  1. It will be interesting to see the "complexity" of the track used for the celebrity laps.... American barges, tight corners, cowboy gung ho attitudes = spectacular crash. Bring it on.
  2. The technology is also now becoming available for home use too. There are a few tv's and a few projectors that are 3d capable too. Some people do suffer headaches or eye strain when watching 3d, just s some see the rainbow efect of DLP projectors. I have refrained from speccing anything with 3d capability during my cinema rebuild at home as Im not bothered about going the 3d route, and would rather just have top quality normal projection instead. Im sure there will be the odd time that its fun, but for everyday viewing I doubt it would be to most peoples tastes. The glasses are a necesity, as its the viewing of slightly different images from the slightly different angles of each eye that gives the 3d appearence.
  3. Hi All, I have the tickets and club stand passes ready now. If the attendees could send me a PM with the following I can fill out the stand passes and save some time on the day: Car Registration Name Mobile Number The gates open for club cars at 7am, however as we dont have a massive number to organise, I would suggest meeting at 8am to enter the show as a group. The garden centre above seems a good spot. Regards, Chris.
  4. Spreadbetting has the unique feature that you can lose more than your initial investment, so be sure you understand the total risk before wading in. A simple calculation of your risk is: bet per point X total current price of the shares. eg. £5 per point on a 341p share gives a total risk of £1,705. If this share is in banking then the total margin required to place the bet is about 10%, which means you need £171 in your spread betting account to take out a £5 per point bet on that share. However, if that share goes to Zero, then you owe 341p x £5, which is the full value of the risk (£1,705). Hence why you can lose more than your initial investment. Multiply the bet by ten and you can see how for an initial investment of £1705 you can effectively make as much profit as if you had purchased £17,050 worth of shares... If they go to zero though you will owe the full £17,050 just if you had bought the shares....
  5. Im with them too Husky. They have their ups and downs, but overall Im happy with the service for now. Im on a legacy product of PAYG which means I have a usage limit of about 6GB during the day, but then between midnight and 8am its unlimited. I know that the unlimited package would probably better suit my needs in terms of downloaded data, but when I do want to use P2P which is very rare, I can do so at any time of the day knowing I will ge full line speed rather than a lower priority traffic at peak times.
  6. Sadly, I put my postcode into Virgin media and Im surprised it doesnt put up a picture of a carrier pigeon
  7. Some "add ons" for games can be several hundred mb in size, and the 50mb per hour would be basic playing of games online - if you factor in downloading the game demos, game videos etc etc, its quite easy to rack up some high usage.
  8. Ive asked the question on the location of +1 purchasing, depending on the answer, the garden centre could be a good shout for meeting
  9. Yes. Depends how much it is used, and also if any downloadable content (maps, cars, tracks etc etc) is purchased.
  10. Id have it tomorrow if it was in my area, but I doubt that will happen any time this millenium. Its an even worse case in Chesterfield borough councils area (which Im now not in). They allowed NTL to lay cable for a while, but then ran into an issue whereby council tennants were refusing houses because they werent in a cable area. Rather than the council giving these layabout chumps a kick up the jacksie as they were getting a house for free anyway, they instead told NTL (and now Virgin I believe) that they cannot lay any cable in any "private" areas of Chesterfield until all the areas with council houses are connected. Needless to say NTL, and now Virgin have told them to shove it up their backside.
  11. We only order the driver tickets through the club as we subsidise the cars on the stand rather than the people. Buying on the gate is not normaly an issue, but there have been times when the passenger tickets needed to be purchased from a seperate booth, meaning cars got turned round at the gate to go and buy a +1, splitting the group up on entry and making getting to the stand a little more cumbersome than it should have been.
