  1. GM are by far the best looking ;)

James I've always seen your Zed as my inspiration for how I would love mine to look in the future......just wish I wasn't spending so much on the fuel at the moment as not leaving me much for future mods!!!!

    Awesome motor!!! B)B)B)

  2. Worthwhile purchase? Park next to an audi tt like i did last night and its worth all the gripes and pain. Find a nice bit of b-road and 16mpg just fades into insignificance. Sneek a peak out the window at it and try not to grin. Cant wait to play with it on my first track day in the summer......

I must admit when I was looking to purchase this motor it was between the Zed, a TT or perhaps a S2000; I see Rich has moved towards the S2000 in the last few months.

In the end I fell for the Zed head over heels; the looks are just amazing and yes I do look out of the windown from time to time just to check I'm not dreaming and that really is my Zed in the driveway; grin appears everytime!!!! :yahoo: Even got caught by the neighbour once as she thought I was smiling at her whilst she walking the dog.......that was slightly embarrasing!!!

The other day I was stationary sat at the lights beside a TT and although I do still think the new shape TT's are lovely looking, perhaps more a motor for my 'Mrs'!!!

The scary thing is the fuel consumption; drive the Zed every day to work (round trip of 55 miles); seems like I stop at the petrol garage almost daily on the way home at the moment.......wishing for the warm weather just to try to increase the MPG.......but heyhoe still love my Zed to pieces and cannot imagine owning anything else now!!!! :D

  3. Tom,

I have always taken my motors to Autotest; they are located on the Norwich airport industrial estate.

I had my Zed serviced there at the back end of 2010 and they were really good  ; told me about a couple of things to watch that may need doing in the near future as well as how much mileage I had left on my pads, discs and tyres. Really good service but they're not the cheapest.

I too wasn't sure which service I required but they did the reserach on the internet about the 350z & found the one that I required.

I would always rather take it to a garage that I trust will look after the car as oppossed to the cheapest!!!

To find Autotest, turn onto the airport estate at the Heatrae Sadia offices (the junction opposite the Nissan Delaership) and follow the road around the bend. Keep following the road until you come to a right turn junction where Autotest have a advertising board; they are set back on this turn on the right hand side.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I'm glad I read this posting; very interesting and certainly explains why my MPG is dropping like a lead balloon.

I was beginning to worry that I may have a problem but I was just hoping it was the cold weather. Even though I knew realistically it was due to the weather I never actually understood the reasons......but now it makes far more sense.

I must admit that I am always learning new things and soaking up more information from all the genius' on this forum.......I thank you all.

  5. your very right. gonna pass on them then. what tyres do you have and what do you think to them? thanks

on the 350z i used the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas they were very good, and for the standard OEM tyre sizes i think they work very well and give a good balance of grip and cost.

on my current car; my S2k i run the falken 452's, i've been really impressed by them, but that is on a lighter car with a wider tyre and a lower profile; which seems to remove some of the issues others have suffered in the Zed.

other favourites are the toyo;s and the michelin pilot sports (MPS2's are very good but mucho expensive)

lots of other options out there. have a look at the tyre review thread.

I'm in deperate need of some tyres and with this snowy weather upon us, I really needed them yesterday!!!!

The tyre thread you posted Rich was the best review I've seen and very insightful. My budget is limiting and I cannot really push for the full top end tyres as I feel all 4 boots need changing with low tread remaining on all 4 corners.

To find a tyre that suits both dry, wet and cool weather whilst having some form of longevity I thought the Vredestein sessanta tyres looked a good option from the reviews posted (as I can see from previous comments you will probably agree). In the past I have bought the Toyo Proxes but the side walls always seemed very unstable and they never lasted particularly well.

If I choose to settle on the Vredesteins......are they a mission to track down? cannot seem to find anyone locally to Norwich that stocks these tyres for the Zed requirements!

    Thanks,

  6. what free gift did u go for?

Sorry Sparky I cannot remember off the top of my head what the code was......to be fair contact any moderator and they are unbelievably quick with their responses

As for the free gift I chose the 501 LED sidelight bulb as wanted to upgrade these at that point in time but if I'm completley honest they aren't really much to sing home about and didn't install them; now kept in the boot as a backup if the need ever arose!!!!

Instead I went for a far better LED alternative that was reccommended to me from Husky (the legend on all LED concerns) and found them at a local dealer; these are amazing in their performance; something similar to these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-501-W5W-XENON ... 3f00ac444e

  7. I have now gone with the Retro-fit flat beam wiper blades or Aero wipers........look absolutley stunning, far less bulky than the standard wipers on the Zed and they are SSSSOOOOOOOOO Good, can't believe my eyes that I have glass in my screen sometimes now. What a difference new wipers make!!!!!!!

