Pan FTW, I think you pay more attention in the pan and that reduces the risk of them going critical, microwaves wants to heat everything to a million degrees. HP are the best BTW

Just coming up on a month, bought one on a whim. Naturally you save a fortune v fags and the smell (or lack) of is a winner. The bakky flavoured ones I find minging but quite like blueberry and blackcurrant, menthol is fine too. Not trying to quit, just caught myself wheezing once and thought I'd try the switch and see how I felt, been easy so far and throat feels better. See how dropping down a strength level goes next bottle, I guess I'll try and work down to the nicotine free ones if it doesn't bother me going down a step. I have quit in the past but missed the extra breaks from the office and chatting to folk outside, less so in winter though Once the initial novelty wore off, I find I used it a bit more frequently, but for less time, per 'fag'. It was really good on my recent road trip to Barca, no need to pull over for a wheeze and it leaves a faintly sweet mist in the car. In fact on more than one occasion I was ordered to fire it up as a beery gust had emanated from the rear passenger and was making our eyeballs burn.

Photo Geeks Assemble - DSLR Guidance Please

People keep mentioning the Tamron lenses, so I'll keep them in mind. The nifty fifty also seems to be a favourite, so that's logged too. Excuse the noobish question, but I am assuming (do correct me) that these 3rd party lenses are fully friendly with the canon bodies, in terms of compatibility of auto focus and including image stabilisation and whatever else they do when they're strapped on? -

I'm happy enough to buy the "good lens" straight off the bat, it's an option to go body only and pick up a lens of choice at the initial purchase, but I was expecting to be told to get used to the camera with the kit lens before changing. Which some have also said in fairness. Dblock I understand your solid reasoning on going second hand but I'll be buying the body new, simply because of my relative inexperience and if I went second and picked a lemon, I'd kick myself for having no comeback at the store/manufacturer. I can see myself considering second hand lenses in future though, once I've found my feet. Generally speaking, it seems to be a topic which is even more subjective than cars and just as emotive! I browsed some photography forums first, but I wasn't massively enthralled, bit too much detail for my level and a lot of Team Nikon v Team Canon stuff. Thanks for your comments, I've got some things to think about. -
Once high speed wireless connections really arrive and take off, landlines and being a slave to BT will become a thing of the past.

Funny you should mention the flip out screen DoogyRev, it's actual quite an attraction, I like a low shot so it'd be a big help for that, as well as shooting movies. The wifi doesn't float my boat really, an SDHC will go straight into my iMac. Not sure if that'll be quicker or slower transfer rates than wifi, but it's not a massive factor unless I'm shifting hundreds of photos. Beaming them directly to a tablet or phone might be kinda cool though. -

Dblock, the 50mm f1.8 has been recommended to me before, as you suggest it's rated as delivering excellent bang for buck. It's one of the reasons I started thinking about canon as I kind of leaned toward Nikon previously. As you say, it seems to be one of those Mac v Windows, Apple v Android, Sega v Nintendo type rivalries that polarises groups of people. I don't take many indoor shots so I'm hopeful low light won't be an issue, at least initially. Dan, I do believe these will both be decent entryish level camera body's, as you rightly say, I have indeed been agonising over the detail. The Nikon's pixel count and onboard GPS are attractive. I often jump out the car on a road trip, take a snap and then don't know where it was! Just somewhere between A and B. I try and take a quick iPhone pic now as well, so I get the geo tag from there later. However, 99% of all my photos are viewed on iPad or iMac so the pixel count of the Nikon isn't a massive factor, unless it gets to hardcore cropping down. I have a little experience with the D3100 and I found the menus a bit tricky, some stuff just seems to be hidden away sometimes. The touchscreen on the canon might be a factor. I'll bear that in mind ioneabee and 350zedd it's good to hear some love for the 18-140mm. Cheers all, you've confirmed I'm at least on the right track and not about to drop an expensive nut. Plus no one has said, they're not happy with the manufacturer they've chosen, which is also good to hear. I've also ot a bit of guerrilla movie bug to scratch too, I know you can't beat a dedicated video camera but I can't justify that expense so I'm hopeful I can accessorise whichever DSLR I go for, to shoot some nice looking HD footage. -
Judging by some of the epic Zed shots on here, there must be a few people who know their way around a DSLR, and I'm hoping to pick your brains. Since I borrowed a DSLR for my trip to Switzerland, I've been coveting the awesome images it produced in comparison to my current (great for a point and shoot) Lumix DMC-LX5. I have narrowed it down to the Canon EOS 700D and the Nikon D5300, I'd love to hear from anyone who owns either (or close relatives) about how well they rate them and also about the annoying things you don't necessarily notice until you've lived with something for a while. I believe both manufacturers have proprietary lens fitment, so I'm going to have to live with that company for a long time after I make this decision. Also, I notice they have a 18-135mm and 18-140mm, respectively, lens option over the kit 18-55mm. Will these be abit too jack of all trades? Or a great place to start off as a manual controls noob (I do have a little bit of experience). I intend to use it for vanity shots of my Zed, big landscapes and the occasional portrait. Thanks in advance.