  12. Holy bejebus! I would kill for a download speed like that. Whats the pings like on it though - thats the more important one for me given my gaming activities
  13. We will be launching a new theme for the forum specifically designed to work with mobile browsers. No more trying to zoom in to click the fiddly little buttons. It should be extremely fast to browse and read the site using your mobile browser. Sadly we cant do anything about the very small keyboards they have, so when posting, its still down to you and your accurate texting skills Oh and dont forget the news feeds that are on the forum now, you can keep up to date using a news ticker if you dont want the full browser open
  14. Nope - there has been no car claimed yet, so if you wish to take the spot with a car then the ticket is yours grant Ill sort out the meeting location and ticket hand out time for everyone shortly.
  15. If we have tickets spare that we cannot find a car to attend with, then the next option would be to sell the ticket, obvioulsy the first refusal should go to someone from the club for their +1. You can have first dibs if we dont find a car for it/them. Passenger tickets will need to be purchased on the day prior to entry. They sometimes sell these on the way in with cars, but at other times need to be bought prior to driving through, so to avoid the cars being split up on entry, it is adviseable that we all have our tickets prior to entry if they are not literally selling at the gate. Given the timing now, I would not be able to post the tickets until tomorrow at the earliest, so will go for the meet at the gate, hand out tickets and enter as a group routine.
  16. As I posted above, the tickets are on their way to me. Depending on their arrival time we will be arranging to either forward post them on (unlikely) or meet up and enter as a group. As the tickets havent arrived yet, what else were you expecting to hear? Anyone else now want to come to this?
  17. The upgrade to 21cn is actually a lot of different things grouped together. The broadband segment is the rollout of ADSL2+. This still uses the coper wires as before, but newer technology means you can now get up to 24mb speeds on the same network. Dont get too excited though, the major increases in speed are only going o be noticed if you are very close to the exchange. Those with line lengths of 2500m or closer will be the ones who see the most drmatic increases. This all depends on whether tyour ISP passes on the speeds for free too... We are all probably now on a "up to 8mb" product. As that is the max speed on the current ADSL product. If we get a bump to 24mb, the ISP could always cap our speed at 8mb on the "up to 8mb" product, and then sell a whole new product of "up to 24mb"... Until BT bring down the costs of their capacity based charges (I think its about £1.3M per year for a 622mbs pipe) then expect to see either usage caps, speed restrictions or selective port speed restrictions in order to cope. People claim they have "unlimited" packages - but it is simply impossible. A 622mbps pipe will only allow about 26 people with a 24mb connection to have full speed permanently. Unless ISPs are going to charge £50k a year for a 24mb connection then you cannot guarantee a customer full line speed 24 hours a day. They have to put many more customers on that line, knoiwing that they probably wont all use it at the same time etc.. 24mb speeds will only make the problem worse. on a 6mb connection, at peak times someone may get 5mb, so not that much of a slow down, and its accetable to the user. Now if they suddenly get a speed increase to 20mb, it wont suddenly increase the size of the BT pipe/s that the ISP has, so you will probably find that same 5mb at peak times. Now 5mb when you can get 20 at other times of the day certainly will raise questions. I will be very interested to see the fallout from this when everyone gets faster technology, but the ISP capacity remains the same....
  18. Fantastic weather and you are right a colourful and very varied turn out of Zeds.. Not Jealous at all.... honest...
  19. Maybe I could become the "Anti" version and go for blue detailing in the yellow car?
  20. Heres mine This has to be the furthest travelled member to attend this meet surely! Man Bag anyone? James - you could do with cleaning the inside too...
  21. A little late - but here anyway, a selection of my ISTS photos...
  22. Tickets are on their way to me, don't think I'll risk the timing of forward posting to members given the time. It will be a meet at the gate (purchase additional +1's) hand out tickets and then enter as a group. I'll sort exact details on this later
  23. Will upload my pics later when I get home thanks again to all those who came. Great to meet you all again I think this show could grow and grow. Great location with the Trafford centre within walking distance so the +1's have the option of some retail therapy if they wish. If the choices of food at the show aren't to everyones taste then there are other options. The food options at this show were impressive compared to others, with jacket potatoes, pizza, and the usual burgers, sausages etc. A bar too! There was a lack of traders, but I'm sure in time this will easily be resolved. Certainly gets a thumbs up from me for a show
