  1. See you there !!! I'll be there in my old boat and an NSX-R Urggghhhh.... Let me count my pennies . Would love to make it if i can. Top job Rob........and an NSX-R is pretty awesome!! My brother will be there in his little VXR220 and my friend with his M3 CSL too so a pretty good line up Willis.........you know you want to Is it too early to be praying for dry tarmac and sunshine all day!?
  2. Spot on summary of the place! I've driven round there when its been dry in some sectors and raining in others, luckily the marshals wave the slippery surface flags when you're approaching the wet track so you can back right off. Regarding lap times my clearest full lap and only 2nd of the day sadly was a 9min40sec which I think you can knock 30secs off for BTG time and I certainly got a lot quicker through the day but then also lifting to let the quick boys through as it naturally got a little busier stops you getting a time. As one guy on YouTube has shown the Zed has a 8min12sec BTG in it and that boy is committed, so well under 9min full lap makes the old Datsun pretty respectable I'd say Would love to go out there and spend few days at it and it not be so rushed and feeling like I need to go out again and again so I get the track time in and my moneys worth...........very jealous guys!!
  3. Good to read you've decided to keep it and enjoy it!! Nice additions you've made there too, you must be quiet enough to pass a 92dB drive by at Brands and the very strict Bedford Autodrome...........get those ART pipes back in there! Really like the RPF1's, think I'm switching back to 18's and those or the RS05RR are top of my list.......which fitment to go for is a bit tricky though
  4. Cheers! Really happy with it and given that's 343Hp on a dyno dynamics (heartbreaker) that's a real result! Shame I've not got a before sheet from the same dyno to properly compare too though as the dynapack sheet I have got reads so high in comparison that according to that I've actually lost 9whp after all this work.............best 9 I've ever lost though I can tell you!!! Yes was gonna mention that.......There are still places available for the Anglesey day I'm booked on to May 29th https://circuit-days...y-view-event-43 I have also booked onto Donington July 28th too http://www.bookatrac.../event-calendar ...........if anyone fancys adding some Zed's to either list??
  5. Glad you had a great time!! Such a great place!! I've not been round on touristenfahrten day but can totally imagine the difference between the mon-fri vs sat-sun experience. We had exactly the same when we did our track day with DN, all day only a few cars recovered and I think 1 red flag...........track day ended and about 10mins into public session red flag, recovery truck and ambulance are out and an E90 M3 on brit plates smashed to bits comes back! Ruined it for everyone else. It so good seeing proper machinery being put through its paces round there too, the super cars stay in the car park in the UK they get driven flat out on track in Germany! Great little sample vid and pics, cant beat those high speed compressions/corners can you?..................nein drifting made me chuckle and top job at acting the clueless englisch!!
  6. Glad you've enjoyed following the build, making it a better drivers car really has been my goal and as its not a well trodden route to stick n/a there was a bit of hoping it would all come together and work well. It has gone up a fair few notches and quite fierce on the road and I get to find out how good it is on track in 3 weeks at Anglesey......but it was good before so can't wait to get on it there! Thanks...........nice when it all comes together and you can start enjoying all your efforts Cheers.........been a pleasure sharing the build on this forum Don't know what a totally stock HR would dyno at but the best result I could find for de-catted and UpRev'd HR on a Dyno Dynamics RR was 320Hp and I'm 23 up on that with a much nicer power and torque line. Think the cams / headwork and manifolds have added evenly to the overall gain.........hard to know what any would have done without the other......and I'll let someone else find out thanks!! Thanks........It would be very hard to get there but nothing is impossible. If I had of rebuilt the bottom end too I would've used high comp pistons with larger valve clearances to allow for some higher lift and longer duration cams. I would also say you'd have to bin the factory intake and go with the Jenvey throttle bodies too to achieve 300whp but that would be such a nice engine to drive! I'll keep updates coming as there's always something but it's a long way off.........time to just enjoy it on track and on a few road trips!
