  1. BMW makes some great cars and the 335s are aweason, but don't buy them on the basis of economy / money saving compared to the Z.

Never driven the 335D, but from what I've read they are not that much more ecnomical than the 335i. My 335i will happly do 35-40mpg on a M run if you stick the curise control on and stick to the speed limit....But than some random bit will break your have to pay £££ for to be replaced...I just spent £360 on an electicwater pump, and that with trying to source if cheap, buy it from BMW your looking at £440

Cannot complain too much though have spent far more on pointless mods  ....Regardless of how much you spend on mods though it'll still look like a 320D to 99% of the publics, which isnt a bad thing. Still with a nice set of wheels they don't look too bad compared to the current 1 series..

But as some one has already mentioned, dont buy one on the pretence of trying to save money....These were/are nearly £40K+ new when speced up, and don't have anywhere near the realibity of the Z so be prepared to part with some £££ to keep it on the road.

That's exactly the same wheels I'm looking for, are they CSL replica's?

  2. Overboost on newer turbo cars when marketed in the brochures it's basically either a switchable increase in boost pressure or a mapped increase of boost at a certain point depending on gear selection or revs.

That makes sense! Just noticed your forum name there. Lol.
  3. I wasn't sure where to post this but could someone explain what "over boost" is when referring to cars with turbo's.

The BMW Z4 35i e89 is twin turbo but the Z4 35is e89 is twin turbo but with over boost feature. Any help?

  4. So i bought my 350z middle of last summer and its been faultless I love it to bits! Love the styling and the way it drives. However ive accepted a job offer down in London and now thinking the Z might not be the most practical to move down there with :( As much as I love it I think its going to cost me a fortune in commuting and coming back up north every now and again to see friends / family.

Sooo ive been looking at 335d coupes. Now before you all grab the pitch forks and come looking for me, I never thought I would be tempted by a diesel but after looking at there statistics and reading reviews from previous petrol heads they are starting to look very tempting. 3.0l twin turbo lump are quick as stock but with a simple remap and DPF delete takes them to 350-370 bhp and a whopping 700mn torque! And owners still claim to achieve up to 50mpg on longer runs!

I do agree every man and his dog has a 3 series but out of them all i do actually like the styling of the e92 coupe and the 335 rear end. Anyone have any experience with these? Or care to share an opinion?

Hi mate, I've had a few BMW's recently and enjoy driving them. My nephew has a 335d m sport. His came remapped but I'm sure he had another company come out and put a different map on it. I bought a brand new E92 in 2012, if your budget stretches buy a sport plus edition as they come fully loaded. It's basically an m sport with every extra on it, including m3 boot spoiler and bmw connected drive. Also the xenons and day light running lights are awesome. You can down load an app for your mobile that allows you do locate your car and unlock it etc. one last thing, forget the 50mpg!! My nephew isn't a boy racer and he only gets around 28-35 mpg.

  6. I bought a 50inch Panasonic viera LED last december and love it. I'm glad i took everyone on here's advice at the time and avoided smart and 3D functions and just bought the best tv for the money.

Good man, now how about taking our advice when it comes to choosing a new car :stir:

    Sent from the golf club...

Lol, good point! Thinking about a Cayman S, 370z and a M135i just now. TBH 350z is probably best car I've had!

  7. Ive got both an iPad 4 and iPad mini. Both sit side by side at home and 99% of the time i pick the iPad mini up. Think its due to the ergonomics of the mini.

Ipad 4 has a better screen, but for what i use it for the mini is great. Also i really don't see the difference between my iPad 4 and my old iPad 2 it replaced. Ive recently started using my samsung netbook for Uni work and i find it really slow and awkward compared to the iPads. My wife finds the iPad 4 a bit heavy and its too large for her to comfortably hold, so i really only use it when she's using the mini.

  8. as for the wax, give autoglym HD wax a go, i find it brilliant stuff, miles better than dodo juice supernatural in every way

Yeah i go between those both. AG HD wax and the HD cleanser work well together after SRP!

  9. Thanks for the replys, i'm going to order some stuff when i get home. BTW its Dodo Juice super natural hybrid that ive got just now. Just want to try something different.