I know what you're all going to say....but I'm not very good at all this uploading picture procedure so to be honest so you will just have to take my word for it.

I would like to say though.....if anyone is after this style of wiper blade, then DO check out the Autobulbs Direct or ABD website; superb customer service and delivery.

I ordered mine via the internet on Sunday 27th June at 09.30am, recieved an email from them at 08.30am on the Monday morning stating my order had been dispatched via the standard 2-4 working day delivery package that I had chosen at no extra cost (bargain) and recieved them from my posty at 8.00am on the Tuesday 28th June...... WOW!!!!

And to top this..... being a member on here, one of the FANTASTIC administrators will PM you a special discount code and the order is even cheaper :yahoo: .

    As I have said WOW........check them out.........http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/abd-re ... -and-rear/

The pack that I purchased was the "ABD Retro-Fit Flat Beam Wiper Blades Full Pack 20"/18"/18" which are advertised at a discounted rate of £21.25 but with the special code the cost was reduced to £19.12 and you also qualify for one of the company's free gifts......what more could you desire?

    Hope this helps.

  8. I really wanted to ditch the front number plate holder also but after researching on here I discovered that this would leave 2 holes in my front bumper which would then need filling, painting etc.

So I can see why Sam has attached his in this location.......well I presume this is the reasoning!!!

  9. B)
    or

Thanks for correcting my post placement.

how did you get your steering wheel control buttons to light up? Mine have never done this' date=' so is this a modification or are mine just not functioning?[/quote']

    This is stock.

Remind you it's a '07 (after the second lift) and probably here is the trick.

Your steering wheel probably looks like this:

    zed4.jpg

(I hope PDean350 don't mind me linking his picture :surrender::) )

Whit names written outside the buttons.

    Mine has names on them:

    Cheers guys!

:bangin::bangin::bangin: D'oh........sorry I didn't realise that the wheel had been updated on the newer models; mine is an '05 Zed and you are correct mine looks like your 1st picture so that does now make more sense. Sorry for being a little slow on the up-take on this one!!!! Always learning!

    Thanks

  10. Well, you use most fuel when its stone cold so keep your revs down for the first few miles..3 or 4 should do it. Keep your distance from the vehicle in front of you so that your not constantly slowing down and accelerating...saves on brake wear too. I'm a fairly gentle driver and change at about 3,500 rpm most times. Avoid being goaded by TT, Evo, Subaru, etc owners and most of all Boy Racers, just smile and let them get on with it remembering that you're in a better car. Switch off your engine if you're stuck in a queue that's not going to be moving for a while. On Motorways, set your cruise control to 70 or just above. Another one is to try and anticipate traffic lights, rather than roar up them when they are on red, ease back a bit, give them time to change. There are other ways, many of them , that I've used in the distant past to get me home when I was critically short of petrol.. Unfortunately, even adapting all these measures is only going to give you maybe 30 mpg over a 12 month period...and it's pretty difficult to be in constant fuel saving mode for more than a couple of days :)

    Pete

Jetset you certainly know what you're talking about and your advice is sound; without realising I do all of the above measures and I still cannot ever get much above 27 mpg.................maybe that is because of exactly what you have mentioned at the end.......there's only so long you can drive like a saint :innocent: and be non-aggressive before the inevitable happens..........you relaise how good the Zed is to drive and the right foot gets planted :yahoo:

For me it's normally caused by a catalyst.......some idiot motorist driving at 32 mph in a 60 limit :bang::bang: with no reasoning other than they just shouldn't be on the road; generally they're are so old and scared of the road and surrounding traffic they just become a liability!!!

  11. I used Tesco 99 once and my exhaust fell off!!

 Only messing, its all i use! Club points baby!! :teeth:

Read this without scrolling down....................funniest thing I've read all day; thanks for cheering me up so much whilst sitting at my desk.:lol::lol::lol:

I actually forgot where I was; howled out laughing and then the boss says "everything alright over there?" Whoopssssy!!! :fool:

  12. It's practically the same as the two bucket method, but the two bucket method uses alot less water

    and better lol

I've just come in from a three hour wash and wax session - much easier to use hose for rinsing mitt

3 Hour session...............I hope the hose wasn't on for all of that otherwise your water bill will be HUGE!:cry::cry:
