  1. Short of an Itrader style system I can't see much point in anything else. I reckon it would only create more work for the mods to police compliment threads, and still at the end of the day what's really wrong with posting that your happy about a product and receiving a discussion on it? 'I got new brakes fitted by such and such and it was a great service' 'that's nice to know, so how are you finding them?' blah blah. For the sake of a few post's a week, perhaps the grumpy bears could just ignore them?

  2. I did a quick calculation of his before overhead income (very very sad i know but it interested me)

    52 weeks in a year.

average person takes maybe combined 5 weeks holiday a year (bank hollidays, christmas etc)

    leaving 47 weeks * 5 working days= 235 working days

average person works 8 hours (excluding lunch) but seeing as he lives at home and obviously has a bit of OCD i said 10

    235 days * 10 hours working day = 2350 hours

    250 hours per car = 2350 / 250 = 9 cars a year * average of £7,000/car = £63,000 per year

you have to factor in his set up costs - converting his garage, the top quality tiles, the first purchase of the massively expensive cleaning products

then yearly overheads - electricity, refills of the products (or import taxes if the refil is free) and the replacements of all the clothes etc he must go through

It also assumes that he has a car booked in every 5 weeks and doesn't work weekends (but the holliday weeks can be taken as part of the down time between jobs

so its very sad that this actually interested me and is probably fairly off the actual figure but it did :bangin::shrug: plus i'm in a different country to both the wife and car :bounce:

He would probably take in more if he was based on a busy high street, washing drive in cars for 5 quid a pop and had a couple of guys working for him :p

  3. Agree totally bud... Sometimes it feels electric and I love it..

Currently im feeling a bit bored with the car, can't afford any mods... want to do loads of things with it, fancy new wheels etc... things need fixing

It will prob change after a good clean etc and a good run out but at the moment ive lost the buzz a bit

I get that sometimes too, but if I go watch fast and furious, or go to a car show, I usually come away thinking how good my car is and with a check list of everything I want to do :p try it!

  4. Agree with all of H5 comments. For those saying "Oh don't put more weight in the car" lets put this into proportion. The weight you are putting into the car is a FRACTION of the weight of a person. I presume none of you ever take a passenger because that will really screw with the performance!

Spend your money on quality equiptment and get those doors sound-deadened as the metal is fairly flimsy. I was amased how soft they were and what a difference dynamating them made. Spen the money on front speakers. Don't worry about the rear ones for now. You will get a much better sound by getting good front speakers than agerage in front & back.

Doing the doors, boot, and cavity can easily add 50+kg to the car, that's going on an estimate of 20 odd sheets of it. So its the weight of an extra female in the car, but then you have the added weight of the passenger as well if you carry one, which all adds up to extra weight in an already heavy sports car. I'm not arguing that the odd sheet on the door's is bad.

It's just extra weight that will probably be disregarded in a few months when folk are looking at exhausts and air filters to scrape a couple bhp back because their cars too slow.

Going by the stats of letstorquebhp.com, the 350z weight is 1525kg, adding 50kg will reduce your bhp/ton from 183bhp to 178bhp.

Small difference sure, but it's not insignificant on a sports car.

  5. Is it not also just important to actually set your system up properly? I believe ikarus (i think) posted before regarding downloading a frequency sound CD from the internet and tweaking your system to the right levels in order to actually get the best out of it?

Like you say dblock, I've seen lots of nice expensive set up's but some of them have sounded crap because the owners think you just wire it up and blair away.

  6. Lovely video, Ayrtons foot work is awesome.

Shame he thrashes it from cold and can't find 3rd gear

Yeah I bet you could have shown him a thing or two..

  7. ridiculous. looks no different to any other average joe who knows a few things about detailing.

Thing that really pi**es me off is people who read a thing or 2 on a detailing forum, do half a car, and then think there the best pro out there, and try advertise for business. i know of a few couple of people who actually detail cars occasionally yet they get someone else to do there own? If your not confident enough to do your own car dont work on others.

Anyway, if you want a good detail. avoid 7k washes, all a big con. just get well known company to do it for the usual going rate of 500 - 600

If he actually does take 250 hours to remove all the microscopic scratches and charges £7000 for it, then he's only making £28 per hour for a job he might only get every couple of weeks, or month. Plus the cost of 5 grand waxes etc, maybe it's not that lucrative?

  8. Can't stand the things myself.

Tell him to get a Delta Integrale. That is a car with real rally class. It'll breakdown constantly of course but who cares.

    Bradders

    Now your talking.

  9. Love the NSX, but that video was a pile of crap. Just tried to be too arty farty. Violins Pianist and a douchebag in a suit? just show me the damn car!

Here's a vid of 2 legends and ones driving the other!

  10. Dynamat? 350z is heavy enough mate

Then no point putting decent equipment in..... ;)

People make the car far heavier with modified wheels / brakes / exhausts / rubbish than a couple of rolls of Dynamat will.... :)

Couple of rolls id understand, but I've seen people coat the entire inner shell with it!
