  1. Thanks for the reply but I'm after OEM style ones as I prefer the look.
  2. I am after a front and rear set of OEM mud flaps for my 2008 350Z - not bothered what colour. Let me know if you have any for sale
  3. Bit of a thread resurrection here but my throttle pedal is behaving a bit randomly so I thought I would try the reset procedures (not ECU reset) - after loads of searching and reading the Technosquare guide at http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm I can't for the life of me figure out: On/Off on ignition - I take "on" to mean the last position before cranking, dash illumination on etc, and "off" to be completely off (position 0) The closed position learning - the directions seem to suggest just turning the ignition on and leaving it for 10 seconds? I can't hear any "operating sound" when doing so. Apologies for probably stupid questions but it is doing my head in!
  4. As everyone else has said with later 350s the registration year seems to have little relation to the engine you get - when looking around I have seen 07 plate cars with the HR engine and like yours 09 plates with the DE. I couldn't tell a massive difference between the MY06 and MY07 cars but the latter seem to rev a bit more freely.
  5. Great pics! I would imagine at 33mpg aveage, you were easy doing over 400 miles between fill ups? I tended to fill up when the tank got below about a third full/when I was near a cheap petrol station, but I would have easily got over 500 miles to the tank going by the DTE meter. Basically ensuring that I would never have to fill up on the motorway (1.69 EUR + for Super). For the Telepeage I have a French speaking wife so it was pretty easy However there are guides on various forums on how to apply for one via the website so you don't need to understand the language completely.
  6. A few road trip threads have appeared recently so I thought I would add mine, which me and the Mrs enjoyed very much indeed. 3000 miles round trip over 2 weeks - Calais, Verdun, Kientzheim (Alsace), Beaune (Burgundy), Le Touvet (French Alps, 5 days with the in laws), Carcassonne (Languedoc-Rousillon), Fromental (Limousin), Azay le Rideau (Loire), Saint-Seans (Normandy) and back to Calais (I may have some of the department names wrong!). Did 2947 miles all in at 29.4MPG which was pretty surprising, and petrol is nowhere near as expensive as the BBC reported the week before I left at about £1.38 per litre for 98RON. Alsace/Vosges was the highlight and I will definitely go back, the bit in the Alps was also great fun and I finally got what all the fuss about mountain passes is about with a bit of power under the right foot, the gravel tended to kick the traction control in quite a lot however. Only got to see a bit of the Pyrenees before clouds descended. Saw a total of 3 Zeds, one 370 in the hotel car park on the first night, then black and orange 350s in the south. The French don't seem to go much on performance cars and kept staring at mine as if it were some kind of alien craft. The Abarth cars, planes, tractors, fire engines and bikes pictured below were all in one chateau and its grounds owned by an eccentric and loaded chap, which also made some very good wine (it was as if someone asked Jeremy Clarkson to design a museum apart from the being in France part). Vosges/Alsace: Mad museum: Rotary bike! French Alps Med: Pyrenees: Carcassonne: Limousin: Nice castle at Chenanceaux: Some very beautiful scenery and the Z makes a very effective tourer with loads of power when needed and nice comfy seats and cruise control. I was pleasantly surprised by the range when on the long motorway drives with the decent fuel economy (33MPG on the motorways @ 75MPH) and big fuel tank. To anyone doing similar and with plans of doing it again, I would strongly recommend investing in a Telepeage device which deals with all of the toll booths automatically and bills you at the end of the month via direct debit. I think it cost me about £20 and no monthly fees etc. Saves much hassle with tickets/scuffed alloys/annoyed spouses etc. I got this one but there may be better ones now, many forums etc dedicated to it: http://www.aprr.fr/fr/souscrire_telepeage_liber_t We managed to fit a good amount in the boot with some extra stuff put in with the spare wheel, and the bit between tonneau and front was handy for cool bags/jackets/random stuff. Only annoying bit was the road noise but it wasn't too bad, going through their tiny narrow villages with the windows down really does show up how much racket the transmission makes however.
  7. I just got back from a 3000 mile trip around France, car did 29.5mpg over the trip with lots of motorways and a fair amount of hooning and fuel cost an average of 1.52 euro/l for super (about £1.38). Buy at supermarkets and it's not too bad.
  8. If you press the roof handle in firmly does the light go out?
  9. I'm in france at the moment having almost completed a bit of a road trip over the past couple of weeks and can confirm that the fuel price listed above (by the AA I think) is much higher than it actually is - I have paid a maximum of 1.53 euro for super unleaded but I use supermarkets. I have seen i up to 1.72 on the autoroute so make sure you fill up before you get on one of those!
