Isn't it just that the Bose amp has a permanent live feed?
Mine does it too, btw.

I got a new Karcher 5.800 a Snow foam lance from Polish Bliss and some of that avalanche stuff
Im currently offshore but cant wait to get home and use it!
Boys and there toys!
Avalanche doesn't foam as well as others but it does shift a lot of dirt - it's more sudsy than foamy - great stuff in terms of performance though.

I had a problem similar to this a few years back when cornering left @ speed. Got black flagged for it on track. Went over the car checking every moving part & changed pads/disks, & it ended up being the metal dust shield behind the nearside brake, it was just touching the disk under extrreme cornering. But as stevo said it`s likely to be low pads.
That. Your scraping noise is probably the dust.stone guard behind either front wheel if it's just when on lock, mine did this too. Wheel off, bend the guard back slightly, wheel back on, problem solved.

ok - the white spirits didn't work
I'll try methelated spirits next ?? - gotta find somewhere that sells it 1st tho
White vinegar and clean off with newspaper and also give the blades a good clean with the vinegar.
Do you eat the chips first?
Of course! You don't want chips all over your windscreen...

I think poundland should be investigated as their prices have been fixed for years
Quite right Dave, BTW how much is that?
Ahhh another favourite game, asking staff in poundland how much stuff is...
"How much is this?"
"A pound"
"Thanks, how much if I buy 3?"
"3 pounds"
"Thanks, what about if I buy 5?"
"5 pounds"
Continue until a - you get bored or b - you get abuse
The Poundland round this way has developed it's own game along these lines; there's posters up outside advertising "£2 off". I really should investigate how much money I can make by shopping there.

As others have mentioned, the cooler, denser air will make a difference, I don`t notice it in the zed, just fill her up when she gets low (about 250miles to a tank). But my derv is down about 8mpg since the outside temps have dropped. Only averaging 47mpg with my lead foot & 3ltr soot chucker
+1 with my Derv, i'm barely getting 40mpg at the moment
how do you manage that David Hobbs?
He's not worked out how to change out of first gear yet.

I would agree with the above regarding a hose if you're using an open ended hose, however with any sort of spray gun type of attachment I much prefer that to a pressure washer.
This is a good step-by-step guide.

I can get my feet behind my head, will that get me a discount?
on a serious note; having a female partner on your insurance helps. being married brings it down even more. my wife was involved in an accident 2 yeas ago, it bumped my premium up, so I looked into removing her. the quote came back a hell of a lot higher. so she stayed on.
That may not be the case any more since 21st.

There is a set lying in my garage lol.. but would be looking at the 900 mark for me to be tempted.
I'll give you 900 (Deutsche) Marks for them.

Try claying it, if that doesn't work then try vinegar, if that still doesn't work try an IPA wipe. Clean the blades with vinegar at the same time too.
If none of that works, try Wasso's suggestions. If that doesn't work, replace the car.

At the very least get on go compare or the like and put your mods in and get a range of quotes. I used Admiral for my Zed, I added the Milltek, induction kit, HFCs, wheels and the increase was around £25 for the year. Then again I have decades of driving and age on my side...
...then they quoted us £600 for a bog standard Ford Focus, so we switched to Sheilas wheels for £290.
Interesting, Admiral told me they couldn't quote me because I have the Nismo exhaust... this was at renewal too, having insured me for the previous year with the same exhaust declared.

Yep, all done. At least I think, lol, I'm being sent paper work in the post to sign... It's been years since I've taken out insurance with paper work!
I just like to think Ive got a good deal. I was having a sulk because I don't feel it's justified to charge me £100 more for 5 days cover when I won't even be using the car anyway.
I guess it's swings and roundabouts, last month I got £33 of free petrol through the tesco vouchers, this month I lost out to an insurance company. I wonder what January will bring.....
Think of it this way, you've saved yourself £100 in fines.
When I had my FTO I had it sat on the drive wasn't being used as I had my zed, so I didn't bother renewing the insurance as I was selling it, after a. Week I got a letter through from DVLA. Warning me if I didn't get it insured I'd then get fined, so u get a warning first failing that can't u get temp insurance for a week?
The DVLA don't HAVE to do this, so you can't rely on it; there have been numerous stories (more recently) that no warning was issued before the fine. That said, some people do seem to still receive the warning.
I guess it depends on how much is already in the DVLA Christmas Party Fund at the time...

