  1. When folk buy mac's its not because they are weighing up the options mate, it's because they want that iconic design and prestige membership of being a mac owner, which is more important than performance over cost.

If you love the look and can use the operating system then go for the mac if that's what your after, you probably wont regret it seeing as your a brand whore :p

If your a penny pincher and feel you need to get the very best of performance over cost then get on hotukdeals and find your self an Acer, Dell, one of other 5000 brands. Up to you mate! If you want a hand picking something other than mac give me a shout and I'll have look for decent deals for you :p

Either way you aren't wrong for buying either, it's all personal choice.

  2. Got stuck twice coming out of my street this morning. Main streets are fine, so will probably park on the main street tonight. The Zed is totally useless in the snow though, funny useless. Wide tyres, no weight over them, just going no where. But ah well, makes up for it come summer :)

  3. That case would have looked way off to any half decent forensic investigator, I'm glad he was vindicated in the end. Poor guy. The treatment paedophiles get once found out, has to be the worst of any criminal act ever. Murderers and rapists can be disliked and feared, but pedo's are found to be abhorrent. I've left houses before with a guys computer at 7am, and by 8pm that night his house was burnt to the ground.

12 years is a hefty sentence indeed. It's a shame though because sentences like that are rarely ever handed out for big offenders. I've seen guys with hundreds of thousands of levels 4 and 5 get put on the register for ten years and 2 years jail time. Pish!

  4. yay 4chan!

4chan is paedophile heaven, you know that?

No it's not. /b/ might be, but you can't tarnish the whole of 4chan by one section.

I'm sure you would still be an avid user of this forum if there was a sub group associated with paedophilia.

  5. Bagpipes, pink oboe guitar and I can tinkle with a few others but don't play them proficiently.

 Wow craig I've never seen a pink one before ;)

And I thought that film 40 year old virgin was pure fiction....

....I'll show you one if you want ;)

    lmao :lol::lol:

  6. Initially I was going to refrain from replying as given the responses I got I suspect I may be wasting my time. Boredom on a Sunday morning however led me to search online for effective wing chun techniques, particularly wing chun full contact fights and all it has done is reaffirm by beliefs and in a couple of cases led me to laugh out loud ("wing chun - anti grappling" from someone who has trained in wrestling is very amusing to say the least).

To really test any martial art it needs to be tested in a full contact environment (hence my earlier reference to MMA - I still do not see how the comparison is "simply ludicrous") yet in every video I have seen this morning each practitioner enters throwing a flurry of extremely fast pretty powerless punches then commits to swinging like 2 drunk 10 year olds. The only techniques I have seen that have been effective have been clinching (done poorly - learn muay thai to do this correctly), wild hooks (again done poorly - learn boxing or muay thai to punch correctly) and in one video one of the sloppiest and most poorly defended double leg takedowns I have seen (learn wrestling to take someone to the floor and wrestling to defend - and FYI the only way to "anti grapple" is to grapple).

The point I am getting at is that in a restricted environment such as controlled sparring (no takedowns / grappling / less power /less speed or whatever rules you may have in force) wing chun and other traditional martial arts may look effective, but throw the same person into a full contact fight and naturally the person will respond utilising the most effective method available. Unfortunately this is very rarely what you will find taught in an traditional martial art.

It is a shame and perhaps understandable that many martial artists find it hard to believe that after years of training their methods are not the most effective in a real life combat situation. Perhaps if people widened their gaze a little they could actually improve their martial art rather than blindly following what their instructor has told them will work.

Can I also just state that I am not a trained wrestler as my posts suggest. I simply train aspects of it alongside many other combat sports to improve my all round game as I would be naive and stupid to think one sport / art would give me everything I need to fight effectively.

Maz0 - I guess you train thai and notice you are from Glasgow - do you train at the grip by any chance?

I used to train in thai years ago but gave it up through lack of time to commit! I tried to get back into it last year and had several sessions at the grip :) It's an excellent gym. You know of it?

  7. my mate has being doing this for past 10 years and goes abroad to train every year.

It's pretty funny and elegant to watch, best game is to play 'try hit me' when we go out - it's literally impossible to hit the guy and like swinging at a mosquito!

That's when you learn Muay Thai so that when he block's or palms, you break his arm and ribs and send him across the room :)

  8. Yeah do yourself a favour and don't whore the transitions, there's nothng more irratating than someone whos just learned to use PP and think's their amazing, as their actually irratating as ****.

A nice simple mellow background colour which does not detract from the text or message your putting across, and I would normaly only put bullet points in PP and use them to remind me of what I want to say, as what your saying is the presentation, PP is just a visual aid.

As for actualy using PP...it's a peice of p**s! just google PP tutorial. simple!

  9. Haven't read the article but from your quotes and reactions it seems like scaremongering or poor journalism to me.

I work for a major copier company and it has been standard procedure for years for our military/govt/major corporate customers to request the hard drives be removed and left on site when the device has reached the end of its life.

The latest generation even have hot swappable, encrypted drive options for the truly security conscious customer.

Agree'd. I'd be more worried about the hundreds of hard drives going to third world countries with every ones data on it :)
