  1. i suppose in some sense it being FWD keeps it "safe", keeping to the family car idea...

it is a great car but i dont think its for you if your looking for a sports car. the main problem i had with my focus ST is its soulless. same with an M3 etc. the zed however :teeth:

I must admit I do like the look and styling of the RS and when our neighbour nips out in his I do always stop and admire the car leaving B) ..........but has anyone ever bought one or seen anyone driving one that didn't have a family??? It is still a safe family car and who wants that???

  2. Image say's it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I like that!

Seriously though folks - if you don't report them you shouldn't be whinging :bangin: ............yes some of this was unavoidable ...........yes the weather has made the roads worse............yes we're overtaxed.............ya-de-ya...........we live in a western 'free' democracy - and we're free to vote with our feet.

Most councils have report online facilities now - so get it done already- if they're over-run with reports then it gets picked up in audits and service evaluation! Then central govt will have no choice but to remove ring-fenced funding and give local councils some more cash!!!

I wish this was true but funding doesn't get distributed because local council's are struggling.......if the money isn't there, funding cannot be increased.

We are also now being informed that because of the recent weather conditions our council tax will rise to help cover the extra costs that importing the required road salt cost the country's local councils!!! :yuck:

  3. to be honest although I agree its a pain the weather has caused a lot more damage to the roads than usual fairly recently. Some of the really bad bits on main roads near me have been quickly filled in as they are dangerous but you do have to give them a chance to sort it - its a big job! Also don't just expect it to be sorted out if its not reported - they can't have someone out inspecting every inch of the road.

Nixy, although I certainly agree with what you're saying and I do appreicate that once the local councils are made aware of any such potholes or grouping of potholes, they are quick to respond. What I feel is the actual problem, is there choice of repair and the quality of this repair!!!

Since the "Big Freeze" as everyone is calling it, we have had a grouping of potholes appear on the main road through our village. The road is a major access route used by many large haulage firms and once the cracks develop, they soon grow into these extremely deep (sometimes 6" or worse) potholes. The problem continues to grow because these large trucks cannot avoid the holes so easily as we can in the smaller vehicle.

The real gripe I have is that the council have been out and filled these holes but they have completed it with a mixture or composition that you could tell, even on the day of completion that this was never going to last..............now a few days on and a few trucks later...........the holes are as bad as ever and within a week they will be no better than before.

In addition to this now the entire road and footpath is littered with the composition material they used for the repair. Now not only do you struggle to avoid the holes......now the grit fills your tyres and arches whilst continually being thrown towards the pedestrians.

    DISGUSTING!!!!

  4. Reading these posts has answered so many questions.........as well as consuming a large part of my day!!!

My username came about through the constant mis-pronunciation of my surname by anyone who read it.....for example at the doctors....or an interview etc etc etc. My Surname is Hacon and the only way I found to get people to pronounce it correctly is to say "Hacon....like Bacon, but with an H"!!!

The only problem was everyone then just called me Bacon..........and so it ends.

I do like the food Bacon...........but not the reasoning behind this.

  5. I like to describe it thus

"I am disapointed when I reach my destination, as I have to get out of it"

This feeling we all seem to share in, I think was best summed up by Jeremy Clarkson in the episode where he drove (I believe) the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster down to the south coast of France.........he stated "that if he drove all the way to the south of France and then realised he had forgotton his swimming trunks, he would quite happily drive all the way home just to collect them"!!!!

I totally agree with the legend Clarkson..........I drove a 50 mile round trip from work the other day...purely because I forgot to put my watch on. I know, a tad sad but I hate not having my watch on and this was a good excuse as well.

  6. Great work!!!

Wish I had such a large garage........spent ages looking for our new house and moved in just before Christmas; garage was a must on our wish list and we managed to find a lovely house with a detached garage......good times!!!!

Only issue now is that once I get her in and out of the rain..........I have to sleep there with her!!! This doesn't go down to well with the missus; she actually thinks I'm having an affair.

  7. Hmmm, sorry to be the one to bring the negative points but what about the fact there's no lumbar support, or adjustable steering column? That really frustrates me - I can never seem to get get properly comfortable and I've had it almost a year a now. Maybe I'm just funny shaped.

It's certainly the best car I've ever owned - not the fastest, economical or most comfortable but a good all-rounder.

    :ban:

Sorry to be a tad picky but is your 350z an import??? If so, I apologise as I don't really know how they differ internally from the UK spec other than items such as sterring wheel controls and the like.

