  1. We've all done it, I've been caught a few years back. Undercover BMW parked behind a bush, booked me doing 40 entering a 30, I was decelerating at the time, just cosseting in the gears you know. I saw it and by the time I thought that's an undercover... It was too late. They asked me how fast I was going I said I was decelerating, to which they replied the standard issue do you know what the limit is etc. Things changed when they said you were doing forty, what do you think if that it words to that effect, to which I replied. I'm in the wrong, if you say I was doing 40 I was doing 40. The mood changed and they turned out ok, gave me one of those education corses as Dorset has some silly no excuses programme, and I was off on my way. I have had some stupid experiences in past though it has to be said with some jobs worths, they are out there like in any job. My old neighbour was a traffic cop, he told me there's a attitude test. Fail it and they will make life difficult. So I always stick to that, they're only people doing their job at the end of the day. The way I look at it, because I still speed. If I didn't have fun still I'd buy an estate. However if I get booked I wasn't paying enough attention, or I was doing it at the wrong time/place... Yellow boxes and neon painted vans are pretty obvious let's be fair. Just gotta take it in the chin like a man.
  2. The way things are ATM, you either have money or you don't. Very few people are willing to part with 30k that arn't willing to part with 40 or 50k. There seems to be a big gap at present between those that can afford to live and those can afford to spend, particularly amongst young people. What I'm saying is if you can afford to blow 30k on a sports cars odds on you can afford to spend more, so you likely will on something that appeals to you more.
  3. Also, as the price continues to plummet on these cars making them more chav affordable, this kind of this will become more common, sadly. As will bad mods, poor maintaince and all the other fun that comes with it. Glad to hear the club is so organised with its stance on road behaviour.
  4. Sorry to hear you experienced some bad road manors, I do about 50k miles a years and see some crazy crazy stuff, I regularly get abuse from those in the wrong. Just to clarify though, "undertaking" isn't illegal by its definition. Ie it's not a law itself, it was omitted from the Highway Code. You could be charged for dangerous or careless driving however for performing an unsafe undertake, if you get my drift. This is because if your on the motorway and the middle lane is full of idiots, progressing down the inside to your junction would be illegal. The law recognises they shouldn't be in the middle lane and that it is their responsibility to check their mirror before changing lane. This doesn't mean you can zip down the inside of a car in lane 3 doing 70 because you want to do 80. It does mean you could make a safe manoeuvre down the inside if they were doing say 60 etc and refused to give way to the traffic, ie they themselves were driving without due care and attention. Tbh though depending on plod, he might still book you because he's bored and he doesn't like your sports car, any excuse with some of them hey. It's one of those grey areas that's down to interpretation, but technically the old undertaking is illegal is a nonsense.
  5. Gotta be hasn't it. I hear these arnt as bad as they used to be.
  6. I mean speed bump same difference.
  7. You'd be abandoning it after half a mile when you fell in a pot hole or got stuck on a mountain.
  8. Nice. Yes tuning na's is a bit if a money pit. I built a 2l pinto about 8 years ago, lots of money later I'd upped myself to 130rwhp. Not overly impressive gains for the money...fun though. I've met one or two forced induction z33s. From what I understand the bottom end must be built as the compression ratio and internals would be unsuitable, is that correct? Most seem to have a few bolt ons that net them 10-20hp but the higher power cars don't seen all that common. Surely cost for cost with it being an expensive engine to make big gains engine swaps would be more common place? I'd love to see a vh45de z33 or an ls variant, rb would be a bit boring and wrong in my opinion. A chap in the US has swapped out a vg30de to the z33 engine. I suppose he wanted to say NA so the gains from the stock 225hp would have been good.
  9. I went to buy practical classics in holland for something to read in the airport the €13 price tag saw it back on the shelf fairly sharpish.
  10. Just out of curiosity really, with then being non turbo. How many are running more than stock levels of power. I mean actually dyno proven noticeable improvements. How rare is a say 350-400 or 4-500hp z33?
  11. That yellow one sounded great but it didn't sound like a v, there was so much rasp it was simply raspy, nothing else. The trouble is getting that note your after without it being too loud. You often end up with what you want higher up but at cruising speeds a droney aggravation.
  12. 10j with 225s! I bet that thing drives like a heap. All show no go.
  13. Needs to come up by around an inch IMO. Those wheels are too tucked looks like a fat family jumped in and everything collapsed. The 350 does need an aggressive stance but that's just well not it.
  14. Seen one or two of these on my travels, by far the best looking z Nissan have produced in recent history. Actually quite fancy one myself.
  15. That is hilarious, we've all done it though, walked through and then smugly thought mines fastest.
  16. I'm guessing you've got a g35? Essentially a z33 2+2 isn't it. Odd really that the z33/4 arnt offered as a 2+2 all the other z's were. Z32 the chassis designation is even z32 for short wheel base and gcz32 for 2+2
  17. My turbos spool in at 1500rpm and pull all the way to 7krpm....... No lag and die off here.

    Hampshire

If there's anything occuring more towards the west Hampshire area or in Dorset I may pop along in the z32.
  19. Totally agree, the new supra will be a competitor to the gtr not the zed, both in terms if price and performance.
  20. Yes that new Toyota is a serious looker! As for the zx not having cariamas or supercar looks, I'd have to disagree. The 280 and z31 300 are very chips American looking. If you look at them all side by side they all actually mirror together very well. I honestly don't think any z has looked like a super car. (Another subjective term, what is a supercar?) The 280zx is the ugly duckling. Obviously I'm biased in my opinion that the z32 is the best looker, hence why I've got one. I'm a sucker for a 240 though. Have you read this article? jalopnik.com/nissan-is-probably-cooking-up-a-new-turbo-z-1504981955
  21. I met a chap the other week who is putting one in a beetle I believe.
  22. You've obviously not owned an 8 then haha. I was shocked how much surface rust accumulated over 4 years if normal use. I was horrified when the sump pan fell off. I was frustrated by the fact you can't drive it 5feet to move it out the way at work, without leaving it running for a few minutes for the fact if would flood. There cheap for a reason. Badddddd car.
  23. Coupe is such a, well subjective thing. Too me a coupe must be long up front short at the back and have a sloped roofline toward the rear. Think ford Capri that's, coupe too me. An m3 or a r33 esp the 34 isnt, you can disagree but it's a personal thing. The flat boot and large passenger cabin area have the profile of a Jetta. (Not much if a skyline fan) Don't even get me started on the RX8! Ugh! That's a car that embarrasses it's predecessor. Recreating a classic should not include making it bigger heavier and less powerful full stop, it should also show some progression. Making a car that pulls 230 hp out of 14mpg, common Mazda what on earth were you thinking!
  24. So a 3 door 3 series is a coupe?
  25. Sorry bloody iPhone, that was supposed to be "do it properly" I totally agree a 4cyl zed is not a z, is an s. What I'm saying is historically the differences between skylines and Fairlady's have been pretty close on paper. The z33 and r35 bucked that trend, the z33 is no where near comparable on paper. I expect that trend to continue, ie the gap to get bigger, due to the market wanting a £30k coupe that does mpg. Therefore it won't be a z with a v6 turbo. It will likely be a 4cyl turbo. This is what the motoring press have said. The r35 is def a coupe, however I wouldn't say the other r's were. The r35 really is nissans flagship at present by a long way, and defines how much the skyline has changed to become a true supercar. The 32 could be any 90s box pretty unexciting, and 33 came in 4 door and estate versions did it not? Funny coupe.
