' colour unusual enough to cause problems matching it? How much might it cost to get a reasonable job done of repairing all chips? An order of magnitude thumb suck is fine because I have no idea at all! Can anyone recommend somewhere near Milton Keynes that would be able to assess what would need to be done (and potentially do the work)? Ability to do a good job is more important than being cheap. I appreciate these questions are a bit broad...
  9. White 350z in Banbury today. Gave you a wave. Swear I recognise the number plate, but couldn't find a mention of it here...
  10. Posted a few photos recently, I try and remember to add the #350zuk hashtag! I'm @jalada on Instagram, too.
  11. Thanks guys, I went for the 370z one. Full post here.
  12. I decided I'd had enough of wincing whenever I went round a corner with a bag or two of shopping in the back, and investigated into getting a cargo net. I'd seen some anecdotal evidence that the 350z one would do fine, or even a Mini Cooper one. However I figured despite the extra cost it'd be easiest to just go for the official one. A few emails back and forth with Ewen from Clark Motorsport and the official cargo net was mine! White cat hairs courtesy of the previous owner, that even after a year I have struggled to completely remove! I paid £79.50, which feels pretty expensive for a piece of netting! But all the fixtures are sturdy and you can have it in the two different arrangements, as seen above. It looks like the 350z one (pictured in this post) is definitely different. When spread across the whole boot it sits quite high up, so isn't enough to hold down the small bag from Maplin seen in the photos, but would probably be better suited for a bunch of bags of shopping for example. There's a lot of elastic in the netting, so it can stretch, a lot. When spread across the whole boot, there's 2 straps that loop around the silver bar (you can see one the closeup shot folded back on itself and held in place with a velcro strap, a nice touch) and then attach to one of the clasps. It's a bit of a pain to get these round the bar; I had to retract the shelf & sit in the boot. But then I'm quite short, and it'd probably be easier with someone else helping. So yeah...that's quite a long post for something so simple, but when I was doing a bit of research myself before buying I didn't find a lot of info, so figured I'd fill the gap
  13. From Milton Keynes I See... Not a million miles away from me. (well 3 to be precise) I once had another (I think) 40th aniversary in front of me in MK, soon after I got the car. It was fairly modified, in particular I remember the Nissan badge was black. Was that you? I flashed my hazards & waved. Edit: Found some photos you posted back in January, maybe not.
  14. Kept forgetting to post here. I'm number 120, bought June last year.
  15. I could do with mine being done on my 370Z too. I asked Nissan for new ones and the quoted price was ridiculous! They're just springs!
  16. I'm about to order a cargo net for my 370Z. The proper 370Z one from Clark Motorsport is £80, whereas the 350Z one is £35. Can someone confirm that there's no reason to buy the 370Z one? Any negatives to buying the 350Z one and fitting it to a 370Z? £45 is a lot extra (I could buy 2!), but I'll pay it if there's a good reason...
  17. My dash clock also goes out of sync with the sat nav. Pete is right; sat nav gets updates from satellites.
  18. That's weird, it works OK for me. I'll change it to a piece of text instead of just a pasted URL. Thought it might be of interest to people here maybe belongs in Off Topic?
  19. New box available for order, think I might give it a go. Long time to wait though!
  20. Source: http://www.autoexpre...nce-partnership (mod feel free to move if this should be somewhere else...'Nissan Announcements' seemed a very quiet place)
  21. I think they should've mentioned something about adding Connect Premium to the 370Zs from 2010 onwards...otherwise interesting.
  22. What about a dog? Could you fit one of those cat-scarer things at bonnet level on a wall or something? I have no experience with how good they are. Or perhaps rig up some kind of motion sensor to a horn...
