  1. Ive stuck my neck out recently and had it shot off but guess I'll never learn....... It's only a £3 diff in price if I read your post correctly. Remember like any business they exist to make a profit. Had it been double I would think it wrong, but this doesn't seem too bad. If you stress about unfair markups, google the cost of a bottle of wine you buy when you're next eating out. That's extortionate!
  2. Bad times! Glad they left their number though, I had the same thing last year except no number left and a £300 bill to pick up!
  3. Usually quite an easy, free fix. Should be fine! Who's fixing it for you? Why didn't you have a good with the fix it yourself guide?
  4. *people *paying *on *the think you meant to include a '?' on the end too. There are a few young'uns on here. Sure some will be along shortly to share what they pay.........
  5. If you can build all that for 10k good luck i think it can,t be done for that money.
  6. If Nurrish says think hard before doing FI then I'd listen. If your budget is more than zed but half way to GTR then it may be worth it. Just remember slapping 450bhp into a zed doesn't make it on par with a GTR. It would still get eaten in every respect. If you want serious speed by a fast car!
  7. I watch this thread with interest and need to do mine as well......
  8. I used to think it was all about deposit. If you had it BTL mortgages were easy to get but a friend looked into this recently and turned to be a hell of a lot more complicated than he thought. I don't know this in's and out's of it, so I won't dispense advice however, he talked about the lender wanting details of how much the rental income was relative to the amount lent, disregarding completely that he could cover the additional mortgage on his income on it's own. Sounds bonkers to me but seems there's so much more to it then really there should be. Speak to a proper expert and good luck!
  9. Do your homework, make sure the history is bang on and it's HPI'd etc. I hav'nt bought a car from Ebay but if it all checks out that sounuds like a very good price!
  10. Both sound like common problems and not too expensive to fix. Re: the stereo it's probably best to just bin the BOSE and get a good aftermarket. With the knocking sounds, is it when you're pulling away and reversing? If so its the comon fault and you can for cheap replacement parts. he has a kit to fix it.
  11. Assuming it's got a perfect service history and is in A1 condition I'd say around £7,500.
  12. I'd say it's about £500-£800 too expensive + make sure that the knocking is fixed and included in that price.
  13. As a sales professional I can understand why she was like that, even though she approached you in entirely the wrong way. Understand that pricing up your car is an administrative exercise more complicated that you appreciate. They get test pilots in all day long and really, why should they bust their tits talking PX value when you havnt even established if you like their car?! I back up entirely their reasons for being like that, but think it's so much easier if you explain t honestly to a buyer. She handled you wrong, just try and walk a mile in their shoes before you cast them off as ungrateful.
  14. Think we've turned the Zed forum into 'grumpy old men being penickety about grammar and (the queens) english forum'
  15. I could stalk round the neighbourhood in the dead of night polishing peoples cars
  16. The day has finally come. My DAS-6 arrived yesterday and today my set of polishing pads from Monza. Just got a few questions before I get stuck in at dawn tomorrow. The pads I've got are: 1x 6" Cutting Pads 'white' 1x 6" Medium Polishing Pads 'orange' 1x 6" Light Polishing Pads 'yellow' 1x 6" Finishing Pads 'black' http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT So on to my (stupid) questions........................... - After I've washed her I want to attend to the swirl marks, for which I'll be using Meguirs Ultimate Compound. Since its only swirls I assume the medium polishing pads are my best bet? From my previous reading I gather I squirt some on the pad and work the machine over a panel. Correct? - Do I need to wash the car after I've polished to get residue of polish off before I wax? - Do I apply the wax with the machine, or hand apply and machine off? If I do use the machine which pad would I use to apply wax? - Are the finishing pads for removing / buffing the wax off? Thanks guys and I'll post after I've detailed or melted the paint, depending on which happens.............
  17. It did'nt look quite right but I could'nt have spotted as a fake if I'm honest. Would have made me feel matrix'y for a while, knowing somehting had not been quite right about it but ended up ignoring it.
  18. That's amazing. I embrace companies that take such pride in what they do, I think I'll go buy some Lego (probably star wars) just to show my support. Bravo Lego!
  19. The site's behind a password wall so just linking won't work.
  20. Alex will be able to give you a great price on the box itself. For installation I'd use Abbey Motorsport in Surrey. They are performance Nissan specialists and great people to boot!
  21. Help with what? You hav'nt asked a question! The report should tell you everything you need to know. The gears are quite crunchy in the Zed anyway but I would get a quote / rough figure for the cost of the work and negotiate that off the price. Gearboxes are expsnive when they go! Same with brake pads but this is obivously less of an issue. My main concern in your position would be the gearbox. If you're not 100% on it walk away! There will always be another and it's the old addage 'looks too good to be true, then it probably is'.
  22. Abbey Motorsport did mine last wek for £55 each.