  10. The 57 plate /40K miles roadster that I briefly had in Feb had the same issue - the thin bit of metal that holds the fabric down had pulled free of the rivets at both ends like yours had. The dealer tried to fix it but after trying to lower the roof a couple of times it had started to pull free again (shortly before it pulled completely free it would make the clunk at the end, and eventually wouldn't retract fully at all). I ended up giving the car back and the dealer didn't put up any kind of fight which suggests it may have been an expensive problem to properly fix and the car was punted out to auction in the end, but just to let you know it isn't a unique problem!
  11. Protyre in Fareham will fit tyres that you supply so they might do it for brakes as well - give em a call and see what they say.
  12. Edit - ignore, totally misread post!
  13. I changed my RX-8 to a 350Z 313 in Feb and I get much better fuel economy in the Z, as has been stated (26mpg vs 19mpg in similar use). The 8 was brilliant, and its thirst means you can now buy them for peanuts and spend the cost difference between it and a "frugal" car on petrol and still be up on the deal (assuming the engine is OK).
  14. The "Petrol will never get cheaper" thing is repeated often but history proves this to be false. Remember in 2008 when it hit £1.30/l then dropped to 85p/l within about 5 months, then took the best part of 3 years to get to where we are now. There are loads of factors that control the price of petrol, none of which most drivers can do anything about, so they tend to look at the current prices and panic, trade in their cars for a diesel shoebox, and ignore the fact that extra few K that the diesel cost could have fuelled their old car for several years.
  15. Getting the stereo connectors out was the most difficult bit for me, those little clips are a right sod.
  16. I purchased a PAC ROEMNIS2 harness for my Z and then decided to keep the Bose and use the line in mod instead. It is used to connect an aftermarket head unit to the Bose while allowing the correct volume level to be set. It's brand new and unopened. I am looking for £45 delivered.
  17. I'm not around for the Port Solent meet but will try to make the next one Gave the Zed a bit of a clean today (pics on first post), really think those orange reflectors need to go....
  18. Something like this: http://www.keene.co.uk/electronic/unbra ... LD26X.html Or this: http://www.keene.co.uk/electronic/unbra ... -cable-(5m)/KLD41.html In both cases you would need to chop the male phonos off and solder that end to the Bose.
  19. I'm Mike from Southampton - originally bought a 2007 roadster in Feb this year but had to give it back to the dealer when some fairly serious roof issues arose and they couldn't/wouldn't fix it. I knew it was too cheap. I am back now in a very similar silver 2008 313 GT coupe, which is in much better condition all round, has done less miles and has a few little extras (kick plates, parking sensors) to which I have added the aux in mod with iPhone charging + line in, plush boot mat, OEM tonneau and just now the Nismo shift knob I originally bought for the roadster. I was planning to avoid mods after having a comprehensively kitted RX-8 previously, so will probably just do the exhaust (Scorpion is winning at the moment). This is however likely to change Edit - took a couple of pics today after a bit of a clean + wax:
  20. For number 3, I think that the left hand side appears to sit slightly higher than the right due to the design of the centre panel. At least my one does and there are no gaps in the trim.
  21. If anyone else struggles to remove the stock knob as I did, I found that a strap wrench to grip the knob and mole grips to grip the rubber bit around the shift lever worked great and didn't damage the original knob at all.
  22. I found this post very useful when doing the line in mod so thought I would add some extras I did for my iPhone. I purchased a cable which has a dock connector on one end, and two phono plugs and +12V and GND wires on the other end, with a little box in the middle to convert the power into 5V if required for the dock connector. This was pretty tricky to come by but I got one from a US seller on eBay in the end, cost about £15. I soldered the line in cable from the back of the Bose as per this mod onto one end of a ground loop isolator (eBay £8), then plugged the aforementioned dock/power cable's phono plugs into the other end. I then spliced the 12V accessory power wire and ground wire from the dock cable into the corresponding wires in the loom that connects to the sat nav control buttons (pins 1 and 7 on the attached diagram respectively). My reasoning for this is that all the wiring can be cable tied up and hidden behind the sat nav switches (fits very nicely) and is more easily accessible than stashing it behind/under the stereo. This will obviously not be possible if you don't have the OEM sat nav and you will need to use the ground and ACC power feeds as specified elsewhere on this forum. I then ran the dock connector out past the dash trim, up under the trim next to the driver knee pad, and connected it to a Brodit iPhone passthrough cradle secured to a Brodit Proclip. This gives me full access to my music on the iPhone just next to the steering wheel, and charges at the same time with no ground loop noise (there was a LOT of ground noise without the isolator in place). Will post up some pics later, any questions please ask, I take no responsibility for any damage caused by this post, and thanks to the OP for this thread!
