  1. Ok then, thank you all, I will do as you say and hope for an improvement
  2. You aren't teasing me are you with Vaseline and baby oil? If it's true, I will go and buy some and try it but I know how you all like to pull my leg
  3. It seems to be coming from the top of the window, quite far forward. I stuck a few tissues in and that one was soaking wet when I took them out before opening the door. I did the same on the way home and, again, that front tissue was sodden. I thought at first it was just because I'd opened the door to get in and let some rain in but it kept dripping as I drove along. It was a bit hard to look at the window and drive, of course, so I couldn't really see where the drips were coming from but they all landed on my arm near my wrist. I am worried that the water will get into the switches on the door. I've got a cover but I can't put that on until the car is clean and it's filthy at present.
  4. As a Lady Who Lunches, I have just done what I am really good at and driven out for lunch in my Zed but what I feared happening after all this rain has come true and my roof is leaking I improvised by shoving tissues inside the window but I still arrived at the restaurant looking as though a hamster had wee'd on the arm of my jacket. My car port is still roofless with no prospect of the work being completed as the rain is torrential ... again I need to get this sorted but the bl**dy rain needs to stop first. Getting really fed up with it now and wish I lived in a house with a nice, dry garage.
  5. Loving your ingenuity Ian My shelter is a bit 'improvised'Â too but it should do the trick.
  6. Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll get some Stormsure and Renovo and my problems should soon be sorted I can't wait to be able to get out with all my car cleaning stuff and make Mr Z presentable again
  7. Thanks Neil. I've only managed to clean my Zed once as it has rained for so long. I've still not had a chance to do the roof properly. Once I have got a shelter to park him under I am hoping to clean and protect his roof. I've got all the products but you can't exactly use them in the rain can you? If I'm not happy with the look of the roof after my efforts I'm going to think about getting it re-dyed. I can't really assess the state of it until it is dry though.
  8. I've had my roadster for a few weeks now and it has had to sit outside in the pouring rain for most of that time. My builder chap is making a sort of rustic 'car port' arrangement for me out of Scots pine logs and corrugated iron roofing which I am hoping will help protect Mr Zedbelly from the elements. Does anyone else have a roadster that is not garaged and how has it fared over time? I have noticed that the two little tabs either side of his roof need sticking down so does anyone know which glue to use for the best result?
  9. I hope so and please let it be noted that the only perfume I'm wearing after mucking out my horse is Eau de Horse Wee An acquired taste I believe
  10. No real answer to that one other than I may be old at 45 but I'm fairly sure that the other bit doesn't apply I think I need to employ the services of an image consultant as I obviously keep typing the wrong thing if everyone thinks I'm making advances. I'll get me coat
  11. Yup. Please show your bus passes at the door or you can't come in
  12. Sarnie, I think I understand that but it does make my brain hurt a bit Anyone else think SMD has a certain way with words?
  13. SMD, you've gone too far this time. I'm not a farrowing pig
  14. Dave (and anyone else who's interested), insurance now sorted. Both my Fiat and my Zed are insured with me as the main driver and my husband as a named driver. Daughter is named driver on the Fiat too. It got even more bizarre and complex in the end as my husband said that the insurers told him it was a good job he wasn't the main driver of the Zed as they wouldn't have insured him. Er, doesn't make sense since they have insured him as the named driver and told him that, if he were not the a named driver, my insurance would have cost more Absolutely none of this makes any sense so I don't know why I even tried to apply logic to it in the first place.
  15. SMD, that's confused me even more What determines legal ownership then?
  16. But I do look like a 27 year old Ok, maybe more like two 27 year olds welded together
  17. Ok fair point. My decision is hereby overturned
  18. Oh no she won't Consider 20 points docked immediately
  19. At the risk of making a fool of myself I think that the time machine thingy backs it up automatically doesn't it? I've got what I believe to be an external hard drive sitting under the desk so I have always assumed that I have copies of everything stored on that? I stand ready to be corrected by wiser folk though I've not done any real work on my website since the machine started to go wonky (to use the technical term) and I think anything that I have done will be stored on the server? Surely, I must have that bit right?
  20. You are very lucky and I think the splodge on the bonnet adds a certain je ne sais quoi
  21. Thank you for that Girnet I now now know that it is a 20" iMac, mid 2007, which I wouldn't have known without your help. Hmm, it's pretty old then. I've tried looking up known problems and it seems that some others are having the same things happening to theirs but it all quickly descends into a load of geeks arguing with each other as is normally the way with techie forums I believe? Sorry if anyone here is a full paid-up geek, I'm not having a go I think I will just rely on keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't conk out again and get used to the noise of the fan on constantly. Might have to switch it off before I go to bed in case it burns the house down overnight though
  22. It's not a laptop or macbook it's a, a, a ... I don't know a desktop maybe? It's on my desk anyway and too big to carry around with me and it has a separate keyboard. See, I told you I wasn't technical I've hoovered it all over but I don't dare switch it off in case it doesn't come back on properly. I think the DVD drive (if that's the correct term?) is on the blink too as it doesn't seem to open things properly. I think a spare one of those has arrived for fitting too. I just want it to keep working until someone cleverer than me can fix it properly or buy me a new one if all else fails.
  23. Thanks to everyone who has helped me so understand how car insurance works. Just spoken to my husband and he is going to ring insurers to sort things out tonight. Apparently, he has got some current NCD from the other cars we've owned so, hopefully, everything will work out ok. I don't normally get my knickers in a twist over things like this but I was panicking that Zedbelly was sitting on the drive uninsured I haven't driven him for ages due to the horrible weather but I would hate anything to happen to him.
  24. Aaaargh, you've noticed that they are out to get me too! Paranoid, moi? I think not Seriously, the fan is on all the time and it isn't normally. It's getting really hot too (hence the fan working overtime I guess) which is ok in one way because I don't have to switch the heating on ...