  7. Hi, Are you talking final drive? If so think there's a slight error with the numbers. To my knowledge there is a 4.08 (or 4.1) and 4.36 available and the stock ratio is 3.5 Changing the final drive does make a big difference, I've just changed to a 3.9 and was quite surprised how much difference it has made, both to how you can work the gear box now to keep the engine on song and where the revs now sit cruising on motorway runs. On paper it doesn't look like much but in the real world it does. The 4.08 upwards I would reserve for a track only car as its a bit full on for an every day road car in my opinion but each to there own I nicked this from the web..........gives you the idea STOCK 3.538 Gear-- ECU REFLASH 3.538 ---HR Engine 6600 Rpm Redline -------7200 Rpm Redline-----------7500 Rpm Redline First -----38mph ------First-----42mph-----------First-----43mph Second ----62mph-------Second----68mph-----------Second----71mph Third -----89mph-------Third ----97mph-----------Third----101mph Forth ----114mph-------Forth----124mph-----------Forth----129mph Fith -----144mph-------Fith-----158mph-----------Fith-----164mph Sixth ----182mph-------Sixth----199mph-----------Sixth----207mph No Reflash 3.9 Gear -- ECU REFLAH 3.9-----HR Engine 6600 Rpm Redline ----------7200 Rpm Redline-------7500 Rpm Redline First ------35mph-------First ---38mph-----------First-----39mph Second -----56mph-------Second---62mph-----------Second----64mph Third ------81mph-------Third----88mph-----------Third-----92mph Forth------103mph-------Forth---113mph-----------Forth----117mph Fith-------131mph-------Fith----143mph-----------Fith-----149mph Sixth------165mph-------Sixth---180mph-----------Sixth----188mph No Reflash 4.083 Gear-- ECU REFLASH 4.083--HR Engine 6600 Rpm Redline ------------7200 Rpm Redline---------7500 Rpm Redline First ------33mph--------First ---36mph----------First-----38mph Second -----54mph--------Second---59mph----------Second----61mph Third ------77mph--------Third ---84mph----------Third-----88mph Forth ------99mph--------Forth---107mph----------Forth----112mph Fith ------125mph--------Fith----137mph----------Fith-----142mph Sixth -----158mph--------Sixth---172mph----------Sixth----179mph
  8. Just a very small sample from the drive home........the only bit I'm happy to post on a public forum too
  9. After what feels like an eternity I finally got the car mapped, MoT'd and geo done Thursday/Friday!! Here goes.......... Being its the first proper drive out since all this work began is was a fairly anxious drive down to Chieveley first thing Thursday morning via a Shell station for a full tank of V-power of course but the car was all good and we arrived at Horsham Developments and I set to swapping out my injectors for the R35 set in the car park (I did change the others too) Then on to the dyno for some results........ @Flywheel @Wheels Secretly 100Hp/Ltr was my goal so achieving 98 was OK.........to put that in perspective the Porsche 996 GT3 is 100Hp/Ltr with 360@7200 built at Stuttgart's finest and I was 343@7200 built in a garage somewhere in Warwick. Forgetting the numbers alone the power curve is so much smoother than previously and the torque line nice and flat and that really shows in the driving. Huge thanks to Jez for his time and skills for making that happen. Given what I wanted to achieve when I set out starting this latest work I've got to say I am so happy with it, across the ground the car is so much quicker than before and probably more pleasing is just the response of it, it just pulls through the revs and right up to 7200rpm then when you snatch the next gear it drops you straight back into good power again. Paired with its new very tuned N/a sound track it is a very exciting car to drive. On top of the engine mods the other parts I installed along the way are proving very very welcome most of all the new vibra-technics engine and gearbox mounts making the gear change so positive and precise even when really pressing on without introducing any unwelcome noises or vibrations in to the cabin. If I was to do it all over again I think the only thing I wouldn't bother with was the new head unit I fitted (the one the car came with was chav tastic!) as with its new highly addictive sound track it'll probably never get turned on! Cheers to everyone who's kept up with the progress of this build its been a pleasure sharing it with you.
  10. Agreed, have just watched a few myself and the new GT3's 'Ring lap of 7min12.7 is incredible!! And that it still has good manners on the road and is as happy to be a weekend toy or driving to work is a real achievement.........I'm not a massive Porsche fan but I am always impressed with the engineering that goes into these cars. With regards to who I like to read/watch........its Jethro Bovingdon and Henry Catchpole for me (of Drivetribe from Evo), really enjoy their work, whether on paper or infront of the camera they do a great job. Proper car fans and enthusiasts. Second to them would be Richard Meaden (still with Evo) and Chris Harris. Dan Prosser is at the other end of the scale for me............he can make the best cars in the world sound boring!!
  11. 5 years to the day and still helping people out!!! Was pulling my hair out as MOT next week and airbag light started flashing after steering wheels was removed, did this and all sorted. This is what owner forums are all about
  12. Anyone interested in these? So much better than the leather seats for fast road track driving!
  13. I didnt spend loads of money on the car for noise, it's for power!! To be honest the recording is rubbish!! That's more a reflection of my production skills than the difference in the car, on a proper decent set of speakers the difference is clearer. The tone has completely changed and it's a much purer, crisper engine sound. Volume wise I'm pleased it's not too loud as I won't be able to go on any tracks + it'll annoy all my neighbours and probably me too eventually on a long road trip. I'll try and work on a better vid while it's getting mapped and that'll be under load where it sounds pretty angry!!
  14. Sounds like everything you had to do you did correctly. Do you know what oil was in the car for the running in though? May be hard to know now it's been changed but all that correct procedure is a bit of a waste if it was on fully sythetic oil as this will stop the small amount of wear required to bed in the piston rings in the honed block. Sadly this is why traders can afford to charge so much for this work! Hope your garage does sort it out for you.
