  1. just looked for the recipt and found it but there is no date on it. car was written off on the 24th of Aug 2007 i purchased it myself on like the 1st or there abouts of september 2007
  2. maybe, but then why bother insisting on recorded delivery. he could just claim it never arrived and claim his money back that way? seems an unnecessary step in the "con" to me** **mind you i just found out that my car i have owned for the last 3 years may be a cat C write off from before i bought it so maybe i am too trusting!
  3. agreed, if anything recorded is better than NOT recorded i would say. more likely he is unlucky enough to live near a 5 finger discount type postal worker.
  4. (trying not to swear) It seems (i bloody well hope so anyway) that, who ever it is, insurance company or DVLA wrote off my NEW fiat coupe by mistake instead of my old yellow one!. just had a phone call from the garage taking my car as trade in saying we do not deal with write offs and was pretty miffed i did not tell him about it. i am sure i did a HPI check on the car (but no idea how i prove that now) and it was clear, so i stood my ground. so he dissappeared for 20 mins, phoned me back and said it MAY be that they got the wrong car written off. looking at the car history, my red coupe which was written off in august 07 magically transforms into a yellow fiat coupe when you look further back, so it seems, they were so slow updating their records, that by the time they came around to writing off the car, my new cherished plate was on the new car and they wrote the wrong car off. AGH! luckily the trader has said it should be cleared up tomorrow, and in the mean time he will hold onto the 350z for me whilst it is sorted hopefully it will all be put straight tomorrow, so a nervous night tonight. otherwise i was royally ripped off when i bought my car and i will struggle selling it .
  5. lol i AM excited, just a slight worry. Matt is not in work today, only his colleague, and he did say someone made an offer on the car last night (but was under asking) Matt promised to contact his partner to reserve it for me, and then to phone me back after for me to give deposit details. only thing is, i haven't heard back yet, how unlucky would it be if it had sold this morning !!!??? (on top of that, today of all days i left my wallet at home, so i realise i cannot leave a deposit until 6pm tonight anyway, though hopefully he will trust me in good faith) Not sold mine, but Prestige Performance offered me 3k trade in for it, which makes my life easy, drive up in the coupe, drive back in the Zed
  6. should be putting a refundable deposit on this car later today... so he will hold onto the car till sunday - i get a full refund if i turn up but do not like the car, but lose it if i no show could not get him to budge on price, his argument (which has some merit) being he is offering me 3k trade in on a fiat coupe with tired turbo which is over and above its value. according to spies from here it is a good example however, and the mileage is excellent. fingers crossed i will own a 350z sunday afternoon to home in. just need to wait for him to phone me back to take my deposit
  7. agreed a 250 quid deposit to hold this car for me till sunday when i go to pick up. it is refundable as long as i turn up, so if i happen not to like the car it is ok. (am sure i will thanks to it being checked out already by Mitch AND the seller forgot to put on the add it has reverse parking sensors as well) From a quite excited Mike
  8. will this have an effect on the 04 and 05 cars (aint they 255 quid at the moment, so would make them MORE expensive than the newer, higher performance cars) or am i talking arse? good news tho!. edit... ignore.. ................. should have read properly, so it is for older import cars it effects not new cars. oh well....
  9. i am interested in a Z myself actaully which i have been warned has *slight* clicking from the axel, however the seller assures me after speaking to nissan, whilst they will not cover it under warranty any more, so long as it is not annoying it isnt actually a problem. would you guys agree with this, or is it just likely to get worse and worse? cheers and hope the OP does not mind my posting
  10. Thanks so much Michelle for going to look at the car for me. i have had a mail from the seller... sadly he has said he doesnt really want my car as trade in, so is not budging on the price. if my coupe sells privately tomorrow i will be in a better position to bargain..... much appreciated however
  11. wow i think you have my dream car there Steve do you have a for-sale thread? only snag may be out of my price bracket. also, its 06? does it squeeze in on the lower tax or not? any inside pics? (GT? Satnav? parking sensors?) edit just noticed, LED lights too.... very nice!. taa
  12. just started hunting for quotes, fiat coupe insurance runs out on 21st of this month, but i am replacing anyway hopefully with a 350Z early days yet quotes wise but i had to start somehwere fiat coupe 20VT plus, valued at 3.5k with £400 excess quoted best £770 so far nissan 350z valued at 12k with £400 excess quoted best £660 so far. fiat coupe standard 20VT plus 220bph 350z standard GT 276bhp do they spin some blooming wheel to randomly make up these quotes???? tried compare the market which was meh! with best qoute of £580 not protected NCB and £500 excess direct line *** winning so far woth £660 protected £400 excess Swinton (erm not so good, wanted £1200 and that is NOT protected like direct line) i shall continue with the forum favorites tomorrow to try to get lower.
  13. ahh so technically a true GT should have the rays is that correct? if so defo use for bargaining!. cheers
  14. if the azure one in yorkshire does not pan out, i may try to look at at #148/176 (yellow) anyone on here had the pleasure of owning it?
