the wife and I bought our 1st new car not long after we got married

 

it was a 1996 ford escort - surely its been scrapped by now and the plate is available, but searching on the dvla and other sites its not there

 

any suggestions ?

Personally I'd give the DVLA a ring to see if they can help although could it be that somebody has it on retention but just not put it on a vehicle? :shrug: Not sure if that would show up on sites or not then.

Yes DVLA is a good place to start, however if it is still available it would be put into a future auction. Google Dvla Select Registatons for their details. A lot of old cars were scrapped along with their plates. Good luck. :)
