  1. +1 I'd LIKE to be rid of the PC's as they are far more complex than the Macs for no reason. But everyone is brought up (me included) on PC's ... so they "understand" them better. There is good reason - Windows and it's PCs has to be compatible with a far wider range of hardware, peripherals and software. Apple made a decision to make and supply both the hardware platform and OS as well as their own approved list of peripherals and software - this is clearly much easier to 1. keep stable and 2. charge a premium. FWIW I use and look after just over 200 PCs as my day job and use a 27" iMac at home (with Parallels and bootcamp Win7).
  2. A mixture of things or they just worked their way down the list until they stumbled across the knackered part? Trial and error...
  3. I think we can concede in the oil-burning diseasel stakes the cheese eating surrender monkeys can hold their own...
  4. Nice introduction. Another welcome from sunny Bristol.

  7. I've not done a track day at Combe. I've done airfield days, I'm a season ticket holder at CCC and I've been a passenger around CCC on a TD.
  8. Depending on work commitments, I have a pair of rear tyres that could do with finishing up in a blaze/haze of glory.

  11. Found the fecker: click! Bit of a hike but what the heck? I'm in!
  12. I've had a search and read the last few pages of the Tyre Guide above but it's still not clear to me. I'm getting a lot of road noise/roar at the moment but it has cheapo, no-name tyres fitted. The rears are getting close so it won't take much to use up the last couple of mms in a furious hour or two on an airfield or track. I gather the standard fitment should be 245/45R18 W (96) Bridgestone RE050A DZ - the DZ being important because that's the compound/fitment specifically for our 350Zs. Those who have complained about the Bridgestones, did you specify the DZ compound or accept the generic RE050A? The alternatives seem to be either Dunlop sport maxx or Falken-452 -current opinions would be appreciated.
  13. Because the asking price is pretty much top dollar, depending on service history and/or when next service is due, state of tyres, yada-yada, yada, I'd be offering £8,000 tops. BTW, the icarcheck service gives a pretty good ball-park figure - does it agree with the vendor's valuation?
  14. FWIW, if there is any doubt about service history I'd get a P3 or independent equivalent service pretty sharpish. This will cost between £300-400 according to my research so I'd use that as a haggling point with the vendor. Oops! Forgot - welcome.
  15. "Oi pot! You're black", said the kettle. Welcome. Some valid points there, but calling/thinking of fellow drivers as idiots is similar to the original complaint. I'm no angel but I do at least try to count to ten and smile when mistakes are made. Sometimes easier said than done so I can see where you're coming from though.
  16. I've had a search on slipping clutch and most seem to be at +60k miles. I fear mine may be slipping with 29,000 miles on the clock. Oddly, it seems to be intermittent - typically okay but on the odd occasion, when I've caught it by surprise, I'm pretty sure it's slipping. By surprise, I mean cruising at say 40-50mph in fifth or sixth and changing down to third to overtake, dropping the clutch and I get plenty of revs but a definite lag before drive picks up properly - IYSWIM. I've just seen a few threads suggesting pulling away in third as a quick and dirty test but I'm in the office so won't get a chance to try it till 1700. Is it feasible that a MY06 2007 car with less than 30,000 miles needs a clutch?
  17. Swiftcover. If it's good enough for Iggy, good enough for me.
  18. Beautiful. But I'll bet it was dirty 50 yards down the road.