  15. Is that really a show stopper? i am more concerned with poor mechanicals, a stuffed clutch, bad repair after accident and a load of parking dings and stone chips. i must admit i do not mind the "standard" alloys on the GT.
  16. Hi thanks for your thoughts..... Am i right in saying tho that once the ball is rolling, the car is technically unsellable until the new documents are in place and the number plate is retained? i just looked at the DVLA site and it looks like with the V317 form it is fairly simple for the new owner to transfer the plate onto what would be my new vehicle, or does it not work like that? thanks again M.
  17. Hi folks.... As you may have noticed in other threads, i am very close to buying a 350Z. I have also had some possible interest in my fiat coupe, but it has a private plate on it. I would rather sell privately as 1) it gives me more buying power, a trader would rather have money than a trade in 2) means i can walk away from the trader if i do not like the Z he is selling and, buy privately 3) (minor thing) i am confident in my car aside from turbo so would like to keep it in the coupe fold. If i sell the car privately to someone on the coupe owners forum, is it easy to take a private plate off the car AFTER the sale and keep the plate in my name - so a buyer drives away in the car and then starts the ball rolling on the plate retention, or would that cause all sorts of issues with the plate no longer beign owned by me?. clearly i do not want a potential buyer to look at my car, say, "yes i will have it", i then go, over stretch myself buying a Z NOT trading in the coupe, and then the coupe buyer back out and i end up stuck with 2 cars and a big debt. I cant believe i am the 1st (or the last) person in this quandry thanks for reading M.
  18. Mitch that would be amazing mate.... There would be a beer in it for you if you give it the green light and i come up and get it If you can do it if you could let me know when it may be convenient as i can then maybe sort out going to actually buy it on sunday perhaps. cheers M. Stew, thanks for the edit mate
  19. Hi I am new to here however have been looking for a 350Z. one of the mods suggested if i saw one i was interested in, but was not local, it could be somoene who IS local may be interested in going and having a look at it and reporting back. well, if anyone *happened* to be around near prestige performance in Selby i would be much obliged if you could pass me your thoughts on this car http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1589207.htm i keep looking at cars, and keep coming back to this one....... surely @ only 29k there cannot be *that* much wrong with it, and, so i just have to hope its not been in a prang or something. i would be traveling for 4 hours to get to it, so would be gutted to get there and it be a dog (or even if it is basically a good car but need a little touching up, but if am there i would not be able to get that sorted as its not like i could pop back..... at least if a local looked at it, they could make a note of any issues and i could insist they get fixed., No worries if no one fancies it, i just thought i would ask I may be in peterborough on Sat which is 1/3 of the way there, so i could pop up from there on sunday morning. i have been offered a reasonable trade in for my fiat coupe as well which means not have the hassle of selling. cheers M.
  20. ended up NOT going to look at the car, had to go into cambridge, however whilst there i went to marshals and they had one in to look at. after 30 mins of waiting for the sales man (drooling over a stunning new GTR @ 60k and a gorgeous 370Z limited edition for 32K) he got the car out and put on the plates only to realise it had no fuel in and they guy with the fuel card was not in so could not get any (was a little annoyed at over 1hr of waiting by the end of it, one of em would not put in 10 quid fuel and claim it back). still i have now sat in my 1st 350Z. thoughts are. really comfy, nice and roomy. Stupid support bar in the boot - which is moved in the 370z and is far better. engine sounds so good.... but I was disappointed that some of the final finishings are a bit cheap. the plastic around the boot etc is a very cheap feeling plastic, was dissapointed that the silver finishings were mostly plastic - i thought it was aluminium - ie like the silver 350Z plaque on the boot strut. All in all, Japanese interior has improved a LOT since the R33 skyline and the toyota supra/celica of that era. interior of the 370Z (black edition at least) or the 60K GTR is simply stunning. the 350 is somewhere in the middle imo, much better than older Jap cars but not as good as the new ones. so all in all i am left feeling undecided. I was hoping the boot would be big enough for a large suitcase and a travel bag, but i doubt there is much chance, and the final finishings are good but not great. BUT i still love the look of the car, and it sounds so good. Still need to drive one tho....
  21. in an hour or so... (sorry was not sure which forum to put this on) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... 358449107/ milage a little higher than i had hoped but its not too far away and have to start somewhere. Does anyone know this car, or any thoughts cheers
  22. oh yeah, i see it now thanks..... DOH! if i do decide to go for one a little trek away, i would definitely get a local to go have a look if they did not mind. there would of course be a beer (/shandy/coke )in it for them after i had bagged the car. just had the ok from the bank, no lead time on getting cash from my ISA so i have 8k of funds available, and will just have to over draft any other money
  23. Thanks for this suggestion, however where abouts is the search button on this site? i cant find it! PS spotted a very similar one, private sale for 10.5k which i may have to go and have a look at. just finding out if it is a uk car or an import. cheers M.
