Funny you mentioning this today, I just cycled to work this morning for the first time in years! Don't know much about Ribble bikes, I've got a Trek road bike (a brand I would definitely recommend) but I looked the Nero RC up and it looks the business
How did it go mate? I'm a bit apprehensive as I've never really done road riding before. Last time I rode was when I was about 15 and that was all over the place!
I was in Alpine bikes looking at the Trek 2.1 and 3.1 which is a kind of medium/high end alloy bike if I'm correct. It did look the business!
Jay it won't be that when your rugby team boots you out for being so unfit you can't run half the length of the pitch! 'ooh how do I improve my fitness blah blah'.

Where do you work that has a cycle to work scheme? Whats the benefits, few pence per mile? Also does your place offer loans to buy a bike
I work for a police force as a civilian staff member. It's a weird arrangement, but they give you £1000 to purchase a bike + accessories and then you pay for this through a hire agreement about 30 odd quid a month before tax + NI deductions, and then have the choice to purchase the bike at market value at the end of it. So all in you can save a fair bit of dosh.

Going to start cycling to work and also doing some weekly 20 mile or so trips.
I work in a job that can take advantage of the cycle to work scheme so going to get my self a decent road/race bike. Thinking of a full carbon Ribble Nero RC with Campagnolo Veloce gearset. I'm not up on bike's but a few review's say this to be a decent set up for about £1000.
Any cycling buffs out there that can give me any other advice on a better set up before I commit?

Im also afraid that the "no pay rises for the public sector" may increase this sort of activity too, as bonuses will no doubt be rife in order to circumvent the no pay rise policy. Which means those targets will need exceeding by a good margin.
Ok, I guess were talking about performance related pay here, not something I'm entitled to as civilian staff but I'll ask the traffic boys if you can get it by nabbing lots of slightly dodgy plates. I suspect not but I'll check for you after all were accountable to the public
Like many topics this is far from simple and could turn into very long debate best taken up at an event over a cool beer and a plate of chips, I'm going to zedfest on the 20th hding round the back somewhere I'll explain why I'm right about my first post, I love a good debate
Clearly I can't explain all the laws because some of them are bonkers
Traffic up here work on a point's system unlike regular beat officers. More point's equals targets being met quicker, and more targets being met equals more bonuses for those in the positions to receive them, generally superintendent + rank.

The reason they challenge this use is not because they want to target drivers who like a show type plate but because these are exaclty the tactics that drug dealers, human trafficers, terrorist groups and a whole host of other seriously undesirable types use to avoid detection from systems like ANPR.
Personally I think that bit is wrong. Ive been pulled for a plate that is perfectly legible by ANPR, but a slight spacing change. No screws, tape or other alterations just one character moved by 15mm so its closer to the last three letters than the first one. If the plate is legible, detectable by ANPR and on a car that is hardly going to be used if you wish to avoid attention/detection (bright yellow 350z), then why the ticket.
Its for the stats. Crime detected, Crime resolved.
I know they exist, the police know they exist, everyone knows they exist. And when the regional force is looking like they may need a bit of a boost to make sure they exceed their targets - the motorists will know they exist too.
Im also afraid that the "no pay rises for the public sector" may increase this sort of activity too, as bonuses will no doubt be rife in order to circumvent the no pay rise policy. Which means those targets will need exceeding by a good margin.
My advice is to ensure your cars are sqeuaky clean, as we could see a period of trivial offences being ticketed every time. Of course this will be publicised as a "zero tolerance campaign" or a "crackdown to prevent an epidemic" etc etc. The authorities must think us general public have three heads and are the result of cousins marrying.
Didn't you vote the public sector pay freezers in?

I have just sent pippa an email there buddy to find out what time we have to have the cars on the stand for As soon as I know......i will post it up. The last time we had a show at knockers..... we all just washed the cars on the stand itself lol.....
Weren't we lucky that we had a hose near by? or was that pre-arranged?

Working away on this one sorry!!

I booked with emirates when i was travelling to oz ....... they where the cheapest by far
Emirates are IMO one of the best people to fly to Australia with. Their service is great, and I've tried a few to compare them with. If your going on a 17+ hour flight to Australia it's probably best not to save pennies and go for the milk run route because it kills you.

Enjoy guys....... but I want nothing to do with this company.... thus not going
You hater!
Can't make it this Sunday Craig sorry mate!

Either you are building a car with comforts or you are building a car for the track, you cannot have both.
Then its not bogus.... if he stated he was going comfort then fair enough, but he didn't. In fact he stated he was actually going for tuning mods as well...

Just to clarify that I didn't get a ticket. The policeman was alone and scots law does not allow a police officer to act alone. All he did was took my details. I'm sure he'll be gunning for me. If I got a fine or change notification then I'd pay it as I admit the number is dodgy on the grounds stated above. I just couldn't hack a bobby on the beat (I assume without any specialist traffic training) spouting absolute rubbish about legislation that does not exist. This to me is the way to fast track a hatred of the police into a person or a group of people.
Yeah I was waiting for you to clarify that. He had no corroboration so no ticket. On that note, he's just messing you about

Upgrade, it's only a colour.
I bet you wouldn't buy a turd brown one if they made it colour means a lot, I can appreciate where the man is coming from. It makes a car in my opinion.
Yea but for a grand or two I could have that colour tommorow. I never understand folk toting about how their unique because of the colour...

It's a bit pimp my ride, but hey it's good to be different!

Perhaps consider a repaired cat C/D ?

Are these filters any good? They seem cheap and get some good reviews, but then some others say that are rubbish
Have only heard good thing's about them mate.
I'd say 'I'll let you know how I got on' but I don't own a dyno so...
I'll hope for the best when I go for the Uprev.

What station? Most publish their playlists online if you can remember what time it was at

I tried some wheel cleaner from Halfrauds, I know I know...
So I done the whole spray it and walk to the next wheel, spray it and walk to the next thing. When I got back to the beginning this was the state of the wheel, and I cant seem to rub it off, tried T-cut and now going at it with Meguiars metal polish, which seems to take the edge off it, but it looks like it's a deep burn.
Any idea's I could try before having to take them to be refurbed?
-
I think it will only fit one way?
It does yeah, which was confusing me
cheers bud

Got myself an 06 intake and took off the JWT. Today I got the do-luck filter and put it on, but being non-mechanically minded I'm worried it's back to front....
The wire mesh in the image above is currently facing the engine, instead of facing the bumper, but I would have thought the mesh would have been facing the bumper to stop the bigger contaminents etc?
Cheers folk

glad to hear it. you got any info for me?
The search is terrible on this forum. Put in 350z gearbox & it brings up every single post that exists which contain any of the letters & numbers you searched for
Hahaha, try searching topic titles only. But yeah I know what you mean.

I like this forum because it doesn't have this facility, is that wierd? I see so many forums out there with fancy reps abilities or thanks buttons an I kinda like the idea that you just know the guys on here who are helpful and the guys who aint. Simples.

Thats a fantastic job you done there

Sorry to hear about your loss mate, can't even imagine how you feel. I don't know what I'd do without mine, their such a corner stone of our lives. Hope the family are holding up ok.

Good job with the project, it's nice to see someone making the effort.
Criticism's for me, are the paint work and wheels. The silver you have chosen makes the car look like its primer'd and still to be finished spraying. A more solid colour would contrast better with the black and look as thought it was on purpose.
Wheel's I think you have the right idea, but the ones in that picture just don't feel right.
