  1. It's to denote the difference between an FP1/2/3 service schedule and a P1/2/3 schedule.

    <18,000 miles per annum follows the P schedule.

    >18,000 miles per annum follows the FP schedule.

    I don't know off hand what the difference is between the two, but it's in the service book - I presume the P schedule is pages 18/19, the FP schedule is pages 20/21 - but I'm far too lazy to go and look. :p

    As far as I can remember they're both 9k intervals.

  2. I've used a few, including Dodo Juice and Autoglym from your list - I've also tried a cleaner wax but that's it from Zymol.

    I personally find the Autoglym stuff to be very similar to how you've described the Megs stuff. I do find some of their products useful and they give good results, but I prefer others.

    Dodo Juice products are nice to work with and give good results, but can be a little bit pricey compared to others that do as good as job (IMHO) and the waxes don't have the durability that I'd like.

    Which brings me to;

    I use meguiers and I find it's pretty good but my mates civic is always sparkling and looking a lot shinier than mine. He uses poorboys polish and wax and he swears by it. Il definetly be buying some when my meguiers runs out.

    I do like my Poorboys products. The Natty's paste waxes do what the Dodo Juice waxes do well but have lasted longer in my own experiences. And they're cheaper.

    I tend not to stick to one brand for every step either though, as above.

  3. Unfortunately square doesnt work for my plate!

    You have only got 5 letters on your plate? Mine is 5 letters and is on one line legally spaced and BS marked to.

    Sorry if I'm being dense here but doesn't that then defeat the purpose of a square plate if it's all on one line?

  4.

    That's the one I've got (minus the patio cleaner gubbins... and I paid more for it. :dry: ). Has currently outlasted two cars in the household and never let me down.

    Just to note, the "foam applicator" that comes with it is useless, you're much better off getting a dedicated foam lance as well, it's the Kew/Alto fitting you'll need for a Nilfisk.

  5. Go get a panel from the scrap yard and hone your skills before you go near your zed. :surrender:

    That.

    Although with the clay bar, if you stick to the Megs Quick Clay (which the likes of Halfrauds sell) you can't really go wrong to be honest. Definitely worth playing with a polisher on a scrap panel before going at your car with it though.

  6. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

    i would absolutely love the top one but alas, the running costs have put me off, servicing is stupid money and if anything goes wrong with it i would have to remortage the house!! LOL

    there is one on Autotrader for 29k that looks a pretty good deal.

    but mine is just as nice IMO!!!

    all will be revealed tonight once i have confirmation of the money situation. :thumbs:

    I can confirm that money exists. Now tell us. :boxing:

  7. 1. One of the things that makes my engine bay look tired is a lot of my bolts are oxidized or rusty, is there a way to clean these up or am i best just replacing them? If i do replace them all, what type of coating should be on the new bolts that i buy to stop them rusting/oxidizing?

    It might be possible to tidy them up but it'll take forever if you're doing a few. It would be easiest to replace with anodized bolts in a colour of your choice.

    2. My bottles are filthy (the window washer bottle etc), and they are looking kinda yellow, how can i get these back to their original colour?

    Either fine (1200 or so) wet and dry or paint them in a colour that matches/contrasts the pretty new bolts you've just bought.

    3. some other random steel bits are a bit rusty or oxidized (i.e The twisted metal bar that holds my pop charger to the engine bay). How can i get them back to being all clean and shiny?

    Metal polish, fine steel wool and some elbow grease. Or a machine polish if you have one.

    4. My pop charger heat shield is a bit messy, i scrubbed it a little with WD40 but it took the gold colour off it. Is this a special cotaing that the heatshield requires? Or can i go ahead and scrub the whole thing removing ALL the gold colour coating?

    I could hazard a guess at that one but it'd only be a guess, so I'll leave that one to someone who knows better than I.

  8. I reset mine after having it for four months, it was reading 23 (ish) when I reset it - mainly driving through town with the odd a/b road run. It was rest about 100 odd miles ago and it's currently reading... 23. Again. This being a 5 mile stop=start type drive into work and 15 mile A road drive home.

    I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I probably average about 23 mpg.

  9. Not me, surely you'd get more informed answers regarding a Scooby from a Scooby forum? :)

    Scoobynet is your best bet for advice on that one. You might even recognise some people over there. ;)

    Just to contrast what Zugara has said;

    I found my scoob was actually no worse than my Zed is around town (mid to low 20's mpg - I did manage to get that down to a single digit once on track though :scare: ). That said, mine very much wasn't brand new. :lol: If you're looking at Hawk Eyes, that shouldn't be an issue for you either (it not being brand new, rather than the mpg :stir: )

    I've not heard of fuel buggering up the ECU, but low RON fuel will munch the engine fairly efficiently unless mapped for it. It'll suffer from knock considerably more than a Zed would on low RON fuel, for example.

    The power delivery is quite raw (slightly more refined in a New Age than in the classics) and it's certainly not a GT car. It feels painfully slow until the turbo spools up and you get a big shove in the back as it comes alive. It needs more working of the gearbox for it to shift but it does just stick to the road. The Hawks are quite heavy compared to earlier Imprezas too. It's a completely different car to the Zed so I'd definitely recommend test driving one before making your mind up on them.

    Can't offer any insight into the others though as I've never had the pleasure, the only thing that leaps out is that the Elise would appear to be somewhat... less practical than the others you mention. :lol:

  10. I have run my Zed from 72k to well over 100k and it has NEVER had anything better than 97ron Sainsbury Super Unleaded in it. It has also had a fill up with 95 I think about 3 times in 2 years or so, and it did not spontaneously combust thankfully :surrender:

    You're lucky, the wheels fall off and the radio re-tunes itself if you do that four times! :scare:
