  1. I went from a standard to a Cobra non-resonated. It can drone at certain revs but can be 'driven around'. It is a lot louder than standard, however it sounds awesome and always puts a smile on my face. I have no experience with the resonated Cobra but I'm very happy with the one I purchased (free plug for CS!) and have had many compliments on how good the car sounds.
  2. Is this correct that there are no holes on the back of a UK car? I read that this applies to the convertible only and not the coupe.
  3. I've never seen any of those either and my place is up there! Next time you lot are meeting give me a bit of an advance warning and I'll pop along.
  4. I don't know what the tax is on the older model (£280 maybe?) but I renewed my 07 last month at a cost of £490.
  5. Your photography skills are about as good as mine! Looks good though. I quite like the stripe - it establishes the size of the wheel better than just black. I think black Rays can look a little lost in the arches and was the reason I stuck with a standard silver for my refurb.

Cheers - be interesting come MOT time but I'll worry about that in a few months!

Hmm. I'm not sure about that particular mod. I think it looks better with some of the Japanese exhausts, and maybe the Scorpion, but the back box on the Cobra is quite small - even compared to standard.
  8. They look great. I like the Rays stickers - not so sure on the Nismo ones but each to their own. Get a pic up of them on the car as well once they're on - interested to see how they look.

T Thanks - I'll get another pic up when I've gotten my new Black Diamond discs on the old girl (turned up yesterday - cheers to Cougar Store once again).
  10. Something I'll be looking at in the future no doubt. I've spent enough on her this year already (P3, respray, wheel refurb, 4xMPSS, Cobra, brakes....) so it will be something to buy next year along with a plethora of other upgrades no doubt. Zeditus is a cruel illness.
  11. Really? This is the main engine fans we're talking about right? Christ I wonder if that's what it was? Nothing like publicly humiliating yourself!!
  12. Well after searching round on here to no avail I went and fiddled around with the fuses/relays (when I say fiddled I mean pull them out and put them back in) and it has seemingly cured the problem. Whether it returns or not remains to be seen, I'll just have to keep a look out , but at least I know it's nothing too serious.
  13. Hi guys. I've just noticed that my engine fans are coming on straight away when the car is started - even when it's stone cold and stay on. There are no overheating issues with the car and it runs just fine. I'm guessing there's a switch/relay somewhere that has failed? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what it is that may be causing the issue? Thanks in advance.
  14. They look expensive as well!! I've gone for a set of Black Diamond discs all round and matching pads courtesy of a nice deal offered by Cougar Store. I'll get some pics up and a review once they are fitted.
  15. A bit cheeky - but if you don't ask you don't get! Do any of the traders have any deals on at the moment or does anyone know of any offers that may be floating about? I'm looking to change my Brembo discs and pads all round as my front pads are low and rear discs are lipped so feel it would be worthwhile just changing the whole lot. I use the car on the road only - no track days and what not so I don't need the expensive stuff, but would be open to a mild upgrade (or simply stick with a standard set up). Any suggestions or advice on disc/pad combinations are appreciated - any deals even more appreciated! Thanks.
  16. I've got the Nav in mine and I have to say I quite like it. It's not without it's faults of course (no postcode entry is a bit annoying for example) but on the whole it does a good job. Plus as the OP mentions, it does look much better inside with it in place
  17. An hour?!! Was that with a 50 minute tea break in between changing bulbs? Haven't done my side lights yet but I've had a look & guess that it should take about 5 minutes a side. Hopefully I'm right, don't fancy taking the wheels off just to change a bulb & definitely not the bumper. Possibly a 15 minute break.... Either way it wasn't what I'd call a 5 minute job personally. I just found it awkward more than anything else and not something I'd look forward to doing again.
  18. I did mine with the wheel on not really knowing what I was doing - it took about an hour.
  19. I'd never seen it before. I think it had dark/smoked alloys as well. I was just happy to see another one!
  20. At about 19:20 this evening. OV54 I think it started with - had a little laugh with the driver - anyone on here? Good to actually see another Zed on the road, first one in absolutely ages now. Have to say they do look good on the road.
  21. Agreed - although with mine it's 1st to 2nd when cold. Once warmed up though things are smooth. Mechanical, but smooth.
  22. I see your point, but I get bored driving mine at that speed. When I say bored I don't mean 'God this cars boring', I mean more a case of the car wants you to play, and you'll want to play, and it's bye bye mpg! Don't get me wrong - I love mine - but I wouldn't want to plod along at 60 in it 5 days a week - although I do have zero self control so that probably doesn't help.
  23. I'm a bit confused by what you're after. You say you're happy sitting at 60 - which as you say is boring - but 60 is still 60. If you bought a 350, once you'd gotten over the initial excitement, you'd get bored driving that at 60 . The problem with getting a 350 for what you want is that you'll no longer want to travel at 60 as you'll be tempted to give it the beans and then you can wave goodbye to your 30mpg! Also your costs will rise significantly on everything over the Golf you have already. I guess it comes down to how much disposable income you have to play with. Depending on the condition of the car I couldn't see any reason why a 350z wouldn't be able to eat up that mileage. It's got a big, unstressed engine up front with proven reliability and will happily sit at speeds much higher than 60 all day long. Why not take your MX5 to work a couple of days a week instead (assuming its road legal of course) to alleviate the boredom?
  24. I'm not a fan of the stubby aerial or the wiper delete either. I get the thinking behind it, but its not for me.
  25. Oh right. Well let's use the above install as a guide as I've really no idea about prices. Circa £1500-£2000 supplied and fitted I'm guessing? I'm just curious so I can do a few sums. Also any thoughts on the standard nav compatability? I've read that an external speaker is required for an aftermarket head unit - is that correct? Thanks.