Just a bit of a price difference then.
I'd be interested to see what the durability is like though, it would certainly be a bonus during winter not having to take the wheels off!
-
Out of interest, how much of the C5 did you use to do all 4 wheels? I could be tempted away from the Poorboys when it eventually runs out.
-
Personally I would just sit tight if you can park it off the road (ideally out of sight). As you say you will get a first warning if you haven't broken the rules previously.
Considering it's all monitored by databases, I doubt hiding the car away will prevent you from being fined (first offence or otherwise). At best it'll prevent the car being clamped/towed/crushed (if left uninsured long-term), but instead increase the likelihood of a court prosecution with a four figure fine rather than the three figure fixed penalty.
-
A couple of layers of Poorboys will see a good few months of protection. I usually top it up every other month, long before it's actually needed it.

You've answered your own question;
obviously i want to wait and save the cash but it is illegal to own an uninsured car.
However, seeing as it's currently illegal anyway...
My car ran out of insurance on Saturday and is currently uninsured
...it's entirely up to you whether you want to extend the risk of getting caught.
Provided its off the public highway - its at your own risk
Only if it's also declared SORN. If it's taxed, it must be insured regardless of where it's kept.

Ok bad news, my insurer wont cover the K&N filter...
I changed insurers because my old one wouldn't cover because no tracker
Help...
ps, i've got the original air filter, or i try and change insurance
Get quotes from the companies on here.
I've got a K&N in mine and my insurance doesn't know about it, shhhh. I only discovered it a few months after I'd bought the car. Then you're not insured.

I'm down your way over xmas if you want me to have a feel of the clutch (cue the lad's tittering
)

Even during a hosepipe ban, two buckets of water would still be better anyway.

For winter, personally, I prefer to use a sealant rather than a wax (which I use over the summer months) purely due to the durability. Jeffs Werkstat Acrylic works very well and will easily last a couple of months if applied correctly, but this time I've opted for Poorboys EX-P to see how that lasts. With the latter particularly, you can top up with wax too if you like.
Any tips you have for 'proper' application? So to be clear you could apply a Wax over the sealant?
Preparation is everything. Make sure the car is as clean as you can get it with the clay bar.
There's then two/three steps to the Acrylic kit (paraphrased from here);
Step 1 – Werkstat Prime Acrylic
Deep cleans the paintwork after claying.
Werkstat Prime Acrylic should be applied to freshly clayed paint. Only 3-4 pea-sized drops of product are required per panel, and these should be wiped in as firmly and evenly as possible to produce a film that should then be allowed to dry for up to 10 minutes. Once hazed over, this film should then be buffed off.
Step 2- Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger
The actual sealant part of the process.
Lightly mist Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger over a single panel at a time and immediately wipe the panel down to spread a thin, even film of product. Then refold your microfibre and buff the panel down carefully to fully remove the film. I'd recommend between two and five coats of Trigger, the more you apply the better the durability and the deeper the shine.
Step 3 – Werkstat Acrylic Glos
Effectively a QD with a little bit of added LSP, so not an essential step but I'd recommend it anyway as it gives a great finish. Lightly mist a microfibre, wipe over a single panel at a time to spread a thin, even film of product. Refold the microfibre and buff.
Prime allows cleans the paintwork fully to allow the Trigger to bond fully, so if you get this bit right your protection should last a couple of months. It's best to use the Glos after washes to top up the protection - I'd use this instead of a wax if you opt for the Acrylic kit, a wax just won't bond to this so you'll end up literally washing it away.
It depends which sealant you opt for regarding the use of a wax as well. Poorboys EX-P, for example, can be used with a wax on top to give both the finish of a wax and the beading - EX-P tends to sheet water rather than bead, a wax on top of it will give you both the beading and the finish that the wax offers as well as the protection of the sealant underneath.
Just for clarification, yes it's wax over (certain) sealant and a similar preparation routine is required to get similar durability out of EX-P as the Acrylic kit - i.e. wash, clay, prime (I've trialled Dodo Juice Prime Lime for the EX-P), sealant, optional wax.

Wheel dressing - Is it worth it? If so, what products?
Yes, use this, it'll make subsequent cleaning so much easier.
Wax - Nothing bought yet, however have heard great thinks about Finish Kares' FK100P - Although not sure on application...

Yes, it says; high pressure gas contained do not take apart, puncture, apply heat or fire.
