Why? I have two that don't keep me busy and make nearly enough money! -
RE: An 84-year-old woman who bought her Powerball ticket after another customer let her get ahead in line came forward Wednesday to claim the $590 million jackpot, becoming the largest sole lottery winner in the history of American lotteries. The woman, Gloria C. Mackenzie of Zephyrhills, took a lump sum payment of just over $370 million, Florida Lottery officials said. After paying 25 percent for federal income taxes, she is taking home about $270 million, officials said. Dear Aunty Gloria (that's her name), you don't know me, but I do know you. I'm your far, far, faaar away Eastern European nephew. I was going to get in contact with you last month, but I was busy with the Wales 2013 meet. I hope you are very well! How are you, anyway? Listen, I hate to do this, but me and my buddy Ian, also known as Wasso the Polishing Guy desperately need some help. We were recently been diagnosed with a very rare and incurable form of Obsessive Buying Disorder and we were going to try a very pioneering form of treatment that may have good results, it's still in the lab, but we volunteered to try it. It's a unorthodox alternative method, but with no major risks of complications and it involves spending a final lump sum of money, each on one thing: a ultimate BBK made by Greddy for me and a LSA engine+gearbox for my buddy Wasso. Can you please help at all? We only need about $6.000 for my brakes and $25.000 for Wasso's LSA project. Make it $30.000 and we can source the remaining amount from close family here in the UK, do not worry too much about that! I hate to do this since I don't know you very well, but I promised I will stay away and never contact you again, unless you want me to. Like buying my GTR 2013 version or something. I also promise it's nothing to do with your recently won prize, the biggest in the entire USA lottery history. P.S. If you get a simillar letter from a green looking fellow called Keyser, please disregard it, he is not related to you at all, in fact, he's not even Eastern European, you know? Yours sincerely, Adrian

Interesting... ======= On 5th February 2013, in the Patents County Court, London, England, His Honour Judge Birss QC handed down his Judgement in the case of AP Racing Limited vs Alcon Components Limited, case no CC11P3805. (11/02/13) The case concerned claims by AP Racing against Alcon of infringement of AP Racing’s patents GB 2 451 690 and EP (UK) 2 022 999. These patents relate to opposed piston brake calipers such as those presently being sold by the parties for use in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. This includes calipers designed by Alcon and marketed by Brake Parts Inc. under the Raybestos brand with part references PC1106, PC1108, PC1109, PC1110, PC1111, PC1112, and PC1113. The Judge ruled that EP (UK) 2 022 999 be revoked, and that GB 2 451 690 is invalid. The Judgement may be found here In a subsequent ruling, the Judge also ordered AP Racing to pay costs to Alcon. ======= -

2. Transfăgărășan The Transfăgărășan (trans (over, across) + Făgăraș) or DN7C is the second-highest paved road in Romania. Built as a strategic military route, the 90 km of twists and turns run north to south across the tallest sections of the Southern Carpathians, between the highest peak in the country, Moldoveanu, and the second highest, Negoiu. The road connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia, and the cities of Sibiu and Pitești. The road was constructed between 1970 and 1974, during the rule of Nicolae Ceaușescu. It came as a response to the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union. Ceaușescu wanted to ensure quick military access across the mountains in the event the Soviets attempted a similar move into Romania. Consequently, the road was built mainly with military forces, at a high cost both financially and from a human standpoint—roughly 6 million kilograms of dynamite were used on the northern face, and the official records mention that about 40 soldiers lost their lives in building accidents.

Holly thread revival after a chat with Wasso about routes in Romania. Transalpina The Transalpina or DN67C located in the Parâng Mountains group, in the Southern Carpathians of Romania, is one of the roads of the Carpathian Mountains. It connects Novaci, south of Parâng Mountains, to Sebeş in the north. It is said that the road was built under King Carol II and rebuilt during World War II by German troops and it is called The King's Road by the locals. Also a story has it that Nicolae Ceauşescu had the Transfăgărăşan Road (DN7C) built during the communist regime just to surpass the Transalpina. The road has its highest point at the Urdele Pass, where the elevation is 2,145m above sea level. Given the high altitude, the road is closed during the cold months of the year. Works began in 2007 in order to transform this spectacular road into a modern highway (148 km), allowing a rapid transit between Oltenia and Transylvania. Rânca, a newly developed resort, is located towards the south end of the Transalpina road.
