If you're going to those parts, I'd highly recommend diverting off the LA - San Fran - Vegas route that is done by 99% of tourists visiting the area and seeing some more 'real' America by going through at least Arizona (and Utah - Colorado if you have more time). Really good valid point, for the first week of our road trip we tried to stay off the main interstate roads and see the real America. For one example we were driving from Nashville to Mephis Via a small little town called Pulaski - Drove into the main city square and there was the yearly Turkey shoot Gala and a car show on. We started bimbling around all the various tents etc and people soon clocked on that we were British and were asked to meet the the Mayor of the town and if we wanted to be on the front of the local paper. There is lots more to that story and wont bore you with it but you get the idea that by going off road so to speak you come across such unexpected things.

Get use to those roads, plenty of those about and are truly awesome. Well your trip looks simliair to the last two weeks of our trip where we went via Dallas - Amarillio - Alburquerque - Flagstaff - Las Vegas/Grand Canyon - San Diego and LA. Tips, where does one start. All depends on what your looking for out there, anything goes in America Dallas, got to go to the grassy Knoll and ' X ' on the road where JFK was shot - Totally humbling experience. Sat on the grass for a good couple of hours taking it all in. Grand Canyon is must for obvious reasons and if you are feeling brave do the ' Skywalk '. Costs to get there though. Las Vegas - Mental oriental place. Have you decided which hotel your staying at? Do the gun range there as its the only place in America where your allowed to fire a fully automatic rifle. We went for the Iraq pack deal ( M249 Saw, Berretta, M16 rifle ) A must go to when your in Vegas is the old part of Vegas, go to Fremont Street. One of the biggest light shows, just found this clip on You tube . Thats just to name a few things to do, just totally depends what your going there for. I see your relativatley local to me so hopefully a Port Solent meet will happen soon and can catch up there Steve.

Awesome choice of car to drive in over the States Simon. Did a Road trip about a year and a half ago from East to West coast and we were desperate to have a convertible for the trip.... ended up with.... Really wish we had gone for a Mustang but the car was reliable and did us proud so cant complain! Though did see my very first 370Z in Hollywood:

  17. Spotted last Friday driving down City Road about 6 o'clock ish. Possible nismo kit, certainly had a rear spoiler.
