So i sold my 350z a few years ago now and i probably didn't realise how good a car it was at the time.
I've had a few cars since including my Z4 3.0si coupe, which is a bit small for me but an excellent all round sports car (apart from the runflats)!
I've been spending hours on end looking into my next car and narrowed it down to 3 cars.
E89 BMW Z4 35is M sport.
Porsche Cayman S.
Nissan 370z GT.
As I've had a few BMW's lately I'm put off with another, so although the 35is is a good car, I'm not going to bother. It's also very tight inside!
The Porsche Cayman is an awesome machine but the fear of something going wrong puts the fear of God into me and apparently there's a lot of problems that can occur! Add that to the initial cost of the car and its really putting me off.
The 370z is the best all rounder, take the cost of the road tax out of the equation and all of a sudden it's a great second hand buy.
I'm sure forum members will disagree regarding the cayman s but it's what I'm comfortable with.
I would rather have a 2011 370z with around 15000 miles with full service history in perfect condition than a 2006 Cayman S with high milage and crapping myself every time i heard a noise!
So I'm on the hunt!

It's slippy stuff when wet! You could easily fall of your motorbike if you hit a big one!
-
I wonder how many folk just pay these bloody things for an easy life.
The shop owner said to contact the company and provide proof of my purchases, but no way I'm contacting them!
-
It says that because Stuarty is in Scotland, none of the regular stuff applies.
Happy days!
-
that's exactly where it was Aidan, thanks for the advice!Dont pay it.
I take it the carpark was currys / pets at home one?
Got the same from them before. Ignore it. Dont reply. Dont even acknowlegde them
If you read it the letter says notice of payment - not a fine.
They will keep sending you letters upping the amount and it'll get to something like 180 quid. Still ignore it and they threaten county court stuff.
Again ignore it and then they offer to reduce the 180 quid to 150 quid if you pay it now.
Yet again, ignore them.
They will then go away.
Fortunately in Scotland the only people who can give you parking "fines" are plod and the council.
Hope this helps. :teeth:

Thanks for the replys. I was 13 minutes over there time and they want £90. It was a wednesday morning and there was about 10 other cars in a massive carpark.we were buying furniture which has a 6 week delivery time, so ive contacted the shop and threatened to cancel my 2k order!
-
I received a letter from a company called Highview. Apparently I overstayed my time in a car park in Livingstone a few weeks ago.
They sent me a "fine" which if paid straight away would be one amount but if i waited it would go up.
I ignored it and received a reminder today demanding the full amount.
Any advice welcome!

See!
Seriously, I wonder how many motorbike accidents are a result of hitting horse manure??
-
Deleted, lol.

Shits, @*!#!
As of today i am no longer a dog owner i now have 2 miniature pit ponies, let's see the authorities prove otherwise!
-
The Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003 states that it's a Public Health offence for any dog owner to allow their dog to foul in a public place and not pick it up and dispose of it in the proper manner.
Obviously their are a few exceptions such as guide dogs etc.
Really pisses me off that Police Scotland mounted branch are allowed to patrol up and down my street knowingly allowing their horses to @*!# all over the place!
If their on official duty fair enough, but if all their doing is exercising their horses they should be carrying a big shovel and bucket with them!

The £100k price tag dosen't include the rear spoiler!!
-
Bought my Z4 3.0si coupe from Infiniti Glasgow last August and had it back in yesterday to have a wee thing checked.
In the showroom they had a white Infiniti FX Vettel Edition and it was stunning. The carbon fibre is outstanding and i think Brabras designed it??
Apparently the rear spoiler is around £5k alone. I think it's priced at around £100k.
If I had of known that I wouldn't have been pressing all its buttons and sitting in every seat, lol.
Pictures don't do it justice, beautiful car in the flesh!

I had an insignia vxr for a day when my astra vxr was in for a service. It was ok but nothing special, felt like any other insignia but with a bit more power.

I've been looking at a lot of professional car detailers websites recently. I can understand why a detailer would charge more for a bmw 5 series than they would for say a mini and more for a A6 than a 370z.
But why would they charge more for a porsche cayman/911 etc than any other car?
-
Haha, typo!

No problems set aside a weekend for it, will take quite a while
When I get my car back I'll be polishing my hand!
I'll do every stage every 3 months.
Wash and wax every month
Wash every week!
-
Snowfoam
Rinse
Wash
Rinse
IronX
Rinse
Clay/De tar
Re wash
Dry
Polish
IPA wipe down or carpro oil cleanser
Wax
Cheers mate, much appreciated!
-
Personally I'd be avoiding the machine polish and the wax!
They really shouldnt apply any wax etc for 6-8 weeks to allow the paint to cure naturally. When paint cures it outgasses and this can cause "blooms" under any waxes etc.
Car paint when applied in the factory is cured in an oven at far higher temps than a body shop can replicate, mainly due to having an interior and stuff that would melt so needs time to harden fully.
Great advice!
He's only painting bumper and wing mirrors, so I'll ask him to leave the wax off them and just do the rest of the car.
Am i right in saying when I get round to doing a basic detail myself the stages are?
1) wash
2) prep (remove tar and contaminates with IPA)
3) Clay
4) polish
5) wax
Thanks.

Honestly it will be fine with just wax, its all i ever do when i machine polish a car. 2 coats of wax 24hrs in-between coats will last for months.
Cheers Russ, so just ask him what wax he used and give it another coat next day?
or just use the dodo juice you already have, wax is wax at the end of the day.
Cheers mate. I'm a sucker for reading into everything and paranoid I'm doing things correctly!

Yes
Could you recommend a sealer and final wax?
I've got Dodo juice supernatural hybrid, think its part sealer part wax. I've also got AG PDI paint and upholstery sealer kit.

When I had my zed with standard alloys i drove it and then drove NeilP's zed with rays or Nismo alloys (cant remember) and I couldn't believe how light his car felt!
Not sure if it was the alloys or all the suspension mods he had but felt really light compared to my car.
Summons in the post this morning