If you're interested in trying different products, have a look for the WaxyBox thread on here, it's about £10 per month (as and when you want to do it, not subscription) and they send you sample products.

Yeah i ordered a few at the start!

  10. Hi, we have 2 Lhasa Apso's. Both have great nature's and are 4 years old. The oldest of the 2 (millie)loves to bark anytime anyone comes near the house. The other one (poppy) never barks. My vet said Millie barks because we got her first and Poppy knows barking is Millie's job??

Anyway its great that she lets us know if someone is around but not a 3am when its our 21 year old son coming home from a night out. I know i cant pick and choose when she barks but she know's fine well its our son coming home, lol.

  11. Hi, i'm currently using a mixture of Autoglym and Dodo juice products but i'm looking to buy some new stuff soon.

Can anyone recommend individual products that they rate highly and don't cost the earth? What i need is listed below.

    1) Car bodywork shampoo

    2) Polish

    3) Paintwork sealer

    4) Wax

    5) Wheel cleaner (really mild)

    6) Tyre dressing

    7) Leather cleaner/conditioner

    8) Car mat shampoo

    9) Glass cleaner

    10) Engine bay dresser

    11) Paintwork tar/ contaminant remover

    Thanks in advance!

  12. I currently have a BMW Z4 3.0si coupe. There is a sound generator mod that a lot of folk try. Basically there is a plastic pipe that runs from the air intake box to the bulk head, just underneath the glove box. Th plastic pipe has 2 pieces of foam inserted, one at the air box side and another in the bulkhead side.

The mod basically involves removing one or both pieces of foam, depending on how much induction noise you want transferred inside the drivers cabin. The foam acts as an acoustic barrier but allows a bit of induction noise through, removing the foam increases the induction noise inside the cabin.

Not all Z4's have the sound generator fitted as standard but i'm sure it can be retrofitted. Also this mod does not increase induction noise outside the car, it only applies to inside. I think BMW's sound proofing is pretty good at reducing engine noise inside the cabin, but this mod is more suited to folk wishing to hear more of there straight 6.

Finally, i have read recently that BMW, along with other manufacturers are fitting devices that emit a sound recording to enhance the engine note of there car but i see this as totally artificial and not to my liking, whereas the sound generator mod that can be applied to my car is simply allowing more of my engine's noise pass through the sound proofing.

    Hope this makes sence!

  13. Whats your thoughts on the PDK?

It's an excellent piece of kit, it really is. Left in auto it'll get to 7th quick as, and return great MPG. Pop it into Sport auto (where I tend to leave it) and it's absolutely perfect, never caught out on gear and adapts all the time if you're pressing on or pootling. Sport Plus is just mental for the road and best left for the track, however Sport Plus and manual mode gives lightning-fast changes with the little thump in the back at WOT, and is how I drive the car when on a blat.

It can be a bit clunky on the very first 1-2 shift on a cold morning, but then the oil is stone cold so to be expected. Other than that, it's flawless. It's even quicker on the 9x1 cars.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of selling the wife's mini cooper that my son drives and giving them my z4 coupe. Then buying a cayman!

  14. It's an OPC, what were you expecting? Discounts across the board?!

They're worth every penny. IMHO, of course. You don't really need the S, the 2.7 has more than enough grunt and a lovely sweet engine. Hold off on the options unless you desperately want them and you won't find a better car for the money  If a 981 is out of reach, see if you can find a 987 R as they're sublime.

Whats your thoughts on the PDK?

  15. Go with what your heart tells you. Because you don't have to commute your saving money every week on fuel. I always though when i sold my zed i would buy another one in the future but i don't think i ever would now. Only because theres so many other cars i'd love to own. Only you know what to do, but from personal experience, once the doubts start, its only a matter of time before i change.

    Good luck.

  16. Went to Porsche Glasgow today to have a close look at the Cayman. £62k for a brand new Cayman s with PDK. £56k for a demonstrator with 3000 miles on the clock. Absolutely stunning machine but cant justify that price tag imo!

Really cant see why it would cost double the price of a new 370z. Anyway all there cars are 30% more expensive than anywhere else.
