  1. No worries I didn't really put what I was asking properly anyway I just wanted to know if it was a tablet that could be easily taken out so i could use it for other things too Another question is does the price include a retractable cubby? Nah, it'll be fixed and look like an OEM fit device, so won't be removable. It does include the cubby too, The cubbys cost about £100 separately though
  2. OBD2 info should be a go and not add too much to costings. The screen layout will be customizable, but will look something like this in a horizontal layout. Boom Boom Pow!
  3. I'm ordering the parts for my car this weekend, then I'll put up some pictures when I have it doing what I want. Then I'll leave it on my car for a while and see if any problems occur in the first couple of weeks.
  4. As everyone on the list has been contacted, these are now first come, first served basis now. Ordered another batch of parts today so will have about 10 in stock. Cookie
  5. That's what annoyed me with the other nav system I had in my Z, but that's now in the bin due to numerous reasons..... Those screens you're thinking of are the resistive type and feel like pressing your finger into a piece of cling film and look a silvery/grey colour in sunlight. I'm looking for a unit that uses a capacitive screen which is similar to what's used on iPhones/iPads and should produce nice blacks even in sun light, but no LCD will look perfect in direct uber sunlight. These also allow multi gesture use so you can pinch to zoom etc. These screens look and feel a bit like glass or clear, solid plastic. The problem is that these units cost £££'s and will make the final price closer to £400 than £300, but bulk buying will hopefully make it a little better. As for speed I'm looking for a minimum of 800mhz/256mb ram which should be pokey enough to run sat software/mp3/mp4. I'm looking forward to be able to use google maps with traffic update, use the web and stream music directly from http://www.di.fm over my MiFi dongle as I have a 15gb limit! As for turning on when the car does, that will just be simple electronics from the temporary live. I'll have a think about that when I've got a unit. Thinking telecoms relay's or 555 timer to make sure it's a timed click. (not press and hold, which will probably reset it or something) not thought about it too much yet. Cookie
  6. As long as your head unit has an audio in, be it a 3.5mm jack or phono leads then It'll be ok. Probably be even better! For engine data and stuff you would need to connect one of these into it, although I've never seen it: http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=3471 not sure where you'd find one though and it's pretty pricey!
  7. It should be fine, just watch when you pull the unit away from the foam as the double sided sticky stuff can pull the copper tracks away and break.
  8. would a SC'ed car have any benefit from also having the MREV2? This would be done before remapping. Cookie
  9. Great success. Did the 3a fuse I fitted survive?
  10. Who would be interested in a car computer that: -Runs Android 2.2 software and has access to literally thousands of applications/games. Angry Birds anyone? -Has a capacitive screen instead of a resistive screen (this supports multi touch like iPads) that is very very sharp. -WiFi, so if you have a phone that supports tethering or a MiFi dongle, you'd have full access to the internet, Google earth and possibly even web radio broadcasts while you're driving! Even if you don't you can buy a Vodafone dongle for about £30 and stick that in. -Would support USB memory/HDD drives giving loads of space for movies/music, but would have an SD card of around 4gb, but expandable to 32gb if you really had the desire. -Built in GPS software so if you don't have an internet connection, you can still use the GPS hardware. - It would also play all your media requirements. -Be compatible with the Bose hack and include methods to get rid of that dreaded hum. - Have that OEM look by being contained in the Nissan Bird View Sat Nav surround. - Could have a reverse camera for about £30 more And all for less than £400? I've already got enough interest to warrant building one and I want one for my car anyway, but if it's a great success. I will be able to bulk buy the parts (this will cost over a £1000) and do a load at once. So who would be game for such technical wonder device? Cookie
  11. Yep and you can lock the door while driving and they'll stay out. Cookie
  12. Put 12v to the horn and see if it's knackered!
  13. Wow, the ones I've just made are all pretty much spoken for already. Might have to order more parts!
  14. Next batch done. The next few might be cash first to actually ensure they're wanted. Thanks, Cookie
  15. Oi !! still have my TT and yes £30K with no toys !!! Fail.....
  16. Got asked yesterday by some bloke if it had been Audi TT'd?!? Not really sure what that is? Does it make you drive like a Tool?
  17. I'm expecting enough parts to make 10 early this week and I'll contact you when it's done with payment details. Thanks, Cookie
  18. If you can't find there are various sites to search for, although most look suspect. search on google for audio code unlockers and they'll do it for about £15 and tell you the code.
  19. Haha, they all do, but this one moves them when you lock/unlock the door. Removed anyway though. Cookie
  20. I'd like this, but my offer would be insulting. That and I'm not sure how long i'll be keeping the Z
  21. For those waiting, I'll be getting the remaining parts hopefully on monday for another 10 units. It'll probably take me til Wednesday to make them, but I'll be emailing those who are next when they're made. thanks, cookie
  22. I stand to be S/C'd for about 3k, you've just got to wait for 2nd hand parts to come up at the right price. Only a fuel return for me, but I'm going to build my own.
  23. He was only unsure of the micro switch fitting location as I'd not got round to getting some pictures for that part. The Guide is now finished in all its glory!!!
  24. What info can be read off the Z OBD2 socket? Are we talking useful stuff for FI? Cookie
