  1. Jeff, Yes. The fix simply fools the air bag control unit into thinking all the air bags are present, and the dash light operates normally.
  2. The small arm attached to the B-pillar that moves the belt forward several inches. 2003 and early 2004 Zs didn't have these. The Sparco bars were designed based on these early models, and won't fit on later cars.
  3. Check with the manufacturer before purchasing. Some harness bars (Sparco for one) are not compatible with the seat belt shoulder extension seen on later model Zs. I speak from experience.
  4. I don't know what is standard and what in optional in the UK, but here in the US the side airbags were optional. Perhaps your standard seats didn't have them fitted.
  5. Unless there is a corresponding increase in engine efficiency, more power will always equal more waste heat (basic thermodynamics). Just as a matter of background, oil temperature sensors were not installed on early VQ37DE motors, but were installed on the Rev-up and VQ35HR versions. There is a fault code for engine overtemperature - P1217. This code has a one-trip detection logic for turning on the CEL, but as pointed out, does not result in the engine running in limp home mode. The service manual lists several possible caused, but concentrates on the cooling fans as the most likely cause.
  6. Here in the States, when the 370 first came out, several folks had oil temperature problems during track days, resulting in the engine going into limp mode. The 370 makes more power, therefore more heat, than the 350, and doesn't even have the oil-to-water cooler that the early 350s have. Nissan may have felt that oil temperature had become a serious enough issue to warrant a separate gauge, since oil pressure at leas has an idiot light.
  7. The pedal dance doesn't reset the airbag light; it resets the CEL. Before you reset the light, it might be a good idea to find out why it's flashing in the first place.
  8. The file names are very short versions of the chapter titles. The file fwd.pdf (Foreward) will give you the complete list.
  9. Here's a page from the Service Manual that describes the flashing sequence for DTCs: ECU Codes.pdf
  10. The "pedal dance" will not only reset the CEL, it will allow you to read the codes. Simply pause after step 4 in the procedure in the link above (when the CEL starts blinking). The blinking pattern shows the codes that are set. To clear them, continue with step 6 and subsequent.
  11. Here's the write-up from the Service Manual for P1212, TCS Communication Line: "If DTC P1212 is displayed with DTC U1000 or U1001, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC U1000, U1001. The CAN communication line is used to control the smooth engine operation during the TCS operation. Pulse signals are exchanged between the ECM and the VDC/TCS/ABS control unit (models with VDC) or ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) (models without VDC). Be sure to erase the malfunction information such as the DTC not only for the VDC/TCS/ABS control unit or ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) but also for the ECM after TCS related repairs. Freeze frame data is not stored in the ECM for this self-diagnosis. The MIL will not light up for this self-diagnosis." This explains why you have no CEL.
  12. The ECU cuts fuel when rpm is over 1800 and there is no load on the engine. Fueling is turned back on at 1500 rpm, which porbably explains the hesitation you're seeing. Here's the text from the service manual: "If the engine speed is above 1,800 rpm under no load (for example, the shift position is neutral and engine speed is over 1,800 rpm) fuel will be cut off after some time. The exact time when the fuel is cut off varies based on engine speed. Fuel cut will be operated until the engine speed reaches 1,500 rpm, then fuel cut will be cancelled."
  13. The Nissan Service Manual lists the following as possible causes for P0430: a. Cat b. Leaky exhaust c. Intake air leak d. Fuel injector e. Fuel injector leak f. Spark plug g. Improper ignition timing
  14. Assuming your in the UK, bank 2 is the near side.
  15. Is the ignition on or off?
  16. Disconnecting and reconnecting might help. You could also check the connector contacts for corrosion. Just be very careful. Any stray voltage could deploy an airbag. The service manual recommends disconnecting both battery cables and waiting at east 3 minutes before doing any work on the airbags.
  17. According to the USA service manual, the 2 long, 1 short pulse train indicates a problem with the right-hand side airbag module circuit (right seat airbag). You may have a loose connector under the seat.
  18. Here's a quote from the service manual: "If DTC P1122 is displayed with DTC P1121 or 1126, first perform the diagnosis for DTC P1121 or 1126." You need to check the function of the Throttle Control Motor Relay on the IPDM E/R before you troubleshoot the actuator itself. The relay doesn't provide power directly to the actuator. Instead, it provides power to the ECU, which the ECU uses to provide the actuating signals to the throttle control motor. You can see the schematic in the service manual.
  19. A direct replacement is probably best. Until the problem is fixed you will keep getting the light every few days.
  20. mine is flashing because the bulb got bored of only saying hello during ignition. hes had his time in the lime light. its now time for me to turn him off, the social sod. a solid airbag light is a problem. Brilliant reply, but wrong. Both the steady and flashing lights indicate problems, just with different levels of severity. Check the service manual for diagnosis procedures.
  21. Before you reset the light, perhaps you should find out why it's flashing.
  22. No. I believe the only thing the switch does is disengage cruise control if you happen to shift without using the clutch.
  23. Does your car have an automatic or manual transmission? With a manual transmission the fault refers to a switch as described above. With an automatic, the park/neutral signal is generated in the Transmission Control Module and can effect starting and cruise control operation.
  24. Thanks for the templates. Do you also have them for the rear?
  25. Got a pic of these ? Sorry, no.