If instead it is a UK spec.....then you can adjust the steering column!!! Furthermore regarding feeling comfortable in the 350z, everyone I have spoken to in this club and from the comments I have recieved from friends when they have been allowed the priviledge of riding in my new girl.........the comments are always how tremendously comfy the seats are. Passengers have said that perhaps my driving isn't particularly rider friendly but hey, that's half the fun!!!

  8. Motor looks sweet Jak.......very aggressive and moody!!!

If you don't mind me asking, what splitter have you at the front? Looks superb!!!

  9. Congratulations Marzman........I'm sure she's over the moon that you have at last proposed.

At the end of the day it doesn't have to change anything in the relationship and you don't have to exactly start planning the big day yet..............I've been planning (or avoiding perhaps) now for 8 years and 15 days!!! Gulp....sounds quite bad when I write it down. Heyhoe!!!

    Anyway...well done and enjoy.

  10.

like chris said, not the point i was trying to make.

by no means what so ever is the zed the ideal car for the job when it comes to snow. just more that its not impossible to use.

FWD is far easier to use, but some morons can't even use that. the zed is my daily driver, so i have no choice. but its done me proud so far.

I agree totally with rtbiscuit....the Zed is clearly not the ideal car for these kind of conditions but if you can still manage to drive, as I do 30 miles to work on s**t, snow covered A and B country roads and your colleagues don't turn up due to the weather and they only live 2 miles away; then you do tend to be seen and remembered as a legend with the added extra of owning a great looking car!!! Good times :D

As it has been mentioned, it comes down more to the driver and not the tool of choice. Last friday I was driving along the dual carriageway of the A47 near Norwich, when I saw an '09 plate range rover on its side in the ditch....tracks clearly show it had done a complete 180 spin from the outside lane and had gone into the ditch backwards and then tipped. So even the best of tools doesn't necessarily mean this weather is any easier to contend with..............it did bring a smile to my face though thinking I was still commuting in my extemely light, rear ended, rear wheeled and very torquee zed!!!

    Good news....warm weather approaching!!!

  11. I was going to keep the mods to a minimum for a few months.....just until I get used to her. To be honest I ploughed all my savings into purchasing th best possible spec' I could and this hasn't really left me any spare for a great deal of modifying.

The small changes that I have done so far are listed on my signature but I'm not sure these can really count as modifications. Ideas I was toying with include tinting the rear windows, purchasing a bluetooth adapter to rid her of the old Nokia handset, a tonneau cover to produce an actual boot section, replacing the window contol panels with RSW Motorsport Carbon Electric Window Covers from the Z-Store, as mine are a tad scratched and when finances allow a set of 19" NISMO LMGT-4 wheels; if I can find any that is!!!!

Any opinions or suggestions on a currently limited budget???

  12. Hi Guys and Gals,

I have some great news to annouce.........I have finally managed to purchase a 350z GT.

I have been searching for just over a year and as I am some what of a perfectionist (well the missus says it's OCD!) to be fair it's more likely to be a mixture of the both. Anyway on the 11th December I managed to secure my beloved Zed. She is a 2005 GT model in the Gunmetal finish.

I'd test driven a couple of Zeds previously but there was always something that just told me to walk away; generally just tatty interiors which tells me that they've not be loved and cared for as they deserve.

I travelled down to Surry with a mate to view the car and the drive back was certainly the best 2 hours of my entire life.........I knew from the reviews and from being a member on here for the past few months that the Zed was good but I didn't realise it would be this superb!!! Very happy... :teeth:

I know this must sound a little sad but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this.............I wake up in the morning and I still have to look out of the window just to gaze at her and then I can't wait for the drive to work..........have I lost the plot???

The worst thing about owning this beatiful car is without doubt this weather...........its basically snowed since I've owner her!!!

Finally I would just like to say Hi to you all and that this website is FANTASTIC!!! Reading through the forums certainly has proved useful with the purchase of the car and also in helping me to decide on future mods so thank you all.

  14. I've just realised what this car reminds me of...............a really overweight stormtrooper!!!

Price has been reduced a little further overnight on the bay.

Don't know why he doesn't just try an auction rather than scaring everyone away from the car with such a ludicrous price tag???

  15. :clap:I must admit if I could stretch my budget that little bit further I would love to purchase a GT4; in particular the Kuro finish just has that little extra attraction for me.........super smooth whilst also rather aggressive.

    Great looking motor R800NER!!!
