  1. just added a few things in red mate. i don't have grit guards either, just don't go to the bottom of the bucket and swirl the water too much and you'll be fine. As said, let the wax settle before adding the quick detailer, i usually leave it until the next day (12 hours ish). Oh and when you wax it i find it easier to use the mr miagi method of wax-on, wax-off for 2 panels at a time car rather than wax the whole car then buff the whole car, it just makes the wax easier to buff off. (e.g. wax the bonnet, then wax a front wing, then buff the bonnet, then the wing, and so on.) enjoy mate, it's a lot of work, but very satisfying when you're done.
  2. started off by giving it the snow-foam treatment then after 3 hours of washing/claying/cleaning/waxing these are the end results Ignore the time stamp on the camera, i used my dad's who has everything set to florida time, including his laptop!!! best not to ask One question i have though, has this car got spacers???
  3. yes i am this is my old one: brilliant little car
  4. well if they are as good as the 1.8 16v then, yeah, i'd have great fun in one. but i'm always open to the idea of something else.
  5. there are plenty of mk2 ph1 172s about for sub 2k. some ph2 172s even fall below 2k, i've been looking at them on pistonheads today. can even pick up the 172 exclusive of which only 172 were ever made for sub 2k if you look hard enough!
  6. I may have a small budget of £1500-2000 ish in a couple months and want something of my own (the Zed is my girlfriends). I have been looking for something like a clio 172 or maybe go back to my favorite car i've ever owned (Clio 1.8 16v) as i've had 3 of them and know them pretty well. the criteria are as follows: must be front wheel drive (my preference!) and good fun in the twisties. Must be cheap to insure (sub £650) (the 172 comes in at about that to give you a rough idea) not bothered about service history and all that as i will prob run it into the ground anyway as it'll be our everything car and keep the zed for weekends away and such got to give decent mpg i.e at least 30-35mpg comfortably. any ideas?
  7. You're a legend mate, that works a treat. Now I don't have to listen to that bloody cd player skipping all the time. Nice one.
  8. same problems with the forum displaying properly too. I'm now going to have to wait 'til i get back to work on monday to restore the ipod as i dont have a computer at home, just use my itouch! useless man, has put me off getting an iphone 4 now, oh well, i will hold out for a little longer! cheers all.
  9. Has anyone else got this??? Is bloody awful. My keyboard when typing is mega slow, I have to tap stuff twice to open links, it won't scroll properly, what's the deal here??? Is there anyway of reverting back to the old OS??? It's a new 32gb itouch by the way, so shouldn't have a problem incorporating the new software.
  10. I've just spent another £50 but i'm not spending anymore now, at least until september. I bought bulk stuff so it should last me. its the accessories that cost me the money. i bought a snow lance/pressure washer/alsorts of brushes/applicator pads/swabs/towels/drying cloths! it all adds up!
  11. Excellent, cheers mate. one question though, what quick detailer would you recommend??? i have ordered megs quik clay, should i use the quick detailer packaged in that for drying and lubing the clay, or some other combination?
  12. Just used these guys for a load of stuff. They worked out cheaper for what i wanted by a big chunk and free delivery to the UK, also arrived the next day. Everything well wrapped in bubblewrap and boxed up. great service all in all. www.theultimatefinish.co.uk
  13. Having just taken delivery of my pressure washer and snow foam lance/snow foam and taking into account the list mentioned. What should my detailing process be as i haven't actually had a proper go at it yet. thanks Michael.
  14. excellent mate, was going to research this this morning, now i dont have to. thanks

    350Z vs Z4

isn't there a video of VBH doing a lap in the zed and one in the z4 from fifth gear? the zedwins by like 4 seconds of something!
  16. I got some of the swirls out of the zeds paint using dodo juice lime prime. brilliant stuff.
  17. did they have totting back in the dark ages? What's totting?
  18. nope, just ordered one, missed it off the list hahaha got a microfibre one from monza car care. and i use the megs lock brush for the wheels too, brilliant little brush it is too.
  19. that looks like he let a 3 year old loose with an orange highlighter pen!!! he needs to be slapped with a wet fish!
  20. now that's not very nice we originally were looking for the azure blue, but they seemed to be out of our price range for a car with higher mileage, the gm one was a bargain at what we got it for so we are over the moon. never had a grey car before and always said i never would, but it doesnt half shine when it's clean! this was taken 2 weeks after i detailed it. I gave it a wash before popping to tesco for some beer, still looks i think, even on my crappy phone camera!!
  21. I agree, we still would have got beat, every break ze germans made looked like ending in another goal for them!
  22. Just spent the grand total of £306.13 on 'stuff to clean the car with'. Although, that does includ a pressure washer and snow foam lance which knocks it down by just over £100! even so, £200 on cleaning products! My kit now contains: Karcher pressure washer Snow foam lance 5l snow foam megs detailing brush dodo juice swabs 4l megs all purpose cleaner dodo juice lime prime dodo juice red mist dodo juice mellow yellow wheel cleaner dodo juice metal polish megs water magnet drying towel some other drying towel which will be used for the wheels tons of microfibre cloths about half a dozen applicator pads megs wax (cant remember which one) megs wash mitt couple of buckets megs car shampoo rain-x and some spray bottles!!! My girlfriend is gonna kill me! hopefully though most of that should last a good while. didnt realise there was so much choice available! not good for a spend-a-holic like me! wouldn't care, but it isn't even my car Is there anything i am missing from my list, i hope not!
  23. cant access youtube at work, but i'm listening to David Gilmour, Live in Gdansk. Fooking brilliant album.