I'm not a chemist, but isn't Vaseline petroleum based, the enemy of rubber? I'm sure I read somewhere you should use water based lube instead because of this. Maybe that was a different website....

You mean they're not all like this? This is my first and only forum and if the Zed ever goes, I can't imagine not asking to be allowed to stay (you need approval to remain yeah?) even if I end up with a dark pump guzzler with those weird seats in the boot. It is a real community and it shows how fantastic the web can be when it is done right, by and for the benefit of the members, it's a proper mutual. Now I think before any major life decision, be it car related or otherwise, What Would The Forum Say? That's because of both the members and the heroes (and they are heroes) that keep it going. This thread got me thinking just now about how pleased I was when first joined and got help with no flaming or "shut up noob" stuff. Then I was thinking, it must have been about a year now, just checked, in fact it was a year ago yesterday. I was quite keen on the Zed before I signed up, so probably would have bought one anyway, but my enthusiasm for it went nuts when I felt the Zed love on here. I'd never before so much as bought after market valve caps before 14th Jan 2013 I guess what I'm trying to say is, I F****** LOVE YOU GUYS and thanks for giving me the gift of Zeditis!

I doubt anyone looks as bad as me. I can never be bothered looking good after work, so im in grey joggers and grey hoodie when in the zed. People must think i stole it looking like a proper chav Yeah but I look like a tramp! I love scruffing out it in the zed, you get such weird looks from people when it pulls up and you've got your detailing tracky b's on and a hoody covered in stains.

Nice job, it never even occurred to me to wrap them. I've got scratches and CF wrap lying around, if only I could put 2+2 together!

I would say about 25%, its not only the initial money they take off you, its the amount they scam off your credit card when you give them the details... That seems a tad high. Selling financial products with "warm" leads did well to hit 25% sales when I worked there, and that's targeting people who are actively seeking the products you're peddling and expecting a call, not a cold call.

Are all the externals wedge type?

Interesting that some people simply accept the idea that Microsoft have agents proactively monitoring all windows machines across the globe (the numbers must be huge), ready to alert them to slow running/malware/any other dreamed up negative impact. It seems like an obvious scam, but not simply because I'm relatively interested in tech compared to some, just simply because I wouldn't generally accept at face value any kind of unsolicited advice, be it, web, phone or a knock at the door. I'd be very intrigued to know the success rate of something like this from the caller's point of view, even more so to know what percent of victims never even know they've been scammed.

Plastidipping anything. Two grommets for a wiper delete. A cheap yet colourful gear stick gaiter. Richbrook anti-theft, shiny valve caps.i assume you already have one of their 350z tax disc holders. Fluffy dice? I'm sorry, I've let down everyone, including myself.

Nice Zed, 370s keep making eyes at me...

Alex did me slave and line and fluid for mine, when the pedal was disappearing in the heat. Mine's a 2004. Solved!
-
Who knew it had an "engine release" under the dash? Presumably this is in case it goes critical and you need to eject before it explodes. Every day is a school day.
-
When my tech changed my slave and line he had the same thing at first, stuck religiously to the procedure in the link above and it finally came good. Not much help I know, but persevere and make sure you get the pump/bleed sequence/timing spot on. Good luck bud.

I recently dropped one of these in the "footwell" behind the driver's seat. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0027IXYGA/ref=pe_385721_37038051_pe_217191_31005151_3p_M3T1_dp_1 Cuts down condensation nicely when I get in, but does require "recharging". If I was doing it again I'd probably find a 1kg bag instead of 500g and order two, for squad rotation or, because yours seems really serious, one behind passenger seat as well. Other than that, crank your AC as per above. Good luck.
