  1. Whilst Sky were very helpful they couldn't beat my Admiral quote.
  2. I replaced the Bridgestones with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The car never felt safe in the rain with the Bridgestones. The MPSS transform the car. The road noise is consderably reduced and the ride is more comfortable. And as for grip, they are sublime in the wet and dry. For me, the extra cost if worth it for the increased safety.
  3. As its a replacement head unit i'm guessing it's not installed properly. Sounds like the electrics are a bit damp but dry off during the drive in. Some stereo fitters use a device called a splice connector to join wires instead of soldering the connections which can get let moisture from the air in. Take the centre console apart (there are many guides on this forum or ask me if you get stuck) and check the wiring for the stereo. Search Amazon for "slice connector" to see a pic.
  4. I own a Roadster and you can double the boot space by lifting the carpet and removing the spare tyre. Never had any problems fitting suitcases into the boot since. You can buy tyre sealant if you get a flat or get the AA to tow you home.
  5. Well, since i started this thread i thought i'd update it with what i finally plumped for. I spoke with Jez at Horsham Motors and we decided on the following: EBC Bluestuffs Pads all round DBA 4000 front discs EBC Ultimax rear disc HEL brake lines Motul 600 brake fluid 4 wheel laser alignment All that including VAT and fitting cost £1205. I've been driving on this setup for a few months now and have also done 3 track days. For a track pad the Bluestuffs bite from cold is perfectly fine. No problems with day to day driving. The very next day i was at the track. The pads take a while to bed in. Initially the pedal was quite soft and performace of the braking system not so great but after 20 or so laps of mixed braking to coat the new discs they started working a treat. It took some very aggressive braking to bed them in properly; stamping on them from 80 miles an hour down to 20 about 10 times. With the stock Brembo setup i could only do about 7 to 10 minutes on the track before the pedal went to the floor and I'd have no brakes. Then have to wait 90 minutes for the brakes to cool. This was not due to the fluid boiling as i was running Motul 660. Measuring the front discs when coming in would show 240C. Now I can do 15 to 20 minute stints with only a 30 min cooldown needed between them. I stop after 20 minutes not due to brake fade but due to my lack of talent, i've not tried staying out longer. On coming in, the front discs are 500C but without any fade. If you do uprate your braking system don't forget to ring your insurance company and let them know otherwise you might not be covered. Admiral changed me £17 more with 6 months cover left. v
  6. I've booked my 350Z on to this event. I've been once before and it's a great track. It's very well run - firm but fair - by the guys at Motorsport Events. £109 for the day. Would be nice to see other Z owners there!
  7. Ideally I'd change the discs immediately but they are a big expensive. Would there be any drawback if I just buy PF-01 pads for the front now and see how they perform on my stock discs? Then when they wear out get new PF or DBA discs? (The car is completely standard with no modifications at the moment.)
  8. Big thanks to all you guys for your comments. I'll let you know what i buy.
  9. I use my 350Z (2007 Roadster GT) for track days and I have no confidence in the brakes. The car is stock with Brembo brakes and after about 7 to 10 minutes on the track I get a very soft pedal then quickly no brakes. I’ve swapped out the brake fluid to Motul 650 but it hasn’t really helped. I've bought a pyrometer and the front discs reach 240C, rear 70C. I'm assuming the stock pads are overheating? I know HEL steel lines and Endless fluid will help and that will be my next upgrade. I want to do a track day a month and also use it day to day on the road. I know i can't spend all day out on the track but at the moment i only get four 8 min sessions on a 7 hour track day. The last two sessions have a soft pedal and I don't enjoy it as I'm terrified of my brakes suddenly disappearing as they have done so before. I'm unsure if simply buying PF-01 pads for the front and using the stock Brembo calipers and disks would be enough? Would they be up to it? Would i need to replace the pads at the back to keep the car balanced? If I need new discs too can i just do the front or will that unbalance the car? Any advice? Thanks.