  15. I am really surprised that so many are experiencing such high usage. Sorry this is slightly off topic here but I've done several road trips in my Zed's (De and HR) over the years, the latest ones being a 3000miles round trip that went to the south of France in June 16 and another 2000mile trip in September 16 to Germany Inc one full day lapping the 'Ring, during both trips I redlinned the car once or twice!! and I didn't even take any oil with me. Are people honestly saying it would've been expected and acceptable that I would've run out of oil during these trips over this distance? Please don't think I'm being difficult............I am just really surprised by this, especially after owning a Zed's since 2012 and never experiencing this at all. Maybe I have just been very lucky with my cars
  16. 1/2lt of oil every couple of tanks of juice.......its not an RX7/8 My old DE got tracked loads over the 4 years I owned it and I can't remember ever topping it up between services, which I admit were very regular but always a couple of thousand miles between and at least 2 track days. Rob has a very good point regarding running in, there are specific running in oils you must use to bed in the new piston rings etc, If they put 5w30 fully synthetic in straight away then this wouldn't have happened
  17. Was a while ago to be fair but the car doesn't do that many miles, I'm not going to worry to much will just keep an eye on it If its been a while then I wouldn't worry too much as you say, if that magnet was clean last week then maybe it would be different. Definitely think high temps and thin oil is a contribution to what you're seeing there, switching to thicker should prevent any further high wear. Millers Oils website first mentions track day use at 10w-- on its CFS engine oil so that should tell you something 5w-- is for "max power release like qualifying laps or sprints/ hillclimb use where its short duration". I also change my oil every 2 track days even if its 2 in 1 month!, maybe over kill but £60 on oil to protect £000's worth of engine is a good deal in my book Good luck with it all
  18. When was the last time you did an oil change and that was clean?
  19. Please see link to 350z HR ad, these also fit the 370z http://www.350z-uk.c...dyne-art-pipes/
  20. For sale are the very best decats you can get for your Z, these will fit both 350z HR and 370z cars. If you have a DE car though I do have a set of HR stock manifolds which will enable these to fit your car and together are a really good upgrade over factory setup. I bought these brand new and they were used between May to October and covered roughly 5000miles so are in perfect condition and will only require new gaskets to install. £500 collected from Warwick preferred but can post at buyers request
  21. For sale are a pair of fabric/ manual adjustment front seats, they are far more supportive than the leather ones, sit slightly lower and also weigh a good amount less so are a great swap if you enjoy using your Zed fast road / track days without going all out on bucket seats. The drivers seat is in very good condition but does have some wear on the door side bolster but does not affect comfort or support, see photos The passenger seat is in mint condition £100 collected from Warwick Drivers: Passengers:
  22. Also sorry to hear about your pooch, looks like a right cheeky character in that pic. Good to hear you're enjoying the car and getting it to more your liking. The Zed really is a great drivers car with only a few choice mods and one of them is definitely a proper diff. I've just fitted a 3.9 FD to mine this year and am really looking forward to stirring the box a bit more now and keeping that engine singing! I know its been covered over and over but I have run with Pagid RS29 and millers 300+ brake for years and years and they are always there hot and cold same every time you hit the pedal and that is worth the price tag all day long for me, if I try anything else it'll be the performance friction 08 pads.................hopefully in PF ZR31 calipers but now we are talking £££ Hope you have a great time in Germany, as you say such a special place just bubbling with all things car and track related........just wish I could get out there more! PS keep meaning to ask you what that front lip is? Less is more with the Zed and that looks just right!
  23. So yesterday and today I finished up getting the car back together, it was fired up yesterday and run through the cam breaking in procedure and today I went out for a little drive just to finish with the cams and make sure all is OK. Was really nice to back in the Zed even though I've got to take it so easy, for 1 its pre tune and running rough and 2 its on 8 month old knackered fuel so I cant wait to get it mapped and get in under full load and revved out! So few pics, got the inlet manifold back on Saturday so got that bolted down............gasket matched inlets Then moved on with plenum and installing new Stillen Gen 3 intakes..........bit of a faff but not too bad (considering the cost they should just fit perfect with no work at all!!) hopefully they're worth it and able to feed the engine with all the air its gonna be wanting after these new parts and mods! Its amazing how long it takes to then tidy up few cables and bits n pieces, fit trim etc back on..............but that's it! I did take a little vid before and this one today, not the best bit of filming or editing (I'm no Willis!) but it gives you the idea. Under load the noise is different again but mostly in tone and luckily not really in volume so fingers crossed I'm still trackday friendly. Also pleasing is that it feels keener even just pottering around, got to take it so easy though as not only is it pre tune its also on 8 month old knackered fuel but I really cant wait to load it up and rev it out!
