jimmy.farrow7 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 When i open my drivers do the window auto drops, but when i close it the window stays down. Is there any reason as to why or is it a fault with the window motor. Also should the passenger window auto drop or just the drivers side. Quote
brillomaster Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 both drivers and passengers sides should drop when the door is opened. if its dropping but not coming back up, try testing the door closure sensor, might be a faulty switch sensor rather than a dodgy motor. 1 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I did wonder as the passenger window doesn't drop at all, and the driver side drops but doesn't go up. where about's is the door close sensor bud? Quote
brillomaster Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I think its just below the latch on the door sill, little rubber switch thingy. Quote

guBBy Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 These window mechanisms are a nightmare 😔 I'm hopefully stripping mine down next week but it's weather dependent. Will let you know how I get on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Keyser Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Try a reset - see here as someone has already posted it http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/98748-passenger-window-issue/#entry1490334 Quote

shooze Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 My passenger one also doesn't auto drop. I also need to try the reset but as it's a roadster I'm worried I'm going to bugger up the roof too! Quote
Mudman Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 My passenger window is intermittent - sometimes works, sometimes nit - it on the to do list but not a priority Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 No its didnt work buddy so i imagine there is an underlying problem as the passenger window doesnt drop at all when you open the door Quote

ZEUS Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 My passenger window has never dropped on opening in the 5 odd years I've had the zed, never caused a problem and works fine on the button up/down. Quote
Bundus Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 If you have disconnected your battery recently you will no doubt have had this happen to you. Its a safety feature to prevent smashing the glass against the frame in the case of battery failure. The window will drop down on opening but it wont go back up on closing. If you repeatedly open and close the door the window will get lower and lower. If this is happening to you then all you need is a window reset as mentioned above. If the window is not dropping at all when you open the door this likely means its another issue entirely and not linked to the safety feature mentioned. I would first try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect and immediately perform the window reset procedure. This may get you back up and running but if not its likely a motor or sensor playing up. 1 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 Thats good to know as whenever i open the door it drops more and more Quote
shooze Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I have a feeling my passenger side door switch isn't working. If I press it nothing happens. Quote
Puffmac Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) When I bought mine the passenger window didn't drop on opening the door. I stripped the door down in about 5 minutes using a tutorial I found online, and then followed Nissan's official reset procedure (also online). It's working flawlessly now, although I must add that it never actually caused any trouble when it wasn't working. I only wanted to fix it because I don't like when things don't work as they intended (which is probably why I always end up spending so much fixing the silliest little things on my car ) edit: edited for smiley.
